I appreciate the publisher allowing me to read this book. I really enjoyed this one the plot kept me interested until the end which is not easy, and the characters were engaging and believable. I highly recommend this book.

I somehow began this book without realizing it was in the middle of the series, but it was quite easy to get up to speed with the characters. It’s a great cozy mystery with an interesting hook. I definitely will be going back to read the series from the beginning.

This is book 5 in the Chantilly Adair Psychic Medium series and can be read as a stand alone. I have not read any of the previous books and would probably have enjoyed this more if I was familiar with the characters. Chantilly is employed by the Castleberry Historical Society and has dealt with ghosts since her childhood. When the ghost bully from high school shows up she's not sure she wants to help him move on but he's still a bully and she finds herself solving his murder. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Another good cozy mystery by this author: entertaining and engrossing.
I had fun, liked the well developed characters and the solid mystery kept me guessing.
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine

It was ok, nothing memorable or worthy of recommendation. I am tired of the over reliance on paranormal as a plot device. It just takes away from what could have been an otherwise enjoyable story.

Princess Fuzzypants here: Chantilly is a divorced mom with a teenage son and an unusual talent. She sees ghosts. They make themselves known to her often just to say hello. Others, however, like Hank, have another agenda. High School bully Hank made everyone’s life miserable
As an adult, he was equally obnoxious. He has not improved now that he is a ghost. In fact, he threatens chaos if Chantilly will not help him find the person who murdered him. The problem is there are far too many possibilities.

Chantilly’s cop boyfriend cannot get involved, as the coroner declared his death accidental when he fell off a perch. Hank says he was shoved but has no idea who did the deed. With some guidance from her detective, she is able to whittle down the list. But both she and the reader are surprised when the killer is unmasked. It is one of the many twists that make the book so enjoyable. It is also refreshing when her secret is not such a secret and she can get support from her friends.

Lots of Southern sass and charm, it is a delightful way to pass a summer’s day. Five purrs and two paws up.

Spooky cute cozy mystery. The plot was amazing and the characters have really come a long way since book one.

Chantilly is back, helping out another ghost or two. This one is at the local high school, where the town bully is stuck. Trying to find who was the killer, and helping several ghosts find the light is a full time job. Plus trying to work and research for the historical society doesn't leave much free time. Good story, and good mystery. Hard to put this one down. Highly recommend.

Deceased and Desist by Carolyn Ridder Aspenson in book 5 in The Chantilly Adair Paranormal Mystery Series. This was the first one I have read. I was able to get current quickly.
I loved the protagonist and her friends. They were likeable and relatable. I also enjoyed the fact that Chantilly is a mother with a job and the ability to see ghosts.
This easy to read Cozy has everything, suspects, twists and turns that have you gussing to the end, romance and friendship.
I was given an ARC by Severn River Publishing via NetGalley for an honest review.

Deceased and Desist by Carolyn Ridder Aspenson is the 5th novel in A Chantilly Adair Paranormal Cozy Mystery Series. I recommend reading the series in order so that you can get to know the characters. However, Deceased and Desist can be read as a standalone. I did find myself a little lost in the first chapter, but then Chantilly introduced herself and her friends. I wish I had known this was the fifth book in the series when I acquired it. There is a cast of quirky, fun characters who live in a cozy small town. Chantilly has good friends with whom she spends time chatting, laughing, and teasing. She is a divorced mother with a teenage son. Chantilly has the ability to see and speak with spirits. An old high school bully is dead and needs Chantilly’s help. He knows he was murdered, but the police are ruling his death accidental. He needs Chantilly’s help in finding out who killed him and convincing Chantilly’s boyfriend that his death was a murder. Chantilly agrees to help the victim. This was a fun whodunit. It is a simple mystery that can be solved early in the book (it was obvious). There was a good wrap up at the end. I wish, though, that the mystery had been the focus of the story. More time is devoted is chatting with friends at the café, doing her job at the Castleberry Historical Society, spending time with her son and boyfriend, and helping ghosts cross over than the whodunit. The people in Castleberry sure do love to gossip and joke (I did not get the majority of the jokes). I liked the sweet ending. I especially appreciated that there was no foul language in the book. Deceased and Desist is a lighthearted paranormal mystery with fun friends, good gossip, flavorsome food, single-minded spirits, rampant rumors, teenage troubles, and beastly bullies.

