This book was fine... it started off well enough, but the later half fell off. This book was a forgettable read to me. I can't quite put my finger on why.

I love enemies to lovers, but this was too much. I wanted more love between the characters s

Enemies to lovers with some grumpy sunshine, you can usually never go wrong…

this fell short for me. felt like there was some plot holes. this was an easy read to get through per say.

Charming, but messy and a lot of subplots going on. You got enemies to lovers. Sunshine and grump. Lying about your identity/career. A wild dog being trained for a dog show. A woman trying to realize her own confidence. An ankle monitor. Living with your brother, when you don't have a good relationship.

Just. A lot.

Overall, I think this book is a bit forgettable - but it was a light, breezy read.

I thought overall this was a really fun sunshine/grumpy kind of enemies to sort of lovers to something in between story. I think there are a couple things like the pacing, the order and the third act break up of the story I could have wished were a bit different, but overall, I enjoyed! Plus I mean who doesn't love a cute cartoon cover with a dog.

I really enjoyed I Hate You More! It was more spicy then I expected- which is fine with me! The dog competition was really fun - I have two dogs so I adore books with dogs!

Simply not that memorable. The initial premise was cute- former sunshine pageant queen with over weight dog meets grumpy veterinarian. While the book lost its way around the middle, it really was just a lighthearted simple read. The plot was new but not outstanding. The enemies to lovers plot line felt on the nose yet I can't imagine this book taking any other plot line. I liked the heroine far more than the hero but he did become more engaging near the end. More than anything, I wish the romance was a bit more thought out and built up. I was hoping for a few more "aww" moments from this sweet book. However, we can all agree that Wheezy really kept the book going! I will most likely still read the next book by this author.

The first half of this short romance was fantastic; the interactions between the characters were entertaining and engaging. However, I thought the second half was boring? I just felt like the chemistry was regressing in the second half, and it wasn't as enjoyable as it had been in the first.

Anyone that knows me knows that I am a big fan of enemies to lovers. I especially love a grumpy Gus and a little tulip baby romance. Plus, I'm a hard core sucker for chubby Golden Retrievers with endearing names. I have two at home myself. Spencer is exactly the right amount of bah humbug to Ruby's sunshine.

This one was genuinely fun and really easy to get through, and you know... Lazy Wheezy for the win. Plus we can all use a little heat now and then right? I really appreciated how the author worked that into this romcom story.

Really good story, really good fun, really good banter, really good romance, really good boi dog... and you got yourself a really good book.

I had a hard time getting into this book initially…once it started to pick up though I really started to enjoy it!

I wish there was a little bit more chemistry between the two leads but it was still good!

I did not get around to reading this book prior to it’s publication date and it has since been archived therefore I cannot leave a review at this time.

This book ended up being a sweet and very spicy rom com. The main characters were likeable, and the side characters were a hoot and added a lot of the com.

After the awkward info dump in the beginning, the story picked up and we got to know Ruby, an ex-beauty queen, and Spencer, a stickler-for-the-rules veterinarian. She enters a sub-qualified dog into the dog show he judges, and antics ensue.

We are reminded (a few too many times) that Ruby is gorgeous, and she has the proverbial chip on her shoulder about wanting to be more than just a pretty face. Spencer is the hero with the gruff exterior, but gooey insides.

The characters' emotional development throughout the story is quite deep, and they are super introspective and self-aware, to the point that it took me out of the story because it was so unbelievable. I mean, it was very nice, but they all felt like psychology PhDs at the end.

All that aside, I really enjoyed this one as a fun romance with a unique setting and plot.

I'll be honest, the reason I requested this book was because I was won over by the golden retriever on the cover.
I felt that this story started out great, but towards the end I had lost interest.
If you're a fan of the enemies to lovers trope then this one is definitely for you.

This was cute. It wasn’t anything too memorable, but it made as a quick and cute summer read. It had some funny moments and a bit more steam than I was expecting (nothing wrong with that!). If you’re interested in something to read by the pool, then this would be a good pick.

MORE DOGS IN ROMANCE NOVELS, PLEASE. It's a surefire way to get me to read it -- and it makes the story 10x cuter. This was such a fun read.

Lucy Gilmore is a new favorite of mine. I love a good rom-com and this was no different! Plus a cute pupper never hurts a story!

Thank you Sourcebooks for a gifted copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

This one took me by surprise! I have not read Lucy Gilmore before but I am adding her to my list of authors to explore further. I loved the dialogue and dynamics between the characters in this book - it was cute and funny. I had many laugh out loud moments. I thought the relationship between Ruby and Spencer went from 0 to 60 and felt a little unrealistic. Other than that, I loved it and flew through the story!

This was a really fun and engaging rom-com! Spencer and Ruby were a delightful instance of opposites attracting, and Wheezy, of course, stole the show. I was less interested in the element of the actual dog show leading to miscommunication, but what made this one work for me the most was the scene that likely everyone else is talking about (where Ruby challenges Spencer not to cross the self-imposed line in his house and everything that ensues), as well as their more tender love scene later on in the book. Also I couldn't get enough of the group of old ladies and their erotic book club and would've loved even more moments with them too!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I usually like the enemies-to lovers trope in romance books. But this book made enemies to lovers trope childish between them. I understand that they did not get the best first impressions from the start. But that doesn't mean they should be childish from the start. Everyone always has different opinions when it's about their passion or specifics. We just take the criticism and more on from it. It doesn't need to be dragged out about hurt feelings. I expected more from them.

This book wasn't a hit for me. I enjoyed the first part of the book, especially with the dogs, but the pacing went off the rails and I couldn't keep up. It was a pretty forgettable romcom and I was hopeful for so much more.

This was a super cute romance. I read it in one sitting. It gave me Hallmark feels.
3.5 stars for me.
