As a native of Lared0, Texas, with roots from before the region was part of the US, Mandes brings a unique perspective to the continuing discussion about building diverse churches. So much of what I've read recently has been from Black writers; it was good to hear a Latino voice. While I agreed with much of what Mandes says, I didn't necessarily resonate with his presentation style. But that is actually not a bad thing. Being part of a church in the New Samaria means we'll all have to put aside personal preferences sometimes. One of the strongest parts of the book were the stories Mandes tells about churches who have been transformed as their bodies become more diverse, stories that hopefully will motivate readers to action.

Very important work; love this focus as it's much-needed to read and discuss in the Church. Will re-read!
