I have received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Going into this manga I wasn't sure if I'd enjoy the premise of this one. At the beginning it felt a little cringey, but honestly that's part of what made it enjoyable for me. If you're looking for a super corny and cringey romance manga give this one a try!

First of all, I want to thank NetGalley and Kodansha Comics for providing me with an electronic copy.

It is the first manga that I read by this author and I really loved her drawing style. In relation to the story, I think the plot is a little bit strange, or I am a bit confused with the behaviors of Japanese teenagers. Although I think the main characters are so innocent that you just want them to end up together as soon as you start reading.

I'm waiting for the translation of the second volume because the story is only focusing on the main characters and there are no supporting characters.

In general, it is like any manga of the same genre and the cliché of the mysterious male protagonist.

And I suppose that Chigira was already in love with Maaya from before, and I will be on the lookout to confirm my theory.

I went into this manga really hopeful; the cover is beautiful, and the romance troupe of ‘unseen girl and popular boy’ had me excited. However, I must admit I found myself totally lost when reading. Protagonist Kisaragi is constantly jumping between thoughts and ideas, with no real development ever being shown on how she gets from one point to the other – jumping from never confessing again to needing to find a boy to love one-sidedly to "I guess I’ll just pretend to love someone"… Her logic is skewered, and I just find her a hard character to get behind and support as she seems to have little substance past her need to be in love.

On the other hand, Chigiri-kun does appear to have more about him, with readers being able to insinuate some feelings that aren’t said aloud, but due to the main focus on Kisaragi, you don’t get to see much of his personality or reasonings which is a shame. That being said, there is always the potential for more development of both characters in further instalments.

Despite the above issues I found, the overarching theme that draws upon the fake relationship style troupe is one that I enjoy, and I am a little intrigued to find out if the characters do become more relatable and how this strange friendship/relationship can grow. As I had expected the art style is great and we can’t ignore the fact the Chigiri-kun is the perfect blend of cute and mysterious for a male protagonist.

This was soo freaking cute, finally new shojos in my life where the sweet guy is actually a sweet guy! Kisaragi is literally me, I felt so connected to her struggles and also I just wanted to hug her so much for what he went through at the beginning of the story, that dude was such an assssss to her! And oh boy, Chigira is the sweetest and earnest boy in the earth...so much love for him and how goos he tretas her. Their little missions are so fun to read because it's clearly not pretend anymore lol Totally gonna continue this story because I'm super invested and I just want them to hold hands and watch the sunrise together!!

I've been wanting to expand my manga library, so I grabbed this book! The premise sounded sweet, the cover was cute, and it's romance. It seemed right up my alley way.

Here are my notes:

1. The main character who is 16 thinks it's natural a boy wouldn't like her because she's ugly. Self-esteem girl! Don't think like that! I hope that's just a poor translation error...

2. She does have stalker-like behaviour though. But at 16, I guess you'd admire their social media and follow them around town? I sure didn't have time for that...

3. Yamada is a jerk for blasting it over social media. Calling her a "Fuggo"? Can we just toss him in the trash now? Thanks. Girl, with that comment alone you shouldn't like him anymore. He's obvious not worth anybody's time. My goodness.

4. Popular dude suggests him and our lead play "House" and have unrequited one sided feelings... This is so weird.

5. I do like how respectful this dude can be though. "I respect you for that." I like it.

6. A lot of the illustrations are super cute, not gonna lie. I just think the relationship is kind of weird?

7. Fake relationships have never been my vibe, but I do want to continue reading this series. I want to see how this develops... I hope they end up together. It's quite the guilty pleasure for me.

Overall, I'm super intrigued! I've never been into the fake relationship trope before, but I did like it. Despite this book's flaws (self-esteem girl! Get some!), I think it's a pretty good manga to slip away from reality into.

Three out of five stars.

Thank you to NetGlaley and Kodansha for providing me a free copy of this book in exchange of an honest review.

My heart can't stand this too much longer and I am sure that I have cavities. This was such a cute read and I can't wait to see what comes next as I have so many questions!

The plot was a little strange, but after I got past that, it became really cute. There isn't anything too outstanding that separates this shojo from the others, but I think its still a cute read that can improve in future volumes!! The main boy is swoon worthy, what else do we need haha

I knew that this manga will be one of the best of this month!

"And yet, you are so sweet" by Kijira Anan is about Kisaragi-san, a girl who's rejected by her one-side feeling's boy. After that, she started to believe that she's not worth enough, or that she's ugly and other things that a girl can think about herself - but no, you're so beautiful Kisaragi!.
On the other hand, there is Chigira-kun. He's a popular guy of her school and he make a deal where Kisaragi-san "pretends" to have one-sided feeings for him. She accepts his offer essentially because she enjoys the feeling of having a crush on someone

I LOVE THIS TROPE!

