Felicity Goode is the last of her sisters looking for love. When her life is in danger, she unknowingly brings Gabriel into her life. These two are both damaged by their pasts. Together they must fight off the threat against Felicity while managing the undeniable connection they share. It's steamy, sexy, and oh so sweet. Fans will find that Gabriel was worth the wait! There are shocking revelations and surprising twists. Some of which I hope lead to more stories. I'm not ready to say goodbye to this family of characters!

This was a pretty good book. Gabriel and Felicity are characters you really feel for and have sympathies towards. They have certain niche's that I like to see play out for this genre so I was very intrigued from the start. Now, without getting too spoiler-y, I was frustrated with some vague explanation for such a physical turnaround for Gabriel. Lots of questions and kind of scratching my head a bit. The author kind of "magics" away certain things I don't think are realistic but we're forced to just move on. But as for the the story itself, it was engaging and had a good pace. I will admit the ending felt a bit rushed. I would've loved to see more of these two together and really hash out everything. Overall, it was a pretty decent historical fiction for me.

After the death of her parents, Felicity Goode inherits everything with the condition that she marries a man with a rank above Viscount. When she suffers an attack, our heroine decides she needs to hire a bodyguard.

Gabriel Sauvageau has loved Felicity from the first time they've met. After getting a new face, he always watches her from far. When she accidentally discovers him, she hires him.

This books was so good! Gabriel is a disfigured hero, who has seen and lived only violence in his life and would do anything to protect Felicity. I loved that even though she suffers of panic attacks, his presence makes her feel safer. Their chemistry was powerful but at the same time was pure.. I loved them very much..

I haven't read the rest of the series (I will have to fix this), and I loved that the writer gives us enough information from the previous books to connect the dots and meet the family, but at the same time not giving everything away.

I received a free ARC and these are my honest opinions..

I loved this book. Every word was exciting and perfect and I raced though it but didn’t want it to end. I loved the writing (no surprises here, Kerrigan Byrne has a great writing style), the plot (just enough suspense in the middle of the romantic story), loved seeing the Goode sisters and their husbands make an appearance, and most of all I loved the hero and heroine. Felicity and Gabriel were not perfect, they were flawed and they each had their personal issues to deal with but they were a joy to read about. They were eachother's oposite but still perfect for eachother. Their interaction made me smile and feel all warm and fuzzy inside. The chemistry between them was sizzling. It is truly swoon-worthy romance; troubled, alpha male hero meets smart gentle woman and bam - he can't help falling in love with her! It was different in the sense that that Gabriel is a man who has been through alot in his life, and has somehow used his experiences to pave a successful future for himself. Truly remarkable when you consider all that he has been through. It's a miracle he didn't give up. It's what made me root for him. Felicity was a wonderful heroine and perfect for him. She was charming, slightly naive and very compassionate. I loved the two of them together and I thought the pace of the romance was perfect.
Ms. Byrne wrote a lovely, heart-warming love story and I loved it! It is a perfect example of everything I love about historical romance. If you love HR and haven’t read this one, then please do, I don’t think you will be disappointed. What a wonderful read!

*Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.*

I am always clamoring for the next Kerrigan Byrne book. She never fails to take a plot that sounds so bananas and dramatic but still manages tear at your heartstrings and make you care so deeply for characters that feel very real.

Gabriel and Felicity couldn't be more different then their siblings from the prior book in the series. Gabriel has deep scars both inside and out due to a horrendous childhood that left him with only his brother to trust and love. When Gabriel is called upon to save Felicity in the prior book, that all changes.

Bespeckled shy Felicity sufferers from extreme social anxiety and panic attacks and is the exact opposite of her vivacious twin sister. When her sister sets off on her honeymoon with Gabriel's brother, (you don't HAVE to read the prior book but it will help set up the dynamics.) Felicity is left with only the household staff for company. When mysterious threatening things start to happen she decides she needs to hire a bodyguard.

The very cool twists and turns toward the end add another layer onto the Goode girls and had me unable to put down the book.

Absolutely cannot wait for the next one!

Even though this is book 4 in the series, I did not have too much difficulty following along. There were some things that had happened in the previous books that involved both the main characters in this book, but I felt like I was able to catch on pretty quickly. What I loved most about this book was the absolute devotion that Gabriel felt toward Felicity. He had no intention of doing anything about it except to keep her safe from afar, he doesn’t believe he deserves anything as beautiful as Felicity. Unfortunately for him, staying away was not to be. During one of Gabriel’s self appointed guard duties he was mistaken as a bodyguard for hire that Felicity had just posted. Her financial circumstances had recently changed and that has placed her in danger. For Felicity, her life has been full of fear and anxiety, and normally facing a stranger, especially a man who is as large and scarred would have her retreating immediately, but something about this man made her feel bold, relaxed, and safe.

