This is a really lovely women's fiction book, which I found interesting since it takes place over one day. We are shown the lives of four people who are all connected somehow. As we read about each of the characters, we become close to them, and we get invested in their lives and stories. The four people that we meet are Maisie, a 25 year old singer from Glasgow, Scott, who is 38 years old, Kelly, the 38 year old wife of Scott, and Harriet, who is 80 years old. This is a great summer read, with beautiful writing, and it kept me entertained and engrossed for hours. Highly recommended!

Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book.

I read this book whilst on holiday in Cyprus and it's just the right sort of book for those warm summer beach days. All the characters had their own quirks and foibles and I loved them all. I haven't read a Shari Low book before but I will definitely be reading more.

The fabulous Shari Low is back with an addictive, absorbing and insightful new novel: One Summer Sunrise.

Maisie McTeer has naturally never forgotten that fateful day she had been jilted at the altar. Still haunted by the events of that devastating day, Maisie knows that the only way she can move forward with her life is if she faces her demons and tries to put old ghosts to rest. Today is the day Maisie is going to track down the ex who had abandoned her, but is she prepared for the maelstrom of emotions she is about to uncover? Should she have left the past where it belongs? Or will facing up to the truth finally help her heal?

Since the loss of her husband, despair and anguish have become regular companions for Harriet Bassett. Every day, she finds herself struggling to get out of bed as she feels as if she has absolutely no reason to live anymore – until she spots a familiar face in a crowd that for the first time in a very long while makes her want to see whether there is more to life than grief and sorrow. Does Harriet have the courage to take a leap of faith and a chance on herself? Or will she continue to hold herself back?

Scott and Kelly’s daughter is leaving home and Scott is about to tell his wife that he is walking out in their marriage to pursue his dream of rock and roll stardom. Scott has got everything prepared until Kelly drops a bombshell of her own that could put paid to all of his plans. Is this a new beginning for Scott and Kelly? Or will Kelly’s news only succeed in pushing the two of them even further apart?

Between sunrise and sunset, Maisie, Harriet, Scott and Kelly are going to go through the entire gamut of emotions, but will happiness be within their reach? Or is disappointment and regret going to be in all of their futures?

Shari Low writes brilliant stories about love, loss, families and friendships and in One Summer Sunrise, she deftly explores the complexities of relationships, the struggles of continuing to put one foot in front of the other when wracked by grief and finding the courage to make your voice heard sure to strike a chord with readers and have them laughing and crying.

Shari Low has a superb gift for creating well-drawn characters readers will find themselves drawn to, empathizing with and sometimes angry and frustrated with as well and that is certainly the case in One Summer Sunrise.

You can never go wrong with a Shari Low novel and in One Summer Sunrise she has written one of the must-read books of the season.

I've previously enjoyed Shari Low novels so was very pleased to be given an advanced copy of One Summer Sunrise to read and review. I really enjoyed this story and got straight into the plot from the first page. I was pleased to recognise some characters from One Day in Summer. I was expecting a light hearted read and was pleased to find a deeper story covering issues such as IVF and leaving home.

Thank you NetGalley for an advanced copy. I will be recommending this.

One of my favorite authors, her books produce such joy in me to read. This too unfurled over 24 hours with characters seen in the earlier book. The book evoked so many emotions as I connected deeply to the characters. I loved how the author's resonated with my own belief of Carpe Diem of living life to the fullest in the now. Relationships were beautifully etched. A wonderful read, indeed

I personally found the book slow moving, but the premise was interesting. The drama unfolding kept you busy at not wondering what was going to happen, but how it was going to unfold. Most of it was pretty much a given by the first part of the second chapter and you figured by the middle of the book the ending. . I never read this author before that I can remember, but it was definitely not one I would go seeking.

I received a free advanced copy from NetGalley and these are my willingly given thoughts and opinions.

This is a feel good story that covers a 24 hour period in the lives of 4 people. Maisie is going to look for an ex that left her at the alter, Harriett will find a reason to live, Scott is going to tell his wife he's leaving and Kelly is going to tell Scott they are expecting a baby. All four story lines are excellent reads. This theme of a short time span with multiple characters is Ms. Low's style and there are several characters from her previous books in this one. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I always enjoy Shari Low’s books and this one is no exception. She can make me laugh and cry within the same chapter and her characters are always people you either think you know or would love to meet! I saved #onesummersunrise for a day when I had no other plans as I know I would want to read it in one sitting and that is exactly what I did.

