Eliza Curran seems to have it all - an adoring husband, two healthy children and a big house but in reality she is trapped in a controlling marriage in a house that feels more like a prison than a home.
She takes on a project to refurbish a flat to rent and that is how she meets the charming Dan. He charms his way into the family as a way of getting close to Eliza, even dating their au pair as an excuse to visit the house.
Eliza is an alcoholic who has managed to stay sober for eight years, but the further ingrained Dan gets in her family, the more she struggles with resisting the urge to drink. When things come to a violent end - she starts to realise that Dan is not the person they all thought he was - but can she convince those around her before its too late?
It doesn't take long before you start to take sides with the characters which keeps you turning the pages to find out who wins.

While Martin is in a wheelchair at home and is incredibly driven to prove himself and how his injuries haven't changed him or stopped him from being an overachiever, his wife Eliza is falling for their new tenant, Dan.

In this great book, there are plenty of twists and turns which come out of the blue and smack you hard in the face! There are some real spine chilling m0mets that make you question everything. The characters are well developed and there is an amazing ending.

You really should read this at least once!

Well this novel definitely is full of twists and turns leaving you unsure as to who to believe and who not. Emma Curtis manages to fill it full of lies, addiction, revenge, abuse, and jealousy. All culminating in a murder whodunit.

I found this novel gripping and very well written but all of the main characters were unlikeable for a variety of reasons. It definitely keeps you guessing right to the end

Oh I really can't say enough about this book! It's absolutely not what your are expecting it to be. The characters are so well written and you definitely won't see the twists and turns that are ahead. Every time you think you've got a handle on what's about to happen, it's all completely flipped and you're back to wondering what is going to happen next. I loved everything about it from the writing style, the fast pace, the unexpected twists, the really horrific characters, the constant building of suspense, it just completely captures you and won't let you go until you've finished

This was my first novel that i've read by Emma Curtis, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Eliza lives in a luxurious beautiful home, her husband is a self made millionaire and she has two beautiful children, However sadly Eliza is trapped in an unhappy marriage to her husband Martin who is abusive and controlling, To have a distraction Eliza restores an old flat and she is very much taken with her new tenant Dan, with his good looks, boyish charms she can't help but fall for him, However Dan isn't all that he seems and soon Eliza realises that he has a hidden agenda for coming into her life, but why? and just how far will he go?

I was hooked from the very first page of this book and I could NOT put it down, I also love first person perspectives in books and really enjoyed Eliza's narrative , There was also lots of unexpected twists and turns which kept me on the edge of my seat!

l was hooked from the beginning with well drawn characters (you may not like) and a plot that keeps you involved as the tension builds and the story unfolds. Delving into marriage,control,secrets and revenge,what a truly engrossing read!

If you want a fast paced who done it book then this one is for you. Emma Curtis knows how to write books that keep you hooked from page one. I won't give too much away but this book is filled with unlikeable characters yet you won't be able to put it down. Eliza is married to Martin (pretty unhappily). They live a wealthy lifestyle, with their 2 children and a French nanny. Martin has adapted their beautiful home to suit his needs as he is wheelchair bound. Soon their lives change when they rent one of their properties to handsome Dan. One of the characters is murdered but why. Utterly brilliant.

Invite Me In is a book that had been sitting on my TBR since the end of May and I have no idea why I waited so long to read this one. The author tells an intriguing story about how easy it is to let people into your life without knowing too much about them. How the right attention and a few good excuses can blind you to someone else’s motives and how easily that decision can turn out to be life-altering.
This was my first encounter with Emma Curtis’s writing. She unravels her story piece by piece while she leaves you wondering about the various characters and why they do the things they do. In this book the author lets the reader believe they can predict the ending, keeping you comfortable and then suddenly turning the tables. I loved how cleverly this book is plotted.
Eliza is unhappy in her marriage, but her abusive husband knows exactly how to keep her in line and prevent her from even considering the idea of leaving him. When Eliza unexpectedly meets Dan, she discovers she is attracted to this handsome man. He allows her to feel alive again, but is she prepared to risk her family to have an affair with this man?
When Dan finds ways to become a part of her life, she is flattered until he appears to be having a relationship with her au pair. Eliza does not trust Dan. Has she allowed him to get too close to her family? Who can she trust? When things start falling apart and old secrets are brought to light Eliza finds herself isolated and confused with no idea who to trust.
This thriller packs a punch. The story starts easily and for the first half of the book you are waiting for something to happen – you know things are going to go wrong but you cannot predict what it is going to be. When the action starts, you feel as if your world is turned upside down right along with Eliza. This book has a brilliant ending, and you will not want to put it down before you reach the very last page.
Martin Curran is a strong successful man; despite his accident, he has managed to make a success of his life. Initially, you are drawn to this strong character, but as the story unfolds you soon discover that he is not quite what he seems, and you start disliking him intensely. Dan Jones keeps you guessing, is he in love with Eliza? Or is there more to the man? The author did a fantastic job with this guy, you are drawn to him and rooting for him even while his actions do not exactly add up.
The author created a masterpiece with Eliza. She is an abused wife, she discovers her attraction for Dan, but she never quite gives herself over to it. She has a bad past and she has ended in a bad relationship and just when you are convinced that she is too weak to stand up for herself she surprises you. I loved this character.
Invite Me In is a marvelous read, the characters are beautifully drawn and the storyline keeps you guessing. I had so much fun reading this book. I cannot wait to get my hands on more books by this author.

The tense is building up, and you can't find a way out! The plot kept me seated on the edge till the last page, read it almost in one sitting - I couldn't put that down!

Highly recommended for a mystery thrillers reader, this book is different, will not let you go so quickly. Absolutely captivating reading!

