Thank you to Penguin Random House Canada for this digital galley copy!

Maggie Nelson, champion of the genre-overlapping of memoir, non-fiction, history and poetry, has done it again! This is incredibly dense and challenging work that illustrates perfectly Nelson's reliably nuanced and thorough intellectual processes. This book focuses as sharply as possible on the word, meaning, and action-taking of 'Freedom'. There is no good way to sum up non-fiction other than to laud the author for their incredible wisdom and the ability to articulate things you did not even know you needed to hear.
I will say that this book is a bit intimidating, being so dense, as I mentioned. I will certainly be buying a copy, so as to pore over every essay, but I almost didn't finish this book due to its intensity. But do not let that deter you! Nelson is masterful and a genius of the current day.
