Thank you to both #NetGalley and Grand Central Publishing for allowing me to read an advanced excerpt from Katherine St. John’s latest beach read, The Siren, in exchange for an honest review.

Given that I only received a four-chapter excerpt of #TheSirenexcerpt, there is not much I can provide readers in the way of a review. Set on the fictional island of Saint Genesius—which is described as having a visually stunning backdrop and serves as the primary location of the movie that the characters are working on—the story revolves around three female characters (i.e., Taylor, Stella, and Felicity) and the various secrets they harbor.

The chapters alternate between the perspectives of our three leading ladies, interlaced with tabloid articles about their lives over the last decade. Though I am not entirely sure where this is going yet, I can say with complete certainty that this book would pair well with a sandy, beach vacation.

Even though this was just an excerpt, I had trouble staying interested in it. The multiple perspectives felt more distracting than intriguing, and I really struggled to connect with the writing style. Clearly, this book isn't for me. However, the summary grabbed my attention, so hopefully it will be a better fit for other readers.

I love this authors last book and I’m excited to read the full one of this book. The except was delicious. It’s the perfect summer read.

I was hooked on this book from the first page! The writing was immersive and fast paced and I cannot wait to see where the story goes. I also loved the inclusion of the mixed media elements and am looking forward to reading the rest when it comes out next month!

Great excerpt! I loved the format with news excerpts and multiple points of view. There is a lot going on already in the the first few chapters and it promises to be a thrilling ride unraveling all the parts and points of view.

I was so excited to see this as Read Now that I pushed read before I saw it was just an excerpt! This teaser just made me want to read the story more. The characters and the setting is interesting. The plot was moving at a nice clip and now I’m invested. I want to know what is going to happen! Thanks to the pub for the teaser.

THE LIONS DEN by this author was one of my top reads last year, and by the 4 too short chapters of THE SIREN, I can tell it too will be one of my top reads this year. Absolutely grabbed me, then saddened me that I was not able to finish the rest in one sitting! Now needing the whole book, so I can finish the riveting story and buzz it around platforms and use low Amazon reviewer number on release date! It’s engaging, with amazingly written character, making it fast paced and unputdownable. Almost wished I hadn’t got the first four chapters, since I now only want it much more! But glad to know the authors second book will be as good, or even better than the phenomenally written first!

The excerpt of the Siren is as tempting as the protagonist! I could definitely feel the glamour and seductive ambience in the air! Would love to read the rest of the novel if the publisher lets me!

Not fair at all! I clicked on this not realizing it was just an excerpt. I saw the read now and thought I’d hit the jackpot. Only to discover it’s just a teaser. You reel me in and I get a taste of the story and now I have to wait for it to be published because I don’t have an ARC of it. I should read more carefully so I don’t get roped into an excerpt instead of the entire book.
