I absolutely love this authors books and this one was just as good as all her previous books. I finished this in one sitting. My book wasn’t exactly glued to my hand but it might as well have been because it travelled everywhere with me. I just couldn’t bear to miss a single second of the story. It didn’t take me long to get to race through the book.

Oh, what a delightful story.

The Savages have lived on Mersey side all of their lives. It's the 1930's and new neighbours move in.
Monica Savage is delighted that they have a girl Joan the same age as her and they soon become good friends.

Olive Copperfield Joan's mum is often left alone for long times as her husband Billy is a stoker on ships that leaves Charlie Joan's younger brother.

Times are hard for the Copperfields and at times they are left struggling. Nellie Savage strikes up a good friendship with Olive and helps the Copperfields as much as she can, her husband has a good job on the railways so they are never short of money.

There are some lovely characters in this book and it is such an easy read, there are secrets being held which are just waiting to be revealed. The families are likeable and I really enjoyed learning about them and their lives.
A Great story.
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this lovely book. xx

The Girls from Mersey View is set in Liverpool before the second war. It follows the life’s of two families. The Savages and The Copperfields. Monica and Joan are the same age when The Copperfields move in to Mersey View, they instantly become close friends as do their mums Nelly and Olive.
It’s a story of tough times and how the woman of Liverpool support each other through hard times.
I have read a lot of Lyn Andrew’s books and this one was as good as the others.
Liverpool is a friendly city and through this story it made me want to visit again.
Thanks You NetGalley and Headline for an early copy of this book and thank you Lyn for writing it.

Having read all of Lyn's previous books, this was a must read for me. Not usually a fan of historical fiction, there is something about Lyn's style of writing that appeals to me. A great read.

Liverpool, 1935: Monica Savage is delighted when new neighbours move in next door, and she and Joan Copperfield quickly become firm friends. Monica's father has a good job as a on guard on the railway, Joan's family are harder up, with her sailor dad mostly at sea, and restless when he's home. But there are dark secrets lurking.

Olive Copperfield and her daughter Joan and son Charlie move into a house on Mersey View. They make friends with the Savage family and Monica and Joan quickly become best friends,

This is an easy book to read that's filled with lovely characters who try to help each other out in their times of need. There's a few shocks and surprises along the way. Once I started reading this book, I couldn't put it down.

I would like to thank #NetGalley #Headline and the author #LynAndrews for my ARC of #TheGirlsFromMerseyView in exchange for an honest review.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.

It’s 1935, and Monica is happy that new have moved in next door and now she and Joan Copperfield are quickly becoming firm friends.

Monica’s father works as a guard on the railway, but Joans family are not so well off, her dads a sailor, so he’s off at sea.

Mersey View is so different to where he sails to, but they are still independent to make the best of what they have. It’s this courage that makes Monica follow her own dreams of wanting to be a hairdresser.. Joan is working at Crawfirds biscuit factory where she can buy the broken ones cheap.

Secrets are being kept, especially when a abandoned child turns on the Copperfields' doorstep, a child who will change everything.

With war looming, will the girls dreams become a reality or will their families be torn apart?

Lovely Enjoyable Read

Liverpool 1935 Monica Savage fifteen years old lived all her life in Mersey View Everton with her family when new girl Joan Copperfield asks her why is it called Mersey view when you cannot see the river known as the mucky Mersey? but the girls soon become good friends.
Joan has already left school at gets taking on at Crawford's biscuit Factory and Monica couldn't wait till after Christmas she so wanted to be a hairdresser and not work in an office somewhere convincing her parents she could do the three years apprenticeship, she gets a job at LA BELLE COIFFURE salon and changes her name to Monique.
What a delight this book was to read that takes us up to the beginning of WW2, an inspirational story that the author has captured

Olive moves into a street named Mersey View in Liverpool with her daughter Joan and her son Charlie and husband Billy. Joan befriends Monica a girl of the same age who lives a couple of doors away.

Monica's mum and dad become friendly with Olive and try to help where they can as Billy is a stoker in the engine room on ships so is away from home a lot.

It's the 1930's and covers all the trials and tribulations of both families as they make there way in the world with lots of surprises on the way, but still gives the feel good factor, well written with a lovely mix of vivid characters that you will enjoy reading.
