This book was a little more technical for me rather than just an overview which is what I was looking for. I probably should have read the description and reviews in more detail.

What a remarkably thorough examination of divination and its history. This book covers a full range of all sorts of divination tools, their uses and history, cultural influence, and how to apply such practices to your craft. I was blown away by how comprehensive this text is.

Some of the photos and illustrations used really date this book and make it feel like it's from the 90s. But other than that, this is a very quick, simplistic read that offers a basic intro to fortune telling and with focus on sects such as Tarot, palm reading, numerology, Runes, etc. A fun introduction overall!

For anyone who is interested in the art of divination, this book explores many of the methods in which people have practiced the art of fortune telling throughout history to the present. The book is very easy to read, and has many illustrations that are quite helpful in explaining each of the methods of fortune telling and the historical background for each divination technique.

This book also discusses technique and how to better understand the interpretation of the answers one has received from their intent. The book is a quick read, but it is such that the reader will want to go back to the contents of the book to discover more information in its pages. I found the book to be quite informative and helpful.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ -- Brought me back to my younger years!

This was an outstanding reference book for all things "fortune telling". It was visually pleasing, with a lot of illustrations and photos. Packed full of facts and information. I especially enjoyed the "Tarot" section. You also get sections dedicated to runes, crystals, palmistry, numerology, tea leafs, scrying and several more! This reminded me a lot of a book I had as a young teenager. I can see this being a very welcome gift for someone who is interested in the occult and fortune telling. 🔮

This is a great book for anyone who is curious about divination. It details several that will give an idea of which you want to explore. I like that it included a few the new or casual reader might not have heard of. It gives enough information to let you get started with practice as well as leaving room for personal exploration. There are easy to understand instructions as well as illustrations that help make this perfect for beginners.

This is an excellent overview of many divination methods.. It's perfect for deciding what method or methods spark an interest. I especially enjoyed seeing both Easter and Western methods in the book. The only way to improve this would be to include some books and/or links for a more in depth look. There are too many places out there to get misleading and wrong information.

The Fortune Telling Dictionary is like every divination fan’s dream as a first encounter on the subject. The book covers so many types of divination, so this is a perfect reference book for later use, as well as getting that basic information on things such as tarot cards, palmistry, numerology, runes, I Ching, crystals, pendulums, tea leafs, geomancy, scrying and ceromancy.

In the beginning you have an introduction to what fortune telling is, and where it comes from. It gives some history and facts to the different types of divination, and it has a very nice introduction to each subject. I absolutely loved the tarot section as I’m on my never-ending journey to learning how to read tarot, and it gave a very nice cool look at the symbolism and how that symbolism transfers to each arcana.

I think the only thing I want to point out is that the overall look inside the book was a bit whimsical, and as a graphic designer with a lot of care in layout design, I would have loved to see this book in a more mystical design. But, the information feels good, the language is easy, and it has lots of references that you can fact-check and continue reading on! I will definitely try out some of the spreads for tarots, and I am definitely going to share some of the fun numerology “tests” with some friends!
