I tried twice to get through this book. I found my mind Wondering while listening. I may try again because I love this author so much. I have to say for now I found it tedious. I will update if I read it or listen to it again

4.25/5 listened on audio. It took about 25% into the book to get me hooked and after that I couldn’t stop listening! I for sure thought I had the situation figured out a few times but was proven wrong each time. Some suspense of disbelief required but otherwise a solid mysterysuspense novel.

I had previously read this one and was looking forward to the audiobook It was not a let down. The story is excellent and the narrators were excellent.
i left wondering how on earth does this author come up with her ideas. the plot revolve around a couple moving into a home in a gated community where all the homes back to a courtyard of sorts. This enables neighbors to keep an eye on each other or look out for one another. But the house has a past and the neighbors all have secrets. This book will have you questioning every single characters motive. This is a winner in either form

Leo and Alice purchase a new home that Alice later finds out was the location of a murder. Alice who is not the most likeable character becomes obsessed with the victim. It's an easy, predictable read. Sometimes you just want to punch Alice because things are so obvious. While I wasn't able to play the book through Netgalley, I did end up getting it through another source.

The Therapist is an absolutely gripping story of Alice, who moves into the gated community of The Circle with her boyfriend Leo. When she quickly finds out that there is a bleak and horrible history of the house that hasn't been shared with her, she gets sucked into a murder mystery, investigating and suspecting everyone around her.

I loved this book--it was written with great pacing, and it constantly had me guessing and wondering what would come next. Even when I thought I had figured things out, a new twist changed things. The audio was particularly great--the narrator does an incredible job of bringing the characters to life.

I was thrilled to see Paris return to a more psychological thriller style after her last book, while well written, felt like a bit of a let down only because I wasn’t expecting the departure in genre.. The Therapist can’t too my favorite of her novels, (The Breakdown is by far my favorite) it had a compelling story and the elements Paris does so well- suspicion that may be paranoia or legitimate, and a subtle mystery you experience as the protagonist experiences it. I flew through this and loved it!

Ugh, I mean, on the plus side, our main character acknowledges in the end that she was pretty dumb… I was just annoyed with her throughout the whole book. Between the all-consuming obsessing over an event that really had nothing to do with her, the constant poor decision making and assumptions, and just the general fact that we spent so much time in her head, I was bored and ready to be done.

Another fantastic BA Paris book that will keep you up at night and keep you guessing! I think they get better with each new release. More please!!

This book has everything you need to set up for a good domestic thriller: a gated community, neighbors that keep secrets, and a past murder. So I was pulled in from the very beginning. This book took a while to get moving but once it did, I was here for it.

I loved how this book switched perspectives between Alice and the therapist but the narrator didn't always make it super quick that we switched. Other than that, the narrator helped make the story great.

Definitely grab the audiobook! I'm not even sure to where to begin, but The Therapist kept me on the edge of my seat during the entire book.

I participated in a buddy read for this one and I loved seeing such a wide variety of theories and a mutual hatred of a certain character, lol.

There were so many moments that had me looking over my own shoulder while reading, and I appreciate when my own theories change every few chapters., that's always a sign of great story telling!

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑻𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒑𝒊𝒔𝒕 by B.A. Paris ★★★★ - A young couple moved into a gated community where everyone has something to hide. I enjoyed it and could not put it down! This will be an incredibly quick read for any thriller lover.

I had a hard time getting into this audiobook. I quit listening for awhile but someone told me how much they loved it so I persevered. Olivia Dowd and Judd Harris did a good job with the narration. The premise of the story was good and there were lots of twists and turns. Most I found plausible and some I guessed early on. I never really warmed up to Alice or Leo and couldn't really relate to them. Alice just seemed like a mousy little thing to me. Maybe a little more backstory would have helped. The neighbors were portrayed well and captured a group of close neighbors reacting to a newcomer very well. The climax of the book was well done and believable. I received this as an ARC from Netgalley. I would give this author another chance with a written version next time.

Thank you NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for my audiobook. Alice moves into a gated community called The Circle. When she finds out something unsettling happened to the previous resident, she goes on a mission to solve the mystery behind the disturbing secret. Her obsession leads her down a dangerous path where trust and honesty is questioned at every turn. Are her neighbors trustworthy friends, or is something more sinister hidden behind this picture perfect community. As the list of suspects grow, Alice senses impending danger, fearing the answer she is searching for could be closer than she realizes. The narration added an extra layer of intrigue and suspense that kept me interested and entertained.

I’m a big fan of B.A. Paris and her psychological thrillers. In The Therapist, Alice and Leo have recently moved to an exclusive gated community. Alice learns a horrible secret about the woman (Nina) who used to live in her house, that Leo kept from her. She starts to investigate and, at first, none of her neighbors are willing to speak to her about Nina. I do feel the way Alice approached her investigation was a bit reckless. She wasn’t my favorite protagonist from this author.

There is a lot of twists and turns to get to the end, but the ending was just okay. The book had a lot of characters for potential suspects, but they were easy to keep track of.

I did have an advance listeners copy and thought that the narration by Oliva Dowd and Thomas Judd was very well done. They provided the right amount of suspense.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for an advance copy of this audiobook in exchange for my honest review.

3.5 stars but rounding to 4 stars for Goodreads.

I found this book entertaining that the fact there is a mystery behind the house that was purchased by Alice and Leo. I think anyone in Alice’s position would be either spooked or intrigued but both? That’s pretty perplexing on her part. The main pet peeve I had about her is that no matter how scared and how much she complained about the house, she still stayed put. why?? And not to mention she was pushy when asking her neighbors about the woman who was murdered. She didn’t seem to be too concern on how it affected them until she did all of her interrogation.

This seemed like an amateur investigation and a whole lot of paranoia. I really couldn’t pin point who the culprit could be but that was good though! It did however dragged on in halfway of the story but overall this was a good mystery book. I give it 4 out 5 stars.

Alice and Leo move into a beautiful home in an exclusive neighborhood.
Alice wonders how they were so lucky to find such a great deal on this house in this community. Soon, Alice finds out that their home housed a murder suicide.
The more she learns, the more she is convinced that things are not what they seem.

I really do love this author I loved behind closed doors and the break down but this book didn’t keep me interested maybe it’s just me but it wasn’t something I cared for much

This past week I had the pleasure of listening to The Therapist by B.A. Paris.

I have previously read Behind Closed Doors by this author. While this book had rave reviews, I was somewhat in the minority as I had found it to be predictable from the beginning. That being said, I liked that it was an easy, fast paced read and I felt the author actually did a great job telling the story. So I knew I wanted to try something else by her.

The Therapist did not disappoint me. Once again a fast paced easy read, but I found this one had more twists and kept me guessing.

If you are a fan of psychological thrillers it’s worth checking out. The audiobook was also easy to listen to.

This book had a lot of fun intrigue and suspense - I wanted to like it more than I did, but several twists were just so poorly set up and didn't even make sense. The audiobook reader did a great job, but I just couldn't get over the parts that didn't fit with the way the book was set up.
