To be quite honest, this just isn’t my kind of book. I was expecting more of a YA modern retelling of Robinhood and well, that’s not really what I got. I’m not a big smut reader and I completely respect those that are but just not my cup of tea. With that being said, the narrators Maxine Mitchell and Joe Arden were really good and if the story was more of a genre that I enjoyed, I’m sure it would’ve been wonderful.

Thanks to Booksharks and Podium Audio for the ALC for review.

Thank You @booksparks @netgalley for the audiobook. I really enjoyed The Guy on The Right by Stewart so I was excited to listen to this. I was drawn into the story with trying to figure out what Sean and Dominic’s secret. Sean and Cecilia’s chemistry was off the charts! And to add an extra partner - whoa! I enjoyed the dual narration which feels more natural with both Cecilia and Sean’s voice. I am vested in the story and will be reading Exxodus.

What is your steam scale? Are you an open door or closed door romance reader?

Believe me when I tell you I turned the air conditioning down and fans up when listening to this steamy adult romance. Flock, by best selling author Kate Stewart, is the first in the Ravenhood series and I am already looking forward to the next one, Exodus, which is already available on Kindle Unlimited. (The ebook copy of Flock is available on KU too)

I haven’t read a romance like this is a long time and it was a nice change of pace. I listened to it on audio thanks to @BookSparks, @podiumaudio, and @authorkatestewart ! Listening to this one sure made doing my household chores go by pleasantly!

Joe Arden's narration (of Dominic*): ☆☆☆☆☆
Plot: ☆☆☆
Cecilia (and her histrionics): ☆
*Arden's voice for Sean sounded like a stoner/surfer, which was significantly less enjoyable than the dark, broody voice of Dominic *swoon*.

I want to say that I went into this book without really looking into what it...er...entailed, but boy did I learn quickly!

Upon further inspection, this book is labeled as "steamy, suspenseful romance," and it certainly checks that box. I was practically blushing the whole time I was listening to it and loving it. (I unfortunately learned it was NSFW while I was in the office and had to scramble to put my headphones.) And as much as I thought Sean was a phony who playing the part of enlightened, off-the-grid, frustratingly cryptic iconoclast, I still got heart palpitations with Arden's excellent narration.

Plot-wise, there's not much substance until the very end of the story, when you've gathered enough tidbits of information to get a better sense of what this big secret is. But Stewart incorporates plenty of elements of secret society/shady business, which commands a low-level amount of intrigue throughout the story.

So was this the most earth-shattering book in the world? Absolutely not. Will I be listening to the other books of the Ravenhood series? You bet your bottom dollar!

Thank you to BookSparks and NetGalley for my gifted copy of this audiobook!

Genre: Romance
Trope: Love Triangle
Pub Date: 7.27.20
Star Rating: ☆☆☆☆
Steam Rating: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

“My greatest hope is to be in an all-consuming love. My biggest fear is to be in an all-consuming love.”

Well, this was an unexpected read for me. I started listening to the audiobook through @netgalley courtesy of BookSparks and thought I was in store for a story about a girl coming to terms with the demons of her past. Nope, I was wrong. This is the story about a girl falling for two men in the classic love triangle trope.

🔥 Holy steamy moments (lots of them)
🔺 Love triangle
😰 Suspenseful
🤔 Some parts were a little confusing
😬 Unhealthy relationship vibes
🔥 Did I mention the steam?

For those of you who read Twilight, Hunger Games, or any story featuring a love triangle and always hoped the author throws a little steam into the storyline.. yeah, this is the book for you. There are two more books after Flock in the series and I plan to read them.

I don’t even know who I am anymore! Kate loved a steamy romance? What!? ⁣

This isn’t my typical genre - not because I don’t like it - I’m just always drawn to thrillers, contemporary fiction, or even rom-coms first. But I decided to give it a shot and …. I LIKED IT. I mean, I really, really liked it!⁣

I’m not sure I’ve ever read romantic suspense before, and this one has so much mystery, dark, secret society vibes, lots of steam - and it hooks you right in and doesn’t stop. Oh, and there is book sex.⁣

Yes, you read that right - book sex. ⁣You’ll just have to read it to find out! ⁣😆

I immediately downloaded the second and third books on audio in The Ravenhood Series and I have even been recommending it to my seasoned romance reading friends!

