Another great book. So easy to read and the book make you anxious to turn to the next page. So realistic and the characters always remind you of someone you know. So exciting I couldn't stop reading until I got to the end. Looking forward to the next book!

Ahhh, this was an eyeroller. I hear previous works by this author are great but this one is a disappointment. The main character is too dense to be believable. There are lots of lies among the various characters and nearly everyone is set up to be the killer at some point. It's never a good sign when the big reveal comes and elicits a groan from the reader/listener. On a better note, the narrator is fantastic and definitely helped the book. It's not the worst thriller I've read, but it's not one I'll be recommending to anyone either.

Thank you to Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for the audio ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I received an advance audio of this book for review provided by NetGalley.

Audiobooks have been saving grace for getting my “reading” in. There are a few things that makes an audio enjoyable for me. First is the narrator, they need to caption my attention immediately and secondly the story has to be good to keep my attention since I’m not physically reading. The audio received was in a computer voice of the narrators and even with that short coming (for myself) I still found the audio enjoyable, mostly because the story was interesting and had my attention.

I love a good domestic murder/ mystery. Especially when there are so many secrets and suspects. The Threapist delivers in those aspects. This is definitely a good book to grab for the beach. It’s easy and quick to get through. Especially with its July 13 release date

Overall I gave this 3.5⭐️

Thank you Netgalley for this audiobook edition of The Therapist by B.A. Paris.

First, the narration was great! And I love it when they use narration to add intrigue and spin to the text. It makes it feel more like your listening to a show instead of a book.

But now the book. It's interesting, and readable. There are hooks that get you right at the beginning. But OHMYGERSH, it's an eye roller. This main character, someone tackle her for me! I can't go into detail lest I spoil, but there were so many just brain itching inconsistencies, it hurt. The story stayed interesting until the end, but I just could not get over how silly and OTT it was.

Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for an advanced listening copy in exchange for an honest review.

The Therapist is a mystery/thriller novel about a woman, Alice, who has just moved into a house in a gated neighborhood in London, trying to get used to the new neighborhood she's moved into. However, there's a secret about the new home that her boyfriend hasn't disclosed, and it sets into motion a twisty mystery about an unsolved murder and the potential connection her new neighbors might have with it.

I enjoyed this book, though it didn't really stand out to me as really fresh or unique - if you read a lot in this genre, you know that after a while, it takes a special book to really surprise you or stick with you. II guessed the "whodunit" aspect relatively early (though I have the habit of doing that with a lot of mystery and thriller novels.

I listened to this on audiobook and thought that the narrator was a a good choice for the novel. If you enjoy the genre, I think you'll like this one, especially if you like neighborhood secrets and the dramatic aspects that type of mystery can have.

Thanks NetGalley, author B.A. Paris, and Macmillan Audio for giving me a free arc of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
4 stars
Would you live in the house where a murder took place? Who are the people that live in the circle? This book answers those questions and more.
Alice and Leo move to The Circle, an exclusive gated community. The house is in a wonderful neighborhood and the people within the community, but all is not what it seems. Alice comes to find out Nina, a woman who previously lived in their house, was murdered. This causes Alice to become obsessed with wanting to find out not only who murdered Nina, but also why. The book takes off from there. The audio narrator had such a great voice. I loved the pacing of the story as well as how the author was able to create threads that connected the evidence that led to the identity of the killer and a whole lot more! I was a little confused by the actions of Alice at times, because of her own kept secrets made her act out of guilt rather than rational thought. The ending was well wrapped up! Overall, another great domestic psychological thriller that will keep you reading until the very end!

When Alice and Leo move into a beautiful home in a gated community they immediately dive right into the social circle. But when Alice learns about the tragic end to the last homeowners she begins to question everything.
When I saw this available on netgalley, I had to push all my other books to the side and start this one. I am big B.A. Paris fan and have loved all of her previous novels.

Ok so B.A. Paris just gave us another great twisty mystery. There is just something about her writing- it is crisp, it is believable, and it will keep you guessing. This is mostly a straight forward thriller- with one storyline with only a few "past" flashbacks throughout.