This is a new series for me and, after reading Deceased and Desist I now have to go back and catch up. It has everything that make a great cozy mystery. When ghosts are added, well even better. I can say it works fine as a stand alone as I didn't feel like I was missing anything by starting with #5.
Chantilly has a real challenge dealing with the latest ghost who comes to her for help. Hank is dead and the police are calling it an accident. Not according to Hank who says he was pushed to his death. He wants Chantilly to catch his killer. The hitch is that the list of suspects is huge as not many people in town liked Hank. He was the high school bully and made Chantilly's life a misery. But, hey, he's a ghost in need of closure and Chantilly is the one to help him get it so she gets to work.
Being a proper cozy this mystery not only has the perfect southern setting, a great cast of well developed characters and humor, it also has a satisfying puzzle to solve. I am looking forward to reading the previous four in the series.
My thanks to the publisher Severn River Publishing and to NetGalley for giving me an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

This book is a truly amazing read. It has a funky group of zany characters and of course, Chantilly. It is a unique story and has its quirks. The twists and turns keep you guessing along the way. I read this very enjoyable and quick read in an afternoon. I definitely recommend it.

I’ve read this author before, so when I saw this, I thought it was the same series. Nope, but I was still excited to read it. I had no trouble keeping up even though I hadn’t read the previous four books. Chantilly is a fun character especially when she’s with her friends. I really related to her as I have two teen boys, one also 17. The mystery was light, and I didn’t guess who the perpetrator was, so that was good, too. Bully is part of the main story which might trigger some, and it makes the story a tad darker than most cozies. However, this is a fun book to read with a cup of tea on a lazy afternoon. Recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

Deceased and Desist is the 5th book in the Chantilly Adair series by Carolyn Ridder Aspenson. I found my next series to read, now I just have to go back to the beginning. I love my talking kitties but after that comes the people who can talk to ghost. I may have come late to this party but I do hope there will be more than 5 books in this series. I like Chantilly a lot and it's not just that she can talk to ghost. She's the type of character in a book that you wish you could be friends with. I like the way Carolyn Ridder Aspenson writes, I hope her thriller novels are just as good, i shall find out soon. I recommend this book for the cozy ghost talking lovers, I think you'll fully enjoy it. Make sure to check out the rest of her books too.

This book is full of quirky, fun characters and a clever story line. I honestly took my time reading this because I didn’t want the story to end after just a few days of reading. It’s a fun, light read that’s just perfect for lazy days and relaxing evenings. I love a good cozy mystery and this one does not disappoint.

A big thank you to NetGalley and Severn River Publishers for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is a cozy mystery, and I believe is part of a series. I have not read the others and this reads great as a stand alone. This book made me sad. I enjoyed the mystery but was not surprised at the killer-just at how they got to that point. I enjoyed the cast of characters. Chantilly is interesting, and I liked the paranormal part. Overall a good fast read. 3.5 stars I think most cozy mystery readers will enjoy.

First time reading this author. However, even though this is book 6 I didn't feel too lost. MC is older so that was nice. I liked the characters and the town. The mystery kept me guessing. I would read more in this series.

Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for my eARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was such a fun book ! I read it cover to cover and it kept me entertained throughout. Thank you to the publisher and to Net Galley for the opportunity.

I love a good paranormal cozy and this is one of my favorites.
Chantilly Adair is the protagnist who can see and speak to ghosts that reach out to her for help solving their murders or righting wrongs done to them on earth. She manages the Castleberry Historical Society and is currently doing a display about the local high school. The ghost that appears is the same that bullied her in high school and she is not to happy to see him. He wants her to solve his murder. No one else thinks it was murder and she has her doubts . To add to the mix are more school spirits that show up and demand her time. Her boyfriend Jack even tells her that this was not a murder and to let it go. Chantilly wants to conduct her own investigation to try to determine what really happened at his death.

These are fun charcters and a wonderful mix of paranormal ghosts and solving a sleuth. This is a cozy series I highly recommend. Very well done to the author !

This book is everything that a cosy mystery should be. It is a fun and totalling absorbing read. I had no idea going into this book that it was the 5th in a series - don't let that put you off reading it as I didn't feel like I had missed anything by not reading the preceding books, and I will be going back and reading the other 4,it was that good.

The book centres around Chantilly, her strange gift and the search for a possible killer. There is plenty of small town drama, gossip and humor. There are plenty of bold characters in this novel that you will quickly fall in love with.

This is a really well written book with an excellent mystery to keep you guessing until the end.

I would like to thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for my ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed reading this story. Chantilly Adair is a strong character, who, after a fall, can now see and speak with ghosts.
In Deceased and Desist, a local resident known for his brutal bullying, is found dead, his death is ruled an accident.
Unfortunately for Chantilly, the bully insists he was murdered and is demanding her to find the truth.
Parts of this story were chilling, as the author brought to light the horrors of being a victim of bullying.
The surrounding characters in this series added to the intensity in this story.
I'm looking forward to reading more in this series.
