This book was a fast read. I’ll admit that while I still loved it, I had super high expectations. The author Leif jokingly referring to it as her”Murder Boat” book, so I thought there was going to be more murder lol. It was a little slower paced than I thought, but still an excellent time psychological thriller. Thank you to St. Martins Press for providing a copy in exchange for honest review.

This book is really fun! It's a quick read and a great escape for the Winter months!
Lux is working in Hawaii, where she moved recently with her boyfriend Nico, when two girls ask to hire them to sail to a remote island in the South Pacific. Meroe Island is a beautiful, secluded paradise, but it is rumoured to be the home of great tragedies...ship wrecks, shark attacks, poisonous fish, and general misfortune! When the four arrive on the island, they find another couple there- Jake and Elisa. Everyone present is hiding something from their past and it is a perfect storm as everything comes together on this island in the middle of nowhere!
This is a super addicting story. I couldn't put it down! I was completely absorbed! Rachel Hawkins described the perfect dream-like yet very creepy setting! I would never go to that island but it was nice to think about the beaches and warm water right now. The characters are all really interesting, and I enjoyed the flashbacks to "The Before". I was shocked by some of the twists! The ending is totally wild and out there- the entire story requires a bit of suspension of disbelief- but I really could not read fast enough! I'll look out for more by Rachel Hawkins.
Thanks to St. Martins Press and Raincoast Books for my copy!

Barrie Kreinuk is a one man show. He delivers in a big way. Adding layers upon layers of depth to these characters. Reckless Girls kept me on the edge of my seat. From Hawaii to Meroe Island I felt the minutes ticking down. What a crazy adventure! Reckless Girls felt to me like reading a few intersecting stories that come together brilliantly.
Rachel Hawkins is an auto buy for me. Highly recommend all her books or audio recordings. Go in blind and enjoy the ride.

Rachel Hawkins did not disappoint with this one at all! I really enjoyed the story line and felt connected to all the characters. The main character and her boyfriend travel overseas with a newly bought boat that they had to remodel. I read over half of this book in one sitting and finished it the 2nd day I listened to it. I highly recommend for anyone who loves thrillers and can't wait to see what she comes out with next!

I loved this book. It is one of my favorite books that I've read so far this year. This book is the epitome of a thriller. It was perfectly paced with a perfect ending. I'm so sad that it's over.

Thank you Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for the chance to read Reckless Girls by Rachel Hawkins. After reading The wife upstairs I was excited to Reckless girls but soon found myself putting it down, over and over..I just couldnt get into the story, the characters, and the story kept jumping back and forth too quickly before I could get interested in it. I finally had to give up. I may try again later but at the moment its not for me. I definitely recommend The wife upstairs though.

I like locked door mysteries. What could go wrong when you're on a beautiful deserted island in the middle of the ocean? Well.... how about.... EVERYTHING? This is a great mystery! I liked it overall, especially the ending.
A lot of twists are predicable. The pacing back and forth between the then (to know the past of a couple of characters) and the now (on the island) confused more than helped me. It sounded like I was missing a lot of details... But... wait for it, everything resolved itself.
Many thanks to the publisher for the complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Rachel Hawkins explores can you really get away from your problem on a deserted Island:
Lux has always wanted to travel the world and with personal tragedy recently now is better than ever. When her boyfriend Leo suggests traveling via his boat the Susannah, Lux cannot wait to get away. But they end up getting stuck in Hawaii, working dead in job in order to pay for boat repairs. The boat is just fixed when they are hired by 2 women to take them to a private off the beaten path island. The job pays well and Lux and Leo are wanting to escape again. Once there the private beach is amazing but not alone for long when a Golden couple end up on the beach too. Everything is going great but being cut off from civilization can change people, make you see differently and the dynamics of relationships change. Lux soon begins to realize not is all what it seems and she doesn't know who she can trust.
This is the second book that I have read by Hawkins and what I like is that this is completely different from The Wife Upstairs. While the format is similar and I would call this a domestic suspense type book due to all the relationships involved in this book but the plot line and twists that Hawkins takes is completely different.
This book makes me miss the beach and vacations even more (Thanks COVID) but aside from that, this book is a roller coaster ride the farther you get in to it. Even though I was able to figure out the twists that Hawkins was going to throw out there, I was not sure how everything was going to play out. So this was a fun ride that does start off slow and seems just like people having a fun Island party but it for sure takes a dark turn.
There are three main POV that have both current and before aspects with them but Lux is the character that gets the most page time. And I’m not going to lie there were times when I would get Brittney and Amma’s POV confused when they were in the before chapters. I wish that there was not an Eliza POV as I felt like it gave too much away and assisted me in figuring out what was going to happen. I think the information that was given in her POV actually hindered the story.
Lux feels like a very real person, her insecurities, he wanting to run away from the pain in her life and thinking that it will solve all her problems. As many people know that doesn't exactly work, so there is lots of drama and self searching begins and not all of it is positive. So Lux does grows as a character in throughout this book and the events that happen in the Island really do change her, which i appreciate Hawkins doing.
I really enjoyed this book, it was a little bit slow to start with getting to know the characters but keep with it craziness is going to happen. I look forward to seeing what Hawkins comes out with next.
Enjoy!!!

