NOT DEAD YET by Barbara Ballinger and Margaret Crane is subtitled "Rebooting Your Life after 50." I was curious to see what these seventy-something authors would recommend, but I found the text to be too centered on their own stories. Also, it was difficult to summarize their points – having checklists, charts and links to resources would have been really helpful. Yes, there are some questions at the end of several chapters, but those lacked follow-through (e.g., Have you started to take Social Security, or when will you? Are you thinking about taking on new work to fill in the gap of a paycheck or social interaction?). Notes and a bibliography are included; there is useful information here for those with the patience to search for it.

First of all, great title!
I enjoyed this book, knowing that the authors were women who have been through it all. It's practical, amusing, and works as a reference book as well. I think we'll be seeing more and more books along these lines and this one is a good model of the genre.
