This funny and feel-good story was just what I needed. I laughed and cried and sometimes I laughed so hard that I cried. This great tale is an absolute must read. I loved it.

I must firstly apologise for the amount of time it has taken me to provide a review of this book, my health was rather bad for quite some time, something that had me in hospital on numerous occasions and simply didnt leave me with the time I once had to do what I love most.

Unfortunately that does mean I have missed the archive date for many of these books, so It would feel unjust throwing any review together without being able to pay attention to each novel properly.

However, I am now back to reading as before and look forward to sharing my honest reviews as always going forward. I thank you f0r the patience and understanding throughout x

I have had a good track record with Admans’s books and was looking forward to reading this one. But this one really was not my favourite. I thought the chapters too lengthy, the setting too stagnant and the love interest too, well, wet.

I fell into this story pretty quickly, finding Felicity’s narrative voice to be warm and easy-going. Her life in London sounds chaotic as she is sent on ludicrous errands by her selfish boss. It’s something we have seen before in other novels and I knew that when Felicity was returning to her home village, this would be the chance for her to change her life for the better.

Except this return is shrouded in deceit. Felicity is back at Lemmon Cove acting undercover for her property development company, finding out what is going on about a protest that is preventing a luxury hotel being built on the clifftops. Arriving at the scene, she discovers an old childhood flame and a group of eccentric geriatrics, fighting for the future of this land. The older characters were quite entertaining but I did find their quirky behaviour a bit tiresome and unoriginal. I think this style of older character has been done too frequently before and I don’t think Admans has done anything too different here.

Chained to the ancient sycamore tree, Ryan is determined to save this plot of land. He clearly has feelings for Felicity but I found his puppy-dog behaviour to be a bit irksome. He is unequivocally gushing over Felicity and practically panders to her all the time. Living in the tree in order to protect the site was quite sweet but I thought it was a bit far-fetched, especially how Ryan has to pass the chain over to other protestors (like the older people), if he wanted to leave.

As such, the majority of the story takes place on this small plot of land and although I enjoyed the stories that came from the tree carvings, thought that there was something always missing from the novel. The discovery of the strawberry patches was a brilliant way of helping to raise awareness of the local plight, but I wanted Admans to move the story away from the cliff-tops and explore the local area more. Furthermore, having a broader character list would have added to the variety of the story too.

In the end, I thought this story was quite prolonged and I grew increasingly uncomfortable at how far Felicity was willing to bend the truth in order to not be discovered. Inventing wild stories about her career and why she is really returning home was only going to end in one way – I just wished that had come sooner. Instead, most of the story is just different ways to prevent the land being bulldozed, building community support, and lots of lovesick behaviour from Ryan. It was not the magic I was anticipating.

Overall, this was definitely not one of my more favoured reads from Admans. This writer has a skill at creating magnificent stories with warm, likeable characters and a beautiful setting. Yes, the setting is there, the foundation of a wonderful story is also there, but I think it was Felicity and Ryan’s behaviour that had the narrative crumbling for me.

With thanks to HQ Digital and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I absolutely loved this women's fiction/romance book, which was just amazing, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The story is about a woman called Felicity who goes back to her hometown Lemmon Cove through her work, to try to convince the residents there to give up their local magic three hundred year old tree, so that her work bosses can use the land for property development. When she gets there, however, she meets her childhood sweetheart Ryan from fifteen years earlier, and the lovely local residents, who are all surrounding the tree to protect it. The tree is a wishing tree, and many people love and adore the tree, so they don't want it to be removed. Felicity gets close to Ryan, the residents and the tree, so she is unable to do her job. However, she doesn't tell Ryan about her job at first, so it all gets a bit messy when he finds out why she is really there. Will he be able to forgive her?

I really loved this story, especially the part about the tree, as I love trees and I feel a special connection with them. This book is so magical, special, heartwarming and uplifting, and I recommend it highly! I have read a lot of Jaimie's books, and they have all been amazing!

Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book.

An enjoyable read, something a little bit different from your average romance, with a cast of OAP's, pet sheep, and a tree in the main role!

Sweet, cute, and charming read. While I wasn’t as engaged in this specific storyline, the characters and their actions were so endearing that I had to see it through. Picture perfect ending that made for an enjoyable read.

