We revisit the magically whimsical Starfall Forest with this Sweet 2nd book in the Magical Rescue Vets series. As vets in training, Kat and Rosie are able to help out with the dragon flu while solving the mystery of why the Mystical crystals are losing power and diminishing in quantity. Kat discovers some parallels to her current home situation with her twin brothers, a new baby sister, and exhausted parents who have (as she sees it) no time for her. With cute illustrations and wonderful descriptions this will appeal to young readers! The whimsical creatures written fun babes will appeal to young and old alike. Adults will appreciate the subtle lessons being taught throughout this book. A fabulous fantasy with real life lessons, whimsical creatures and adventures with meaning. This is a Young Middle Grade, and this is part of the Magical Rescue Vets series. This is great for kids just starting to read chapters books (2nd to 4th grade depends on the kids reading level). This book is under 100 pages, so I do not think the size will be to overwhelming for a young reader that is just looking to read chapter books. I really liked the storyline, and there was a plot twist in this book which I really enjoyed. I think if you have a young kid that love animals/wants to be a vet this willing a great book for them. I found the characters in this book fun, and the animals where so much fun. There was magic and so much fun. Also, One of the main characters has a new baby sister, so she is trying to get over everything not being about her anymore. I would also say this is a great book for a little girl that is getting really to become a big sister or just became a big sister. There is some great messages in this book. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Arcturus Publishing) or author (Melody Lockhart) via NetGalley, so I can give honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

This chapter book was very cute and any young child would enjoy this. I thought that it was very creative and I loved the storyline. I can't until my niece and nephew are old enough to read this book. I think this book would also be great in schools. I also love the cover illustration.

I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

Jade the Gem Dragon is the second book in the new Magical Rescue Vets series by Melody Lockhart.
In this book we learn more about Kat and her family as well as meet a green dragon called Jade.
Kat is fed up. At home her mum is always tired and nobody pays her much attention after her baby sister has been born. Kat feels left out and frustrated especially when her dad cancels their movie night to look after the baby and then go to work.
When the girls find a gem dragon who has dragon flu they do all they can to help it.
Kat learns many things in this book about herself and her family and how much she loves them.
These books are amazing early readers and children will love not only the main characters but the magic contained in each book and the amazing animals throughout.

Second book in the Magical Rescue Vets series. The story continues about magic and friendship between the characters of Rosie and Kat.

In this book Kat and Rosie take an adventure into the Forest where they meet a baby dragon.

The text has descriptions and dialogues. The illustrations are black and white to aid the reading.

I think the book is ideal for beginner readers of short chapter books, ideally 6/7 + years old who like stories about friendship and magic.

Review to come May 13th on blog/goodreads.

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.

I have two of these books, but decided on starting this one first as it sounded the cutest. I didn't think it would matter which I started (GR/Netgalley didn't list it in order), but apparently I should have started with Oona. There were some moments that had me confused, moments that pointed to the other book. But after a while I got used to the world and got into it. Yep, despite that I was confused, I just kept on reading, didn't really feel like suddenly switching to another book.

In this one we meet Kat and Rosie, two very good friends who are having a ton of fun together, especially now that they can go to a secret fantasy world to help out creatures there. In this one we get to see dragons and gems. I really love dragons and boy oh boy these dragons were just the cutest. The art just made me want to step into the story and cuddle with one. But it isn't just fun and playing with magical creatures. The dragons need the help of the girls and the vets and it is up to them to find a solution when something bad is happening! I was a bit angry with the gnomes, I could understand that they need gems, but if you see that drilling makes things worse, why not try something else? Why not at least look for a solution. Yes, it may mean less income for a while, but making sure everything is safe and good is also very important.

I love seeing Kat and Rosie figure out things, try to make a solution that worked for everyone. And their solution was just brilliant! I had a bit of giggle as well, given things. Then again, I would also do a lot of things for some yummy chocolate cake. Teehe.

I am not sure how I felt about the second plot of the book. The one with Kat and her family. There is a new baby and her parents just have no time for something else. For most I just wasn't interested in the plot, and other times I was frustrated. I get that your baby is crying a lot, I get that you are busy, but you have other kids as well, and one who definitely needs some more attention. Namely Kat. She just wants to do something fun with her parents, either one of them, and she gets forgotten or ignored or plans are cancelled. I could well understand her frustration and her anger. I would just have liked it to see the parents act like the adults and step up instead of having Kat take the decision to do something.

