This was such a cute book. My kids and I enjoyed flipping through and finding projects to do. I also liked that we could use things that are easy to find at home.

My children and I had so much fun going through this book together. Lots of crafts were made from toilet paper and paper towel rolls and cardboard boxes. If you have a maker on your hands this is the book for you.

I thought this is a neat collection of craft projects that are environmentally friendly. I would recommend this book to families, as it is easy to set aside some cardboard from recycling to try these projects.

A few different crafts to try out, to get mind going of what could be made. Decent visuals to go with easy to understand instructions.

A great intro book for kids that teaches them about re-using materials with hard examples. The crafts present re-use household cardboard in interesting, fun ways that expand beyond a single use, process art style craft activity.

The phone/tablet stand and wind chimes looked particularly fun for extended use/play.

Create with Cardboard is genius book for parents!!! Easy and simple crafts that will keep your children entertained for hours. Picture instructions make this really simple to follow for your children. I especially loved the bee sanctuary, egg carton wind chimes, and leaf ornaments. This would even be a perfect book for early elementary and pre k teachers to have in their classrooms.

working with young children it is important that there are resources to help them build fun activities or reinforcers. This is a cute fun book that had great and varied ideas.

Great book for teachers. Ideal for late primary school kids, and I love it for EFL/ESL ideas so the kids can have a project related to the current topic.
It's almost all recycled material which is a great way to teach children to think about leftovers, "rubbish" and repursing things.
You will need all of the usual tools such as good scissors, a glue gun etc and help children along the way, they cannot do these activities alone or unattended.

This is a fun book of rainy day craft activities using recycled materials found at home. My particular favourites (and ones Ill try myself with my kids) were the desk organiser, bee sanctuary and whale phone holder.
The instructions, both written and photography, are clear and easy to follow, with all measurements in both imperial and metric scales.
All materials are likely to be found around the home, so the projects are easy and accessible.

Many thanks to Netgalley and Capstone Press for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Create With Cardboard will be released 1 August 2021

I was expecting a bit more from this book. I thought there would be way more cardboard activities to complete. As for the crafts included in the book, I loved them! I think art teachers will enjoy this book.

Thank you NetGalley and Capstone Press for this ARC!

There are some really easy and fun crafts in here that I will definitely be using for kid programs and during storytimes. The pinata monster made out of an old kleenex box is so cute and so is the cardboard cactus!

Create with Cardboard by Heidi E. Thompson is an amazing, fun book. My ten year old son says it is inspiring for so many different other ideas beyond even the ideas in the book. We have been creating a lot of cardboard creations during the pandemic and this book is a fun addition to our creations. Highly creative kids will love this book. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.

Almost a dozen cute projects to make with what might otherwise end up in a landfill.

As a child, I would have snatched this book in a hurry; as a children's librarian and paper crafter, the irresistibly cute cover got my attention and I was not disappointed! Who can resist a googly-eyed toilet paper roll?

In addition to clear, attractive photographic illustrations, the projects in this eco-crafts book range from adorable (such as the cardboard cactus that never dies) to practical (like the ubiquitous but ever-useful desk organizer). Simple household supplies and easy-to-follow instructions make each activity manageable for kids, and the consistent visual layout from one page to the next create a predictable flow to the book.

Thank you to NetGalley for an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. My elementary library students will love it!

Love this collection of crafty ideas. Hours of entertainment to be had and I love that they mostly use items found around the home. The leaf ornaments are amazing for this time of year

This book is so great! I love learning about easy crafts with simple things that I'd have around the house to do with my kids. Especially during the pandemic, we love making crafts at home. I like how this book has fairly simple projects that my 3 year old could do with help, but still has more complex projects that my 7 year old will love. We will definitely be making some of these crafts! I would recommend this book to any parents at home with their kids ::) I received a free copy of this book from netgalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

The projects require some manual dexterity, but are not appealing to the age that has the skill to accomplish these. Everything looks rough and junky. Disappointing, since capstone usually has great titles.

This book is perfect for a rainy day! The projects are fun and unique ways to upcycle paper or cardboard products into modern art and functional pieces! My daughter loves building rocket ships with our shipping boxes so I am looking forward to testing out the planets project this weekend. The photos were well placed and gave excellent support to the written directions and information for each project. In my opinion the projects were extremely accessible to a wide range of age groups but I'd mostly suggest the book for elementary age kids. The only thing I'd like to see in a future version of tis book is to give alternative options for supplies. My daughter attends a title 1 school which often means that the kids may not always have all the same materials so suggesting anything from makers, crayons, pens, stickers, paint might be better than only listing paint for example as a tool required for a project. As a mother, I will often substitute any tool but as a child they often prefer not to be othered and use exactly what is listed on the page. Otherwise this book was extremely lovely and easy to follow.

Rating: 5/5 stars.

“Create with Cardboard” by Heidi E. Thompson and Marcy Morin is a collection of eco-friendly crafts for children. I absolutely loved this book. I tried a bunch of the crafts, and they are super easy to follow, and very well suited for children to try out with the supervision of an adult. There is a good mix between fun and functional activities. The required materials are ones that most people would have naturally around their home, with a focus on upcycling items that otherwise would simply be waste. I really appreciated this environmentally-friendly mindset. My favourite craft was the whale phone holder.

I highly recommend this book for all children and young adults who enjoy making simple yet useful and fun crafts, especially those who are trying to live a more eco-friendly life.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for an opportunity to preview this book. I have not yet tried any of the cardboard crafts in the book but I looked through all of them and noted a few that would definitely work for library programs and take-and-make kits. The book states that most of the materials for the crafts are items that kids will already have and I found that to be the case. From artistic, to functional, to just-for-fun projects, the book presents something for everyone in an accessible and easily understood way. I really appreciated the focus on recycling and environmental awareness as well.