Another great read from someone who is definitely an auto-buy author for me now.
There is something incredibly magical about Lemmon Cove and I don't just mean the wish granting Sycamore tree.
I love all the characters in this, especially the residents of the care home. Their stories and the history of the tree are what made this so special.
The author has a lovely writing style, I devoured the book in one afternoon, I just didn't want to put it down. I cant wait to read more by her.
I'd love to see this setting become a series, maybe Cheryl could have a story next. Maybe Ryan's assistant could be the one for her! Steffan could grow in another book too. Lots of scope here for an exciting series if the author so chooses.

Utterly hilarious, I kept audibly laughing while in public areas of the cruise ship while I was reading, and surprised I didn't get any strange looks.

Some completely fabulous comedic moments, some of which come from Baaabara Streisand, one of the best animals I've read about in a long while.

This was a joy to read, I loved everything from "guess the gadget" to "gnome sex positions" plus the stories behind the carvings on this tree they are trying save are rather special too.

Once again this author has written a fabulous story, full of heart, humour, loveable characters, and two leads who i enjoyed the dynamics of.

Another triumph from Jaimie Admans.

Thank you to Netgalley and HQ Digital for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

Fifteen years ago, Felicity Kerr threw caution to the wind and kissed her colleague Ryan Sullivan under the ancient wishing tree along the coast.
When Ryan failed to respond to her kiss, Felicity was mortified that she’d read his signals so horrendously wrong and left Lemmon Cove for good.
But now Felicity’s job brings her back to her hometown, and face to face with Ryan, who is leading a band of octogenarians rallying to save their beloved 300-year-old sycamore from being bulldozed by property developers.
The spark with Ryan is still there, but Felicity is guarding a secret and as much as she wants to join the protest by his side, she can’t help but hold back.
Will Felicity be able to mend her broken heart and find happiness with Ryan beside the sea?

THIS BOOK MADE ME CRAZY!!! There were so many times that I wanted to just set it aside - because you absolutely KNEW what was going to happen!! There was NO way that she was going the "right" thing before getting busted. Yet, something kept making me pick it up until I finished it. While I was satisfied with the ending, it honestly could have been all tied up in about 1/2 the time. I wanted to ring her neck for being so wishy washy. I loved all of the senior characters and adored the goat lol I'm offering this honest (maybe too honest??) review of The Wishing Tree Beside the Shore by Jamie Adams in exchange for a digital advanced review copy from Netgalley

This is a sweet and clean second chance romance story that is packed with emotion, humor and colorful characters that made it a winner for me. No dull moments in this book. No rambling. Very well-written, very interesting and colorful characters, and a rogue sheep. Just a wonderfully written story that will grab you from start to finish. I really loved this book and highly recommend it.

Honestly, Jaimie can do no wrong with her books - she is an absolute genius and so creative with her story-telling. I absolutely loved the concept of the Wishing Tree and all of the stories that came with it, it was all so beautiful and there's nothing better than a Jaimie Admans romance!

This is a book about a wishing tree do the wishes come true only time will tell.

Fliss left her hometown fifteen years ago, she tried to kiss Ryan and was leaving anyway but ran away from him as she thought she had got things wrong. Due to her work she has to come and persuade the residents of an old people’s home to give up their protest about an sycamore tree when she comes face to face with Ryan. She still has feelings for him.

We see over the course of the book the memories people have of the tree I thought the concept of this book was really good. Will Fliss wish come true or will she end up without Ryan only time will tell.

It is a light hearted book and some of the incidents were funny.

This was an okay read but I found myself skimming. Felicity is sent by her employer back to her hometown in hopes of securing land to build a development. The folks in town are fighting back to save the 300 year old Wishing Tree that would be bulldozed. Her first crush is leading the charge and the 15 years apart hasn't changed her heart. A little predictable but a nice story for a summer beach read. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I really enjoyed Felicity’s story as we have all been there putting ourself out to gain our crushes attention that doesn’t always turn out the way we hoped, I was curious to find out when Felicity moves back how things will turn out for her and Ryan and the secret of why she is holding back .

Loved this story which is only the second one of Jaimie’s that I’ve had the pleasure of reading. Following Fee who had followed her dreams to live in a city having leaving her home town following heartache. Returning only briefly following that day and under the cover of night. Years later she has no choice but to return. Misunderstandings of the past lead to happiness. Love it!

Thank you to Netgalley and Jaime Admans for the advanced review copy of The Wishing Tree Beside The Shore. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the history and stories of saving the tree. Despite being on edge throughout the book waiting for him to find out her real job! Would recommend for an easy and light hearted romance.