I love all of Shari Low's writing and this one was no exception. Looking at the different experience of love and all its intricacies across people of different ages, this one pulled at the heartstrings. The tale of different members of the same family told across the same time frame, this story is both emotional and uplifting.

4,5 Stars

The newest installment in Shari Low's "One Day" series follows a group of characters (almost all of them are "new", only very few already made an appearance in the former books) over the course of a day. For most of them it is a very special day. The day their grown-up kid is leaving the nest. The day they might meet long-lost relatives. The day they want to finally leave their spouse. The day they discover they are pregnant. The day they have to face hurtful moments from their past.

I was honestly interested in all the different stories, there was nobody that didn't interest me. I really like the way Shari Low shapes her characters and gives them a voice. Just sometimes she could be a bit less repetitive when it comes to the inner monologues of her characters.

But that is really the only thing I have to criticize. The rest was truly enjoyable to read during "one summer sunrise" (or maybe a bit later in the day, too).

This book is another perfect summer read from Shari Low as we get to meet a group of people who are at pivotal moments in their lives.

Over the course of one day there is plenty of shocks and surprises that hopefully lead to the answers the characters are looking for as their fates beautifully weave together between the pages.

I was particularly drawn to Maisie’s story, she is a 25 year old who has recently been jilted by Nathan on their wedding day. Despite her heartbreak Maisie helps brings such warmth and humour to the story especially during her interactions with Sissy, her pregnant best friend.

Harriet is also a wonderful character that brings some difficult, intense and tear jerking moments to the book. She is a widow with a backstory that is touched with tragedy, loss and regret that takes you on an extremely emotional filled journey.

Shari Low's novels are impeccably written - with larger-than-life characters and words that keep you turning the pages until late in the night.
Her books always leave you feeling satisfied and her new book - One Summer Sunrise does not disappoint.

Harriett Bassett is an elderly lady living on her own after her husband has passed away. A stay in hospital changes the course of her life and she crosses paths with Maisie McTeer and Scott and Kelly Bassett.
Scott and Kelly's daughter is preparing to leave home and today is the day that Scott will tell Kelly that he wants a separation, however, fate has a funny way of dealing with people's plans.
Maisie McTeer is covering an event where all of our characters meet (her best friend is in labour) and the event is set in the place where she was due to get married.

Well written, a perfect book to lose yourself in its pages.

'One Summer Sunrise' by Shari Low is an uplifting story that I thoroughly enjoyed reading. One thing I must say is I have never read any of Shari's work before but have heard so much about it. When this came up for tour I amazed myself by being interested after I read the synopsis. So here I am with my thoughts on the book.
The story takes place over one day and we follow the lives of four different people who are all brought together by a fundraising concert for a theatre group. Some of the characters don't seem to be connected but as the story unfolds the links become apparent. The first character we are introduced to is Maisie. She is 25 and is an actress/singer from Glasgow. Maisie was jilted at the alter two months before the beginning of the story by her fiancé Nathan. Her two friends are about to have a baby, so Maisie stand in for them as a caterer for an event that is hosted by Maisy’s friend, Carny. Then we have Scott Bassett, a 38-year-old who is feeling his life is not what he wants. He is in the process of trying to work out how to leave his wife and his job as well. He and his best friend Carson are both attending the event that his daughter, Carny, is hosting.
The third character Kelly Bassett is the 38-year-old mum of Carny and wife to Scott. They have been together since they were 16 when she was pregnant with Carny. Kelly has a secret she is keeping.
The final character in the story we meet is Harriet Bassett. She is a lonely 80-year-old woman who is recovering from a hip injury. After losing both her husband and her son and having no-one else she is struggling with her day to day life.
. I got so wrapped up in these peoples lives that I finished this in one day. The characters are all so lifelike and real. Their problems and issues so relatable along with the romance and the dilemmas that come with the romance too. A story that has quite a lot going on and there are so many emotions running throughout, even grief and guilt just like in life. No-one is immune and these characters all play their part in this lovely summer read.
A fabulously woven tale of family, friendships and the emotions they experience over the day. A book I am so happy I chose to read.
Thanks to Rachel's Random Resources and Boldwood Books for the copy of this book.