Felicity and Gabriel’s story definitely pulled me in from the very beginning. There are many twists and turns and secrets that were revealed, which had me turning those pages. The romance was a slow burn but with both of them so damaged, emotionally and physically, it had to be. But once they give in to their true feelings it was beautifully done. Virgin heroes are normally not a favorite, but the way Gabriel was portrayed made me love him so much more. I do, however, have to say the ending seemed a bit rushed but it did not take away my enjoyment of this book. Overall, this was a great book and I am looking forward to reading the previous and future books in this series.

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for giving me the opportunity to read this complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.

After reading the previous book, Dancing with Danger, this book was just what I was looking for!

There is nothing I love more than the redemption of a brutal hero by the love and care from a sweet and innocent heroine.

Gabriel Sauvageau, former braun of the Fauves has started a new life thanks the magic of plastic surgery. His face has been brutally disfigured since the age of 16, now he is able to go out in public and not be recognized as the monster he was.

Gabriel plans to leave England, but before he does, he must check on the lady he has loved from afar, his brothers wife sister, Felicity Goode. This excursion sets into motion the events that end in Gabriel being hired as Felicity’s personal body guard since she has had multiple suspicious attacks lately.

Oh- how I love a good forced proximity romance! This romance between Felicity and Gabriel was so sweet as they both fight with their feelings for each other. Feelings that are new for both of them! Swoon!

This story was as dark and grimy as I usually expect from Kerrigan Bryne, but in this case I didn’t miss it because the story didn’t call for it as Gabriel protected his society lady and escorted her to her balls. I loved with opposites attract match, good and evil, and the sizzling chemistry she created between Gabriel and Felicity.

Tempting Fate by Kerrigan Byrne is scheduled to release May 11th, 2021.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Oliver Herberts Books through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I loved it, as I do most of Kerrigan’s books. I am disappointed that the books seem to be so short, and somewhat rote at this point. Byrne is churning them out so frequently (every other month or so) and the quality has markedly gone down as a result. She’s still an auto read for me, for now, but I’d love to see more careful craft and less focus on quantity going forward. Felicity at least was a unique character, and I LOVED that we got a virgin hero since it made him different from all of Byrne’s other heroes who, frankly, all tend to seem like basically the same guy.

Kerrigan Byrne once again creates a wonderful world of romance. Felicity is the last of the Goode sisters to be married. Someone is trying to kill her so she hires a body guard, who despite his scarred features and imposing form, doesn't intimidate her. You won't want to miss this next installment of the Goode Girls series.

An exciting, romantic and passionate end to the Goode sisters series. Gabriel Sauvegeau has had his face reconstructed after spending most of his life terribly disfigured. Before his surgeries, he fell in love with Felicity Goode, whose life he had saved. Now he has the opportunity to renew their acquaintance with a new name and face., while again trying to save her life. Felicity is a shy and generally fearful woman who is subject to bouts of severe panic attacks The relationship between these two damaged, sensitive people is moving and involving.

Well. Kerrigan Byrne did it again, and I can't say I'm surprised. This was such an enjoyable and interesting read. The main characters were absolutely wonderful, and while they didn't seem as though they would complement each other, they fit together so, so well.

Felicity Goode is the youngest Goode sister, who has severe anxiety and panic attacks. She is fearful of many things, but she is such a sweetheart.

Gabriel Savageau is a brutal and brutally scarred man, but he also has a soft and gentle side that Felicity especially brings out in him.

I loved how protective and possessive he was of Felicity, and I really loved that he was inexperienced with women. The slow burn between Gabriel and Felicity was delicious and when they were finally intimate was even more so.

The pages of this story absolutely flew by, and I can't wait for more of this series. Note to self: go back and read Nora's and Mercy's books.

NetGalley review- lovers of historical romance will be drawn to the MCs in this story. The tortured soul, Gabriel, falls for the anxiety ridden Felicity, but knows he isn’t good enough for her. So, he vows to protect her from the threats she faces. Such a good read! I didn’t realize there were three books in the series before this. I guess I have my next reads mapped out for me!

Gabriel stole my heart!

Is it wrong for me to say that I fell in love with Gabriel in the last book, the one that gave us his brother's romance? Rafe was - and still is - quite delicious, but the quiet, broken, hulking Gabriel got to me from his first scene and I was so very happy to finally get to read his story.