Kisaragi will be strong enough to not develope real feelings for Chigira? I hope that Chigira will change his mind and someday confess to Kisaragi. What a plot twist? - or is it a cliché? - I like the two of them and their new friendship and I hope there will be more Chigira pov's chapters.

The art style is so pretty! I love it and gives me a sense of peace.

SUPER CUTE!!!

This is adorable - I also enjoy that the main male character actually treats the girl nice! I'm always surprised by the amount of mangas were guys are mean and still get the girl!

It's very cute seeing her start to realize her feelings while it's been pretty clear he only has feelings for her!

Overall a fun cute story! I will say I wish it offered something a little new or a little more complexity (either to the characters or situation) just to give this manga a something to push it beyond other manga's.

Great read!
Can't wait for volume 2!

I think this story is a bit predictable so far. Girl gets rejected by her crush and so another guy asks the girl to focus on him on instead in order to get over her devastating let down. It is pretty clear that this plan will backfire and she will develop real feelings for him. Yet knowing all that doesn't matter. The story is done rather well and a lot of fun to read. I'm looking forward to reading this series as it continues.

“And Yet, You Are So Sweet,” tells the story of a teenage girl who has just had her heartbroken. She feels humiliated and broken, and she vows to not fall in love again. A boy who she works with in their school’s library proposes that she pretend to have feelings for him. This seems like a silly premise at first glance, but I’ll say as a woman who was once a teenage girl, I completely relate to this narrative.

This review comes with a brief history of me. When I was a teenager I was in love with the idea of love. I wanted so badly to fall in love, that I often just pretended to like people or acted out dramatic displays of affection solely for the entertainment of it all. Although I was obsessed with romance, if I had really questioned my own at the time behavior, I would have realized that I was terrified of the idea of actually having a boyfriend. I just wasn’t ready for that at the time, and it was far more fun having unrequited love affairs with the emotionally unavailable.

So I’m telling you all this to say that the premise of this manga makes complete sense and is actually really enjoyable to read. The characters are charming, and if you identify at all with what the two of them are going through, then I’m certain you’ll find yourself swept up in this story.

The art throughout the manga is very pretty. Clean lines and clear panels make it easy to follow the characters and dialogue from moment to moment. The English dialogue does feel a bit clumsy at times as certain phrases are repeated over and over again. It was somewhat distracting, but by no means did it ruin this manga for me. Overall, I found this first volume to be charming, and I definitely will be adding this series to my collection.

Disclaimer: While this is my honest review, I was given an advance reader copy of this manga through Netgalley.

A first volume Rom-Com Manga, which was funny, cute and could give you Butterflies at some points. As in intro Volume to the story it was a success. I loved the characters, Well high-school shojo romance mangas are absolutely amazing for sure.

It talks about having one-sided feelings. Kisaragi-san rejected on the first page for her proposal is shown with low self-confidence which makes her believe that she's ugly and confesses that "One-Sided Feelings" are the best, and it's stupid to confess to be shot down with humiliation. But Chigira-kun, a popular guy protagonist comes in the scene and they make a deal where Kisaragi-san "pretends" to have one-sided feeings for him.

But one could see how Chigira-kun has feelings for Kisaragi-san, but he doesn't want to confess directly but his actions speaks louder. The story is filed with cute and funny elements. But the story is not yet that much different from a regular romance shojo, I expect something different and exciting in future.

The artwork is amazing. Kudos Kujira-san.

This was pretty cute but also very stereotypical for Japanese manga. I enjoyed it and might take the others out from the library in the future but the heroine is just too passive, it feels like the story is happening to her and just ugh. I wish she was a bit more confident in herself

This is so sweet!! At first, I was a little put off by how the main girl was acting. I get that she was heartbroken and wanted to focus her attention on another guy, but it was a little too much for me. When the main guy started being all aloof and sweet towards her, my heart became all fluttery. The smile never left my face until the volume ended. I want more of this!!

This Manga was a wholesome, fast read that left me wanting more as soon as it was over!!

I loved the comfortable feel of this manga; it was so simple but in the best possible way. The illustrations combined with the cute, feel-good story left me in a good mood, and I immediately want to carry on with the story!

Although this wasn't super detailed, it was interesting, and when reading Manga, that is what I look for. I like the illustrations to tell me the story alongside words, and this did that.

If you are looking for a cute, romance manga that will leave you feeling food, this is one to check out!! I can't wait to read the rest of this series!!