I choose this book for the cover - it’s pretty and gives off “island vibes.” I thought it was a mystery, which it is, but it’s not what you’d expect. I hate to give out spoilers or rehash stories, so I’ll just say try it! Especially if you’re in the mood for a quick beach read.

I received an eARC of Reckless Girls by Rachel Hawkins from St. Martin's Press and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!
I'm giving this book 3 stars. It was overall well-written, just not the book for me.

Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher/author for providing me with an e-copy in exchange for my honest review.
This book was exactly what I wanted it to be! I loved it. I will make sure to check out other books by this author. When I requested this I was just intrigued by the concept of it and I loved how it turned out. This story had a great plot and if you have read this and enjoyed it, This was so much. It was such a great story. I would say give this one a try. I will continue to follow this author. Way to go to this author for not letting me down.

This is the second book I've read by this author and I enjoyed it. I liked all the mystery the kept me guessing as to what was going to happen.

Reckless Girls was a crazy read I had to read the last two chapters over To make sure what I thought happened happened. Love when I am surprised. Rachel Hawkens did a great job. Thanks Netgalley.

The first half of Reckless Girls was interesting and the overall premise was intriguing. Lux and her boyfriend are hired by Brittany and Amma to sail them from Hawaii to the deserted, small island of Meroe in the South Pacific. Soon after, another boat arrives with Eliza and her boyfriend Jake. All is good for a while, then the lies start getting revealed and chaos follows.
The ending felt rushed to me and preposterous. There were also quite a few plot holes that I couldn't get past.
I did like the setting and Lux as a character. The other characters - not so much.

Thank you netgalley and St. Martins press for opportunity to read this arc and provide my honest feedback.
Wow. This is my second book by this author and she definitely has a talent at pulling you in and keeping you engrossed where the words just flow and before you know it it's the middle of the night and you need to go to bed. Read this book in less than a day, which definitely helped me get out of my reading slump. Definitely recommend this for a creepy gothic stranded island type thriller that's fast paced and unputdownable.

Wow. This book was very good, though it has a slow start. There is a reason for the slow start, I found out. Once it gets going, you can't put it down. Awesome story!
Thanks to netgalley, the publisher and the author for a chance to read this advanced copy.

Reckless girls was a book by an author that I knew I loved but I had to be in the right frame of mind to read. This weekend was it. I read this book in 36 hours and loved every fast page word of it. A truly enjoyable adventure. Full of suspense and mystery. If you are looking for a fun read you found it! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 💫

This book was good. It has twists, unexpected turns and a great thriller tone. It was hard to put it down.

I couldn’t get into this book. The plot was something I would normally like but I didn’t fall in love with the characters.

I'm just going to be honest. This was one of my most anticipated reads, but it ended up being a DNF for me. I meant to pick it back up, but I haven't had the urge to at all. If I do, I'll update this later, but for now, I don't feel comfortable leaving an official review.
