This is a quick read that starts off so well with a great opening. A girl left for dead, who can't remember anything that happened and one girl still missing - it was great. I definitely prefered the first half. For the seriousness of the content matter, the overall tone is surprisingly very light. Literally everyone is made out to be a potential suspect at some point or another and there is a lot going on - a little too much for me personally.

I did however give it extra points for the amnesia angle, I thought that was a really good idea that was done well. Indi's flashbacks of being in the water were actually terrifying, so points for that. And also for the Brandy flashbacks - very Alison DiLaurentis-esque.

It definitely has that 'bingeworthy Netflix teen drama' feel to it. The kind you know is "trash" but you live for it anyway. The kind that starts out so good but eventually devolves into an over the top mess but you still can't stop watching because you've already devoted so much. There could be an entire episode dedicated to each subplot. It would also give time to flesh out each character.

One thing I must mention though is the constant referencing of Indi's parents by their first names. Like they were her foster parents or long-distance cousins or something. Considering this is a third person narration from Indi's perspective, "Nathan this" and "Dawn that", it was weird and very jarring. I've never seen it done before and I honestly hated it.

I would rate this book 2.5 out of 5 stars.

I went into this with really high hopes and we love supporting a NZ author but I was disappointed with this.

The way characters react to the whole situation with the main character is just bonkers right from the get go, the police apparently have no idea of any kind of police procedures, the main character was annoying to read from in terms of perspective and the ending was way too over the top.

It's decent. It wasn't really what I expected but it was well written and enjoyable for the most part. I would probably read it again. Characters are pretty well drawn and interesting.

This is a really good thriller! I really enjoyed it! You have teen drama and murder and all I have to say is I binged this so fast because it was ridiculous but also cool. Literally that is all I have to say

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to review this book.

India wakes up in the hospital about being kidnapped, assaulted and traumatized, but she has no memory of anything. She doesn't remember anything from the last few months, really. It seems she's become a person she doesn't know, with a group of new friends, including the notorious Brandy, the most popular girl at school, who is missing.

This book is delightfully twisty, with a lot of characters and misdirects. It kept me guessing all the way through, and I liked that.

DNF. I just could not get into this book. It was uninteresting from the start. Additionally, I found the writing to be awkward. May work for someone else, but this one gets a no from me.

Shadows In The Water read an average teen scream thriller. It was actually better then I expected, it was easy & quick to read, the story definitely moved along quickly. The main character basically has accident induced amnesia and it's trying to remember how/why her good friend ended up dead and also go she herself barely escaped with her life. There were a few twists & turns I saw coming, and a few I didn't. Overall I'd recommend to anyone who likes teen scream thrillers.

Thank you to Netgalley & the publisher for an ARC in exchange for a honest review.

Dnf on page 40, the swearing in this book was absolutely ridiculous! There was f bombs on almost every page and like I said I only read to 40 pages. I would have appreciated this book if the author kept the language mild, this book should be adults not teens.

Wow, this book.
It keeps me absolutely *glued* to the pages, with an unreliable narrator, gradually unveiled back round info that somehow just made everything more puzzling and suspenseful, and constant twists. I mean truly, I can’t say I have ever read a thriller where I could predict so very little in advance!!
Well crafted plot, as well. So impressed.

⭐⭐⭐⭐

Books like this are like crack to me! Teenagers, murder, a little farfetched, a little cheesy. The type of book that I would binge if it was a Netflix series! 😂

PROS
-- Well written
-- Fast paced
-- Entertaining plot
-- Twists and turns
-- Relatively large cast of intriguing characters
-- Satisfying ending (more to come?)

CONS
-- A little farfetched (a few things left me scratching my head 🤷🏻‍♀️)
-- One issue I can't really explain because it will give part of the plot away, but I felt this person should have faced consequences (legal) for their actions.