But in overall, I really enjoyed this book and I am going to be reading Oona the Unicorn soon (by the time this review is up I will have read it, haha). I would recommend this book. There is plenty of magic, fun friendship, and more. There is cute and sweet art. I cannot wait to see more of this world.

What a fun book! I read this with my little reader, the language was easy to understand and thy were able to easily read the majority of it. There were a few words I had to explain, but not many.

The little pictures that came were a perfect addition, they were emotive and helped us visualize what was happening in the story. My little readers favourite part was the sweater that changed colours based upon mood, although they wouldn't want one because having people know how you are feeling all the time would be troubling. I rather enjoyed the concept of the wishing well, also how can you go wrong with a story that has cats, gnomes and dragons?

Thank you NetGalley Melody Lockhart and, Arcturus Publishing Limited for providing me with a free copy of this book. I am providing my voluntary honest review.

This was such a nice read for my 6 year old. She absolutely loved the first book of this series, and if was no different with this one. She especially connected to Rosie's feelings of not being heard in her family, and the continued friendship between Rosie and Kat. The magical world of Starfall Forest and the creatures in it were very entertaining, and my daughter was absolutely delighted.

I thought I'd like this book a lot, but I realised that I don't enjoy fantasy middle grade as much as I like to. But I can see its charm for children between the ages 5 and 8 as the chapters are short and there are pictures. Any child interested in magic and animals may enjoy it a lot.

This is the second entry in an appealing chapter book series for young readers who like stories that are imaginative and magical. In the first book, Rosie and Kat were introduced as was the enticing forest where much of the book takes place. The first time around, Rosie was adjusting to a new home; this time Kat is learning to be a big sister. Rosie now is more comfortable in her new home and, along with her friend, Rosie, is back in a story about friendship and more. This time the special creature is a dragon! And this dragon needs help. Will the girls be able to provide it?

This is a title that will encourage young readers to pick up a book…and won’t that make the adults happy?

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this title. All opinions are my own.

This was cute - I think it would be a good read-aloud book for kids because of all the goofy animal names.

This is a magical early chapter book in which two friends Kat and Rosie discover an exciting world of dragons, gnomes and all sorts of creatures in the forest. Kat is getting used to being a big sister and finding it hard to adjust so this magical world is helping her to learn to adapt. In this story the cave crystals have stopped growing and there is a colony of sick dragons. Kat and Rosie help the Vet to discover the mystery behind this and make them better.
My daughter really enjoyed this book. She loves books involving Vets and magic so this was the perfect combination. She enjoyed the story and was keen to keep reading to find out what happened next in the magical kingdom and how the girls would help the dragons. We will definitely be looking out for the other books in this series.
My daughter could read this independently so it is a perfect first chapter book for early readers.
Thank you to NetGalley and Arcturus Publishing for this eARC.

Thank you so much to Arcturus and Netgalley for the earc to read and review.

What a sweet story, I love that the magic world in the story is connected to the normal world but only a few people get to see it. Makes the whole world even more magical.

Kat is struggling with the changes in her household with her parents new baby and her chaotic brothers and being ignored. She takes solace in the magical forest and finds a sick dragon and has to help it.

I loved getting to explore the world with Kat, Rosie and the Doctors, meeting all the gnomes and sweet little magical animals. I loved that the girls cared so much about their lives and wanted to do all they could to help out and find the reasons why the gems weren’t growing and also why the dragons were getting sick.

This was so beautiful, had beautiful illustrations, sweet characters and a dream magical world with so much to learn and explore. I adored reading this story, it was such a beautiful magical escape and I know that anyone that reads this will adore it too.

I am always on the hunt for a great early chapter book series. Oftentimes, I find early chapter books to lack substance, but this new series is adorable! My daughter is in first grade, and she read through Oona the Unicorn and Jade the Gem Dragon in a day! She couldn't put them down. I asked if I could read them with her, and she said no!! She was too busy to read aloud to me. I ended up stealing a peak after she was done, and I agree with her. This series mixes in the magical with the animal world. I see lots of early chapter book readers, like my daughter, loving this fun, new series.