So yep, that’s me now - you’re new go-to for romance recs. OK, OK I wouldn’t go that far… but THIS is definitely one I’d recommend!⁣

Cecelia has more responsibility on her shoulders than anyone her age should have to bear so when she finds herself not only living with the father she doesn’t know but working at his corporation she is willing to agree knowing that in one year she will be able to live the future she wants.

She has always done what was expected of her and been the daughter that most parents would wish they had. When she meets a co-worker, she is drawn into a world she doesn’t know or understand and is conflicted between her mind telling her to run in the opposite direction and her heart telling her to stay.

So many secrets, so much intrigue and heat that radiates off the pages all lead up to an epic cliffhanger that leaves us needing to know what the future holds for Cecilia. The narrators were a perfect choice for the characters and the story.

This audiobook was AMAZING! I really found myself trying to solve the surrounding mystery around the town and all its secrets. It was definitely steamy and really just had me questioning what the truth was. Overall great book I now need book #2 & #3 because I need to know what happens! I did receive this audiobook from booksparks and podium as part of the summer reading challenge 2021.

Flock is a spicy modern day Robin Hood re-telling and I loved every second of it. This book had me staying up all night because I simply could not stop listening to this audiobook. Even when I wasn’t listening to it, I was constantly thinking about it.. Flock is a tension-filled, atmospheric, ride that keeps you on your toes. I can’t wait to dive into the second book. The narration for this audiobook was incredible and I highly recommend.

Thank you to BookSparks and Netgalley for this audio!

I went into this book totally blind and I am glad I did, because I don't think the story was as interesting as the synopsis made it seem like it would be. I listen to a lot of audiobooks, but I'll be honest - this one wasn't it for me. I loved the narrator of Cecelia, but didn't really like the character. I really didn't like the male narration, it was hard to believe the voice for me. I think if I finish this series I will definitely read the physical or ebook copy. So despite all the things that didn't work for me, I was interested in how the story played out and the ending has me wanting to read more.

Wow! I went into this book without knowing what it was about and it had a little bit of everything; parental abandonment, mysterious secret brotherhood, drugs, an amazing love story, and lots of steam!! I thought it was well-written, the plot was engrossing, the characters engaging and despite their flaws they captured my heart. It ended with a suspenseful question mark and I can't wait for the next book in the trilogy. I can only imagine that it will also be 🔥🔥🔥
I listened to the audiobook on my @sudio Fem earphones all in one day and I really enjoyed the narration. Hopefully I will get to listen to the next two books in the series too!

I received a gifted copy in exchange for an honest review.

I was excited to listen to this audiobook because so many people were "raving" about it (hehehe). I enjoyed the narration of Joe Arden but Maxine Mitchell's voice didn't aid my connection with Cecilia, the heroine.

Cecilia starts off seeming independent and more confident than she turns out to be. She came to live with her absentee father who owns a bunch of businesses while leaving Cecilia and her mother to struggle to live. She meets Sean at her father's factory and they connect. I hated her dialogue with Sean. He couldn't answer simple questions without trying to sound like some old philosopher. A simple conversation felt like pulling teeth. In between meeting Sean's friends, and Cecilia's dad, I surmised that Cecilia is attracted to people who don't seem to care about her. It is almost like she feels challenged to make them see she is worth loving and she will get their affection if it's the last thing she does. That's the only reason I can see her giving Dominic and/or Sean the time of day. It's like the daddy rejection, part deux.

The author tries to portray Sean, Dominic and the Ravenhood crew as good people who may do unsavory things to help the downtrodden. But I don't connect with them anyway because of their attitudes. I liked the narrator because this voice gave range of emotions with the guys in contrast of the girl narration that made Cecilia feel pathetic.

This audiobook ended on a cliffhanger and the next audiobook isn't out on yet. I can't say that I am waiting on pins and needles but Im curious to see if Cecilia has some personal growth in the next book.

I was excited to get the chance to have the audiobook version of this book to review.

Kate Stewart is an undeniably gifted writer. She has this way of sucking you into the story right away. Her stories always evoke so many emotions. She never plays it safe and she surely didn’t try to play it safe here.
I’ve LOVED some of her previous books and been not so in love with some others.
Unfortunately the latter was the case here.

The book starts out with our heroine (honestly couldn’t be bothered to remember her name) so she’s in the town where her biological father lives in. She’s going to start working in her father’s company to save money. Soon enough she’s starts a relationship with the manager at the company.

There isn’t really much I can say about this book that won’t “spoil” it.
The book is filled with secrets and mysteries but none that I could actually bring myself to care about it.
I couldn’t understand what has happening most the time and I’m positive had this not been an audio version, I would not have completed this book.