I am eagerly awaiting the next volume!

This is the very cute story surrounding recently heart broken Maaya and Chigira, the boy who has a solution on how to break her heart.

The story is earnest and wholesome-- Maaya's developing crush on Chigira is heart warming to read.

The story seems to be hinting at a hidden backstory for Chigira having pre-existing feelings for Maaya and I am excited to dig into that for future chapters.

While this doesn’t deviate from typical high school romance tropes, it does deliver them with a light heart and more believable characters. We have the typical handsome guy who is aloof and the honest, sweet girl who is a bit shy. Kisaragi is a good protagonist and I liked that she tried and failed at something off the bat, even if it was a device to set up the plot. The plot is a bit dramatic, but I think the author did a great job of making it humorous and light at times, and it basically serves as an excuse for Kisaragi and Chigira to become friends and develop feelings for one another.

This first volume focused a lot of the romantic elements of their friendship and I hope to see more of their personalities and lives outside of school as time goes on, I think this could have some great development. The art is really quite beautiful, I will definitely be checking this series out as it continues!

Thank you to NetGalley and Kodansha Comics for the ARC!

I love a good romance-centred manga, so when I heard of this one I knew I had to pick it up!

I’ve read a lot of mangas over the years and after a time, a lot of tropes and cliches really start getting annoying, and this may feel like the case here for some people, however, I LIVE for all the tropes and cliches. Maaya has just been ridiculed on social media after confessing to her crush that she likes him. But then our hero swoops in and comforts her. Of course, if we’re going to have another boy swoop him, he is none other than the pretty boy! And aren’t they just the best hero’s for a romantic story? Yes, they most definitely are! So right away I’m rooting for their relationship and just hoping they will confess their feelings for one another. We can see these feelings start to form and reveal themselves, and I’m hoping with later books we get them confessing these feelings and figuring things out. They pretend “date” and we really get to see that Maaya is starting to have feelings for Chigira. This exactly where I need this to continue in the next volumes and I hope they come out in English soon!

As an adult I throughly enjoyed the start to this series but I can see teens really taking a liking to it!

Review to come May 18th to blog/goodreads/etc..

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.

Our MC has a boy she is crushing on, she finally confesses and he rudely rejects her (and even makes fun of her online). She has a big big heartbreak, but there is Chigira-san, mister popular and mister sports. I really was thinking he was going to be a dick to her, but instead he comforts her, and later in the first chapter he proposes something. Why doesn't she develop one-sided feelings for him! Of course, pretend! I found it such a cute proposal, but I was immediately suspicious. What is the catch? Does he already like her that he is proposing this? Something else? As the story goes on we see that Kisaragi is doing all she can to act on those one-sided feelings, and the plan seems to be working (well after she has gotten a rundown on his schedule, haha, she kept missing him), but that leads to a new problem.... what happens when those feelings become real and turn into a full on crush including blushing and hoping for more? I had a giggle at her confused emotions. She was so ready to do x but then the feels really hit.

Kisaragi was a sweet character, but she had some low self-esteem. At times her remarks were quite painful, like how she keeps saying that Chigira is out of her league. He came to you girl, so clearly you aren't.

Oh, and when that dickhead of a crush posted that on Twitter, I had flashbacks to when I confessed to a boy in school. I gave him a letter to ask him to date me, that I liked him.. the next day that letter was hanging in the school's cafeteria. Maybe not the same, but back then Twitter wasn't around, but I am sure that dick would have posted it there if it had existed. So I just wanted to reach out to our MC and give her a big BIG hug.

I think the only thing that could make it better would be seeing Chigira's POV. We do get some glimpses, but I would love a full chapter, or even half a chapter. While it is pretty clear from Kisaragi's POV how Chigira feels, I still want more!

The art was so pretty! The mangaka can draw so nice and I just love the eyes.

All in all, I need more. I need to know if this is going to be one-sided (HA, don't believe that) or if Kisaragi finally steps up and tries to make more of it. I mean, these two look so good and cute together and there is so much chemistry. I want them to date!

Maaya Kisaragi, 16 years old, finally confessed to her crush...only to be flatly rejected and ridiculed on social media after. To make matters worse, the most popular guy in her grade, Chigira-kun, overheard her despondent muttering about the whole thing.

But instead of making fun of her, he comforts her...and proposes an odd solution to her heartbreak!

I haven’t read many mangas, but this is by far one of the best one so far!

The artwork was excellent and the characters were so adorable. It is definitely a cute and sweet start to this series, and I can’t wait to read the next one to see where the story goes.

Thank You NetGalley and Kodansha Publishers for this ARC!
