I did enjoy this cast of characters, but not my favorite from Rachel Hawkins. I also really enjoyed the island setting - sometimes it's hard to find thrillers set in a bright, sunshiney place!

Rachel Hawkins has a lifelong fan. I really enjoy Reckless Girls! It is very well-paced and keeps you interested throughout the whole story. To me, the characters are very well written as well and stand off of the page. I can't wait to read more books by Rachel.

This was a mostly engaging novel, although maybe not an incredibly "thrilling" thriller. I was invested in the characters and did not realize who the culprit was in a genre that can sometimes be very predictable. Solid 4 star read. Thank you so much to the publisher, Rachel Hawkins, and Netgalley for my copy of Reckless Girls! Perfect summer read and I recommend it for all those mood/theme readers.

There were a ton of great reviews on this one so I was very happy to get an early copy, unfortunately it fell flat for me. It was more confusing than enjoyable and I ended up DNFing at about halfway because I could not get into it at all.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for this eARC!

I enjoyed this book overall, especially at the beginning. To start on the island it was very mysterious and full of suspense but also kind of magical with the remote tropical island setting. The middle seemed to drag a bit and it got pretty weird in some parts. I stuck with it though because the island was supposed to have this lord of the flies like quality. In the end though some of it was just not believable and it didn’t tie up all the loose ends tidily for me. I also got a little confused at the very end with brand new characters appearing. Overall 3 starts a decent read

I liked this book. It had some twists and kept my attention.. My rating is a 3.5, but closer to a 4 than a 3. It was the first book I've read by this author and will read more from her.

3.5🌟
Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
This was a fun thriller to read. It had romance, mystery and was a quick read. Think Lost meets Clue and the ending well that was worth reading this book!

This book had the most promise (from the synopsis) of any of Rachel Hawkins’ stories. Unfortunately, I think this my least favorite of all of them. While she and her books are widely popular, I’ve decided that I’m really just not a fan. I won’t be reading future books by her.

Unfortunately, this was not what I was hoping it would be. I thought I was going to be reading a thriller/mystery about a deserted island. It didn't feel like a thriller or a mystery to me... There was no tension or "building up" that something crazy is going to happen. Overall, I was very disappointed.

*Thank you @stmartinspress for the copy in exchange for an honest review. Review not posted to Amazon/Goodreads because less than 4 stars or DNF.*

This was another book that I had received as an arc but failed to review before it was published. For that reason I ended up listening to the audiobook version. It was short, only about eight hours long. I thought the book was pretty entertaining and fun. The story felt evenly paced until the end. You learn small clues here and there about the characters throughout the story. By the end of the book, it feels like everything is unraveling so fast.

I did like this book better than her other book The Ex Hex which she wrote under a different name. This book did what I expected it to, and I would be open to reading more from this other in this genre.

Hauntingly full of twists and turns, this book kept me guessing. Very well written. Fast paced. Rachel Hawkins is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors!

Rachel Hawkins does it again. Reckless Girls is an engaging thriller that's hard to put down. You won't find particularly likable characters here, but you'll be entertained and caught up in the drama.

The island setting is creepy and a bit claustrophobic, and Hawkins really ramps up the tension. Everything that seems innocuous at first (a trip to an exotic island, fast friendships with people you meet on vacation) quickly becomes creepy.

This is a page turner and it's a perfect beach book.

Fun, fast paced murder mystery. A trip to a deserted island turns into a fight for life. Who will make it out alive? Who is harboring a dark secret?

I received a free ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This was a decent read. I wouldn't say it is my favorite by this author, but it kept me interested,. The plot moved a little slower than I liked, but it had really good character development. The story was interesting with a few twists. Think Gilligan's Island with a twist.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for my digital copy in exchange for an honest review. It's funny, I can see that the reviews haven't been all that great for this book and I have NO idea why I had such a different experience but I did... The second I started this book, I didn't want to put it down...I was immediately drawn to the characters and to the story line. I didn't want work to interrupt my reading, I just wanted to sit in one spot and keep going until I was done and I knew what happened. Unfortunately, real life sometimes intervenes...it took me much longer than I would have liked...

Reckless Girls is a quick, easy thriller. It does go in some obvious directions, but it has moments where it gets unexpectedly tense, which redeems some of its more outlandish parts. Hawkins wrote the characters well, because they all seem so lost and broken in their own way. In the end, it is a little predictable, but I don’t feel like I wasted my time: there are a lot of twist and turns which makes this a breezy beach read.

Lux has drifted into love with Nico. Enough to follow him to Hawaii. Now, she joins him on his first tourist excursion to take Ama and Brittany to a secluded private island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Can they come back as the same people? Can they even come back at all?

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martins' Press for the opportunity to review the early release of this book in exchange for my review. Initially, I thought this book would be another cozy mystery full of beaches, love triangles, and maybe a dead body. For the first half of the book, that is exactly what it was... then things changed quickly!

I loved how the author let the reader get comfortable in their assumptions of where the story would lead to then, WHAM!! Disaster and Despair! The character arc between the couples was interesting as well. Truly nothing is as it seems. My favorite thing about this book is how the author used the historical articles as long-distance foreshadowing. I honestly didn't pick up on it until 60% into the story!

Literally, the only complaint I have of the whole book is the "woe is me" monologues and attitude Lux had while on the island. They got a little old and tiring after a while, which led me to believe she had little character development. (No Spoilers Here!) All in all, I really liked this story but the ending is what made me LOVE this book. I honestly never would have predicted this story's conclusion. Well Done!!

This was the perfect atmospheric read. This book just had you on edge the whole time even when everything seemed like it should have been perfect.
It had some good twists. Definitely a perfect book to read on the beach if you are a thriller reader

After the death of her mother, Lux follows new boyfriend Nico to Maui, where he has a boat and a plan to sail away. But before they can leave, his boat is damaged, and they can't afford to fix it. But while out at a bar one night, Nico is offered a lot of cash to sail travelers Brittany and Amma to a deserted atoll in the Pacific Ocean, and Lux is invited along. When they arrive, they're surprised to find another boat already there. They meet a wealthy couple with a well-stocked boat and decide to all hang out together.

Now, we all know this won't go well (and it does not go well), and as the group drinks and sleeps around, you begin to find out each one has a secret.

I was looking forward to this one, but I found that as the book went on, there were too many details about their drinking and not enough suspense or thrills. I actually started to not care if any of them made it off the island.

This was my first by this author, and I think I will still try at least one more.

Aah! I love Rachel Hawkins books, and this was no exception! Reckless Girls is an amazing suspense thriller that I couldn’t put down. I have gifted copies to my fellow mystery-loving friends, and can’t wait to read her next book.