It was well written and I really liked the character of Eliza, and the mysterious Dan, Eliza is so well written as character I felt as if I knew her. It is a thrilling book and one that could easily be made into a TV drama.

Wow what can I say Emma Curtis has done it again. This is such a brilliant read that I read it in almost one sitting. It had me gripped and on the edge of my seat the whole way through weekend and was a tense psychological thriller. Invite me in is full of intriguing characters and lots of twists and turns in the plot and really kept me guessing until i has finished reading.

This would be the perfect summer holiday read.

Eliza Curran seems to have it all, a fantastic home, two lovely children, a French au pair Isabel to help out and what seems to be an enviable life. However, her husband Martin, confined to a wheelchair after an accident, presents a different public face to his private one and beneath the trappings of a privileged life lies something festering and rotten at its core. When Dan Jones becomes one of their tenants things change and worsen exponentially.

This is a good domestic noir which has you asking questions throughout. Is Dan too good to be true? What’s his game? Where are Isabel’s boundaries? What binds Eliza to Martin because it sure isn’t his personality?? This has so many layers to it and it’s entertaining peeling them back to try to get to where the truth lies. There is so much tension you can literally feel it, giving frissons of unease that ripple down your spine. There’s tension between Martin and Eliza as she lives an eggshell treading existence, there’s sexual tension between Dan and Eliza, between Eliza and Isabel and where does she fit in with all this testosterone that’s in the room? None of the adult characters are especially likeable, they’re deeply flawed and damaged but that’s what makes it immersive reading! You want to feel sorry for Martin but he’s basically a nasty, prize piece of work. Isabel needs a sock right in the middle of her bouche, Dan grows less and less trustworthy by the minute and how reliable is Eliza? The growing hatred amongst them all is palpable, relationships are toxic and made more so by the deceptive actions of some of them. The Curran household begins to feel a nasty, claustrophobic place. There are some very dramatic, suspenseful, gasp inducing scenes and actions that take your breath away. When you learn the twisted and twisty truth it all slots into place.

Overall, this is a really good and gripping thriller that examines what motivates people to behave as they do. It’s one you won’t put down once you’ve started.

Eliza is married to Martin and, despite the fact that an accident has confined him to a wheelchair, all seems pretty good. However in private Martin is a controlling, overpowering influence. When a new prospective tenant Dan comes on the scene Eliza is charmed by him and dreams of getting out of her abusive marriage. However, not is all as it seems. It is a fairly well worn path of marriages with secrets and betrayals but is well told and there are plenty of twists to keep the reader interested.

Psychological thriller.
Eliza is married to Martin but it’s not a happy marriage. Martin is manipulative and cruel to Eliza - he knows her secret and uses it, money and their children to trap her in the marriage.
They are wealthy and Eliza works part time doing up properties and renting them out. Her new tenant Dan inveigles his way into their lives. Flirting with Eliza, their au pair Isobel and becoming friends with Martin.
Someone is found murdered and it turns into a real whodunnit.
Great writing kept me hooked until the end which was quite different from what I expected.
Good characters though I didn’t particularly like Eliza. Some of the storyline was a bit unbelievable but still enjoyable.

If I tell you that I felt furious almost the entire time whilst reading this book, then you may think that contradicts my next statement: I loved this book! It's only a very skilled author who can elicit such a strong emotional response, and I would have walked through fire for our main protagonist Eliza to free her from her overbearing, bullying, controlling bastard of a husband!

From the very first moment Dan and Eliza meet and he cheekily introduces himself as her future tenant in the newly renovated flat she is renting out, we hear that Eliza is deeply unhappy. After ten years of living with a man who watches her every move and is emotionally abusive, she is desperate to leave her marriage. But her husband Martin holds some type of power over her, and she is trapped. Is it any wonder then that she would easily be charmed by her handsome, easygoing new tenant?

It's at this point that any similarities between INVITE ME IN and other likeminded domestic suspense stories end. As Eliza's trap tightens and she is becoming ever more desperate, lonely and isolated, I would have willingly finished off her nasty husband myself. Again, it's only a very skilled author who knows how to release her readers' inner psychopaths ;) And of course it's not as straightforward as that ...

When the twist came, I was and I wasn't surprised. I knew that the author would wait for an opportune moment to pounce and send her readers into a tailspin. But I had no idea how evil and twisted this plot development would turn out to be!

I'm not going to give anything else away. It's best to enter this story blind and let yourself get swept away in its emotional maelstrom. INVITE ME IN is that rarest kind of thriller- one that both chills with a constant sense of menace and danger and also blindsides you completely. I enjoyed every minute of it and read it in almost one sitting because I couldn't tear myself away. It will easily make it onto my favourites list this year and I highly recommend it to readers who may have become a bit jaded by the predictability of the domestic noir genre. As each dysfunctional character stumbled towards the inevitable finale, there was nothing predictable or formulaic in this story. Well done Emma Curtis!

It took me a while to get into this book, partly it's the usual story of wealthy people in a marriage gone wrong and I think I have read too many of these. Furthermore, the characters are not very nice people and it's hard to get emotionally involved. But at about halfway it got me and overall I enjoyed it.
Eliza is married to Martin who is rich and owns properties, they have a large house and two children. There is also a French au pair who looks after the children. Martin is paraplegic following an accident some years before and partly because of that, he is very controlling of his wife Eliza. Here comes a new tenant for one of their houses, a charming guy called Dan who is infatuated with Eliza and she starts to confide in him. But bad things happen, Eliza's best friend who is also Martin's sister stops talking to her and the French au pair behaves in a funny way. At this point, secrets will have to be revealed and expect a few twists along the way. It's an ok read especially for people who like stories involving married couples.

It’s a page turner with some really horrible characters, and a main female lead who is a bit of doormat. Really felt Eliza really need to deal with her self esteem issues.
