This is a review for just the first four chapters of The View Was Exhausting by Mikaella Clements and Onjuli Datta. While the excerpt is intriguing, I'm not a huge fan of the Hollywood celebs drama. It does seem like a great summer read though, so I might be tempted to read more about Win and Leo when it comes out in July!

Thank you Grand Central Publishing and NetGalley for providing this advanced chapter sampler.

Interesting excerpt. Thanks to NetGalley and publisher for a peek inside Leo and Win's story. I am definitely looking forward to read the rest of it. Also the idea of a British Indian main character is very very refreshing and the fake relationship turned real plot (though used a lot before) is always interesting to read about. I will definitely recommend it.

I really enjoyed the first 4 chapters of this book. I’m definitely adding it to my TBR list! This was a fun, sexy start and I can’t wait to see what happens next!

Thank you for the opportunity to read an excerpt for ‘The View Was Exhausting’.

I enjoyed what I read so far. Fake dating is one trope that never gets old for me. However, if the author doesn’t do it right, it does end up disappointing me a bit.

I’m not sure I’ve read a fake dating story where the two love interest have already had a past of doing this, so it has been interesting reading it.

I really enjoy how diverse this story seems to be.Will definitely continue on with the story once the book is published.

4 stars so far. Did not post on Goodreads or on any other platform as this was just 4 chapters.

The tag line "Faking a love story is a whole lot easier than being in love..." had me initially intrigued and the first four chapter excerpt of The View was Exhausting has left me wanting more. Win is a Hollywood starlet. Leo is well known because of his family name but he has his own artistic endeavors. Faux couple or not, I am all in on Win and Leo! I don't know whether they will end up together, but their chemistry is well established in the first four chapters and I am rooting for them. He supports her big Hollywood ambitions and believed in her before she made it "big," as we learn from the references made to their first encounter seven years ago. Now, as she is experiencing/managing the fallout of another relationship gone south, Leo is there again to help her move on and maintain a certain image in the press......being Whitman Tagore is a full-time job after all! This looks like it will make a perfect Summer read and I can't wait till it releases in July!

The setting is so vibrant and lively it was easy for me to get lost in the story. And you can immediately sense a connection between Win and Leo - its complex and magnetic, drawing them together and you in. But it's layered with secrets and misdirecrs that keep you guessing.

Fairly formulaic romance novel involving celebrities in a fake relationship. The 2 leads have great chemistry and contemplate starting a real romance every time they are together, but never quite seal the deal. Maybe this time, they'll take the plunge...

This excerpt was so fun. I definitely want to get this book. It reminded me a bit of DAISY JONES AND THE SIX and MOVIE STAR BY LIZZIE PEPPER. Fun, light, intriguing.

Thanks to NetGalley and the Publisher for the excerpt. This was an entertaining read. I loved that the MC was a POC in the entertainment industry and her take on dealing with that life. I liked her dynamic with the team around her as well as her family and friends. It felt like a realistic look into her world and I thoroughly enjoyed learning about her the most. I just wasn’t on board with the love interest. I didn’t feel any chemistry between the two and it didn’t feel realistic that a handsome, rich guy would just be waiting around whenever she needed him. To be fair, it was only four chapters and maybe something changes later on but it isn’t enough to keep me reading. Overall, a decent read but not for me.

I only read the exerpt but I loved it! It was really funny and sassy and felt like a really good beach read. I sadly only read four chapters but would definitely want to read more and see how it ends!

Well written with good character development but very predictable to me. I just couldn’t get into it. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Thanks to Netgalley for providing me with an e-book copy of this excerpt. In just four chapters, I felt completely pulled into the story. The authors have already done a great job laying out the details of what goes into crafting and executing a celebrity PR relationship to make it appear authentic. The book has a good balance in regards to the back and forth between past and present. I feel it gave me a thorough sense of what the Win and Leo have already been through together. I'm excited to read the rest of the book and find out how Win straddles the fine line between what's real and what is just illusion in her life as a celebrity, and how she deals with her feelings blurring that line and affecting her career and relationships.

I’m already hooked on these characters and this storyline after only four chapters and can’t wait to read more! This excerpt had me intrigued and then hooked within the first few pages. The amazing amount of detail is just enough to immerse readers right into this world, with the present timeline taking place in the fabulous Côte d’Azur!

The excerpt is intriguing. Excellent writing with a familiar premise, celebrity fake romance, that has been elevated with an impressive level of detail and great character building in just the first four chapters.