Felicity is the more timid of Goode girls, the shy, introverted, anxiety-plagued one whose twin, Mercy, is now happily married to Rafe. After Gabriel saved Felicity's life at the end of the last book, Felicity (and the entire world) is led to believe that Gabriel died from his wounds.

A year later, Felicity needs a bodyguard but, temporarily without her spectacles and after he's had extensive reconstructive surgery, she doesn't recognized Gabriel when she stumbles into him in front of her home and assumes he's there for the bodyguard position. As soon as he learns about the threats and attacks on her, you can bet your life that Gabriel will be the hero she needs!

I loved how Gabriel was so devoted to her even from afar, and I was especially charmed by the gentle, slow path these two took to getting to know each other and falling in love. It was so sweet to watch these two share so many firsts with each other, neither one having had any romantic experience of any kind before. There's just something about a man who is both a dangerously protective killing machine and a gentle slave for his lady that gets me swooning every time, and Gabriel is all that personified.

The family history that comes out in the end was masterfully done, freeing all parties concerned and serving up all the well-deserved justice to the villains. The HEA was so sweet, I just had to sit and sigh while I took it all in.

I was impressed even by the little things, like the excellent lines about strength and who really holds the power, and the refreshingly rare, accurate use of octave and decibel. I've loved everything I've read by this author, but this story is my absolute favorite. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

I have read a lot of Beauty and the Beast stories and I love the trope but there is something extra special about this one. Gabriel is truly the beast. He is all that a beast entails except he has a heart. I guarantee you if most women had a choice they would choose Gabriel over anyone else. He is big and protective and swoon-worthy. Felicity sees the good in him and never lets him forget it. Their love story is truly epic. Kerrigan writes stories that will make you feel deep down. She brings these tortured hero’s and heroine’s stories to us and leaves us to bathe in their beauty. The end of this story is so magnificent that I dare you not to cry.

I really loved Gabriel and Felicity's story but I would have loved for it to be longer. Also, I hope the series continues since we now have some more discovered Goode siblings.

I have been waiting for the story of Felicity and Gabriel since the moment they met in Seducing a Stranger. While Mercy and Raphael sizzled and popped upon their first introduction, it was clear that, despite barely speaking, Felicity and Gabriel were two magnets drawn two each other, destined to be reunited. In fact, they nearly stole the story from Mercy and Raphael in Courting Trouble. So, it was with great relief that Tempting Fate was released and I was able to read their story at last. It lived up to its promise.

Gabriel is a scarred soul, battered in both heart and body after years of abuse at the hands of his father and further pain as the head of a criminal gang. He sees no good in himself, nothing of value. All he has ever been able to offer is his size, his body as a weapon – occasionally for protection, but usually for destruction. In Felicity, the youngest of the Goode sisters and his sister-in-law, he sees everything that he isn’t – hope, beauty, light, and innocence. He feels unworthy of even being in her presence and yet is drawn to her repeatedly. When he learns she is in danger, he knows he cannot rest until she is safe even though being in proximity to her is sweet torture.

Felicity, consumed by anxiety and fear, Gabriel should be her worst nightmare, but is, instead, her only source of peace. Inexplicably drawn to him against all sense, she finally finds the courage to take charge of her life and grab the future she wants.

The desperation and need that simmers between the two as they struggle to come to terms with the powerful force pulling them together is heart-rending. Gabriel is one of the author’s greatest heroes (and she has created quite a few good ones). I definitely needed another 100 pages to spend with them. This is romance at its finest.

This is my fair and honest review, voluntarily given and in my own words, for this ARC. I have read the rest of this series and I have to say, I am a fan. The characters are so multi-dimensional with each having a certain something that endears the reader and makes you want more.

I have really enjoyed the Goode Series, and have really been looking forward to Felicity and Gabriel 's story, ever since they met two books ago. Both of them are characters that have been damaged by their lives and really needed the traits the other person offered to balance them. Gabriel brings out the boldness in Felicity and Fecility brings out tenderness in Gabriel. I could have done with less violence, but still enjoyed the story.

Thank you for giving me an ARC for my honest opinion

Rated 4.5 Stars

I’ve been eagerly anticipating Tempting Fate ever since Courting Trouble and I’m happy to say it didn’t disappoint. Gabriel and Felicity are opposites yet they fit so perfectly together. I loved how gentle he was with her and how she saw beyond what everyone saw when they looked at him. I thoroughly enjoyed their story. There’s a bit of suspense, action and sexy times among other things. I definitely recommend this book and series.