This one was so hard to put down and I found myself doing extra chores so I could keep listening to the audiobook. The suspense was high on this one and I made some wild guesses to who the villain truly was. But wow was the twist satisfying...

The narration was very well done. It was easy to follow and rich with a British accent for the London setting.

Highly Recommend.

B.A. Paris is vastly becoming one of my go to authors. I absolutely love every book I read from her.

The audio of The Therapist was wonderful. I had everything figured out in my head, The Who done it and I was sure I was right this time. But no, I definitely wasn’t. This is what I love about her books, I’m always surprised and that’s awesome in a book when so many times you can easily figure out the plot.

I’ve been a huge fan of audio books lately because I just don’t have a lot of time to sit down and read an actual book. And The Therapist in audio is so so good! The narrator did a fabulous job, I highly recommend this book or audio.

I was really excited about this one because her last book, “The Dilemma” was my favorite of hers by far but unfortunately this was my least favorite.

The premise was great. The first tenth of the book introduces us to a young woman who unwittingly moves into a house where the previous resident was murdered. In an attempt to meet the neighbors in her cul-du-sac, she throws a party. It should be a fun ice breaker but the neighbors are sharing whispers and the arrival of uninvited guest makes her uncomfortable. The whole thing is set up to take a nefarious turn...... but never does.

The main character investigates the previous residents murder herself (badly) and the eventual conclusion is not something you could have pieced together. Just not a fan of this one at all.

Alice and Leo move to The Circle, an exclusive gated community. Alice finds out the previous owner, Nina, was murdered. .Alice becomes obsessed as to the who and why the murder happened.

I liked this audio...Slow build up. .I thought there was too much details about the neighbors and their lives that could have been lessened a bit. I figured out the killer early on but still.highly recommend.

My thanks to Net Galley and the publisher for this audio.

This was a twisty little thriller that really packed a punch! I loved secrets and the way this one unfolds. I kept getting surprised again and again! The characters were great, and I felt they were believable. I liked the situation and how it affects everyone. The pacing was a little slower than I would have liked at the beginning, but it definitely gets going and doesn't stop!!

I was provided a gifted copy of this book for free. I am leaving my review voluntarily.

Alice moves in with her boyfriend, Leo, in a house in an exclusive community in London called The Circle. Then she learns the former resident, Nina, was murdered there. And, strange things begin happening in the house.

I figured out whodunit fairly quickly, but still enjoyed the ride, twists, and atmosphere. B.A. Paris never disappoints.

B.A. Paris does it again! I was so thrilled to receive this arc! I read Behind Closed Doors years ago and still think about it! I always recommend Paris and she’s on the top of my list for authors-to-read.

The Therapist is another thrilling, mysterious Paris masterpiece. Alice and her boyfriend Leo move into a tight knit “circle” of homes. The neighbors all seem to be friends and know each other’s business. Alice invites everyone for drinks in an attempt to join the circle clique. Afterward she is approached by a man (PI) asking what it’s like to live in a house where a murder occurred. Alice is upset and absolutely shocked as she had no idea. She becomes obsessed with what happened to Nina (the previous owner). This man becomes a large part of her life as he’s the only one she can tell her findings to.

Alice begins to suspect everyone in the circle, as did I. It even drives a wedge between her and Leo. This story kept me on my toes the entire time. I was constantly trying to figure out whodunit before Alice. Paris scatters clues throughout the story but it’s never obvious.

I couldn’t stop listening to this! I had to know how it would end for Alice and what really happened. I even would rewind and replay to see if I missed a clue. I loved the British accent of the narrator & that there was a separate male narrator. I think she really brought Alice to life. I’d love for this to be a movie! Great thriller read!

Excellent narrator! Started on audio, finished on Kindle. This really pulled me in and immersed me as Alice tried to fit in with a closed neighborhood where everyone already had bonds--and secrets. An enthralling page turner, with lots of clues, and creepy atmosphere in what should be an idyllic space. Wavered on giving it 4 or 5 stars, because it was a fast and fun read, but I was picking up on the clues much earlier than Alice did. Thrilling ending, though it could have been fine to leave the epilogue off IMHO.