That being said, the narrators did an amazing job and kept me engaged as best as the could.

I won’t touch on one of the bigger “spoilers” in this book but I think that it would’ve only been fair to the potential reader to know and decide for themselves. It wouldn’t have deterred me from reading the book. I’ve just seen it done better.

This book was a DNF for me. I couldn't go past a few chapters because I found the writing style to be extremely clunky, awkward, and overly embellished and this made it difficult to get into the story

WOW. WOW. WOW.

I don't even think I can write a normal review for this one. Because I’m simply at a loss for words. I went into this book completely blind. And I’m so glad that I did. This is my second book by Kate Stewart and it reminded me why I love her writing. It’s absolutely impeccable. Everything about this book was amazing. The relationship between Cecelia, Sean and Dominic was great and they had such a great dynamic. The emotions and feels this book gave me are just too much to describe. I also had the pleasure of listening to this on audio, Maxine Mitchell and Joe Arden did such a great job with this book. I don't want to, but I’ll be waiting very impatiently for the audio for book two.

This is a must read/listen!!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

If there was any story in the world that you should go into blind not knowing anything about it.....Flock would be it! I finished last night and I'm still in awe of this masterpiece from Kate Stewart. The characters.......the story......the mystery.....the suspense. EVERYTHING about this story will consume you like no other. I honestly don't want to say anything else, because even one little tidbit will spoil it for you. But this is one of those stories you need in your life! So thankful I have Exodus waiting for me, because I need more of Sean, Domenic and Cecelia right now!!

And the audio narration of this story - ABSOLUTE PERFECTION!! Maxine Mitchell and Joe Arden nailed their performances. I cannot think of anyone better than this pairing to bring these characters to life. And when they spoke the little bit of French - they were incredible! Both of them just made this story even more enjoyable and even though I love when Maxine voices the male characters, there was just something about hearing Joe voice Sean's character that had me melting. Cannot wait to listen to the rest in this series!!

*** Awkwardly opens and closes mouth with amazement *** This is going to be super short and sweet! Flock is a novel that needs to be read without preparation... do not go around reading a bunch of in-depth reviews. Just sit down, get comfortable and bury your nose into this story until you're immersed... it won't take long!

I've always been a mystery/thriller lover. Putting a puzzle together is my favorite and I tried so hard here to put this puzzle together. I have ideas. Lots of ideas but my mind is so messed up over this sexy and delicious, secretive and suspicious, completely unique and just plain mesmerizing book. I'm just unsure of who and what to trust.

This book, I'm guessing the entire duet, will be on top books all over the place when 2020 concludes. I'm certain Kate Stewart's Ravenhood duet will be in my top 10, if not the top 5. And I'm certain of this with reading only 1 book in the duet and on July 30th. THAT is how much I'm rocked by this story. Ok so this review wasn't quite as short as I expected... I think this is my lost in a maze while drunk review, since that sums up my mind state pretty well!!

I didn’t know a ton about Flock before I read it, and I think that’s the way to go into it. It was full of emotion, adventure, and a ton of steam.
I’ve seen it said that the book starts out a little slow, and I agree. It takes time for the characters to be introduced before the action can really start. I didn’t mind waiting because I found the characters and the mystery around some of them to be very interesting. And once the action got going, it got going…
Celcia was a good character. I definitely saw her 19 years, but I also appreciated that she seemed to learn from her mistakes and by the end of the book she was stronger and in my opinion a more likable character. Sean was
The audiobook was good. I did feel like most of the men in the book sounded similar, but I really can’t complain about Joe Arden’s voice at all. I really enjoyed that this was done in duet narration because I don’t think it would have been the same at all with just one female narrator. I did think perhaps Maxine Mitchell sounded a bit too old for the character, but I enjoyed her performance and it wasn’t anything couldn’t get past.

3.5 stars
I really like Kate Stewart. I wasn’t prepared for this to be erotica which isn’t my favorite. While I enjoyed the story I felt it needed more depth. The narrators are great and I enjoyed the duel narration. It ended in a cliffhanger so of course I’ll be reading the second. If you love erotica this is for you. Otherwise it’s a story filled with lies and mystery and I enjoyed that.

3 stars for this one. I love the narrators but the story just drug on. I didn't even make it to reveal her "sickness". I usually stay away from NA/YA reads for a reason and was reminded of just why when I began this one.