Alice and Leo decide to move their relationship to the next level. Instead of Leo coming to Alice's little cottage in the country, he jumps at the opportunity to buy a house in a tiny gated subdivision called The Circle, in London. The house was selling far below what one would expect in that neighborhood and Leo couldn't miss the opportunity,

While Leo is away for business, Alice finds out that the house has a history that Leo did not share with her. She finds that her trust in Leo is faltering. If he could hide this from her, what else isn't he telling her? Does she really know him after only spending weekends together?

Alice finds herself working to help figure out what really happened to the former owner but the answers are hitting to close to home for the neighbors who don't welcome her prying into the past.

Alice, Alice, Alice. So many missteps and so many secrets had me wanting to shake her. If anyone was in need of a therapist, it was probably her.

This was a good, fast-paced mystery, loaded with suspicion and misdirection. Great audio narration made you really feel like a fly on the wall.

Holy Holy what a book!
Well written, dark and clever. A compulsive read that had my guessing right until the very end.
This unique writing is what captures me. Amazing job well done.
A normal suburban life may not be all it seems to be.
Thank you NetGalley, St. Martin's Press and author for this great audio book!

Shocked!!! I thought I knew what was going to happen early on but dang I was wrong! This was a slow build but definitely worth it!

So...
I've enjoyed this author's books, but this one was a slight miss for me. If not for the fact that I got an advanced audio copy, I would have given up early as the story was far too slow to be a thriller. It read more like dry chick-lit. Alice just wasn't a compelling character to keep up the story.
Though at some point, it did pick up. I can't say when. However, most of the twists that came late in the story, I guessed. The only one, a certain secret, was lost to me. Probably because I was never invested in that character.
I will admit, early on, I suspected everyone until it was obvious who it was--before the reveal that is.
One small complaint--I thought for sure UKers were more into tea than coffee. Maybe that's changed or I'm just not well informed as I'm not a UKer. But it struck me as odd that everyone was going on about coffee and not tea. Hmmm
Overall, I can't say it was a bad read (or listen). I've certainly endured worse. This just isn't my favorite from this author and it happens.
If you enjoy mild suspense and this author--I say give it a go. You might really enjoy this one.

Thank you St. Martin's Press for the Advanced Copy.

I liked this book but it really took a few different twists I didn't see coming. It wasn't my favorite book by this author. But I was able to listen to the audiobook fast enough that it held my attention

When your name is B.A. Paris, you have to answer to a higher authority.

Reader expectations are sky-high and you're expected to deliver.

This being said, I was a fan of B.A. Paris's earlier books and, therefore, I had high expectations for "The Therapist". Unfortunately, I was disappointed by the book's slow pace and overall mediocrity.

I listened to the audiobook and although the book's narration was superb, many times I had to pinch myself to stay awake while listening to repetitive dialogue (especially in the early chapters) that lacked spark. In fairness to the author, this book did pick up in the last couple of chapters but waiting for this moment seemed like an eternity.

In addition to the book's slow pace, I had a major problem getting into the protagonist's head. Much time in the book was allocated to the fact that unbeknownst to the protagonist, a murder/suicide had occured in the home that her partner had just purchased. I would be very upset if my significant other did not tell me that a horrific crime had been commited in our home but I would not spend all my waking hours talking about it. Instead, I would either move out or decide to make the best out of a bad situation.

Also, since the murdered therapist had the same name as the protagonist's dead sister, the protagonist felt an obligation to find out everything about the crime and stay in her home. Huh????

Although this book was not in the same league as "Behind Closed Doors", it could be a fun beach read. The major problem that I had was that I was not relaxing at the beach while I was listening to the book.

I always love it when audiobooks have multiple narrators and both of this book's narrators did a superb job.

Special thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

3 stars, rounded up.
