Knit 2 Socks in 1 is a very well-written instructional book. Talley's premise is that many of us lose interest in knitting socks once we finish one, so she suggests we knit 2 at a time. Talley includes an excellent introduction and detailed explanation of how to select yarns, needles and the appropriate size for your socks. There are many pattern variations included as well so there is something for everyone. The directions for the actual knitting are very clear and she explains each step precisely to they are easy to follow. I am a VERY slow knitter and I didn't want to delay the review while I knit up some booties, but I am confident I can complete both socks at one time following Talley's directions. I am really excited to try the yoga socks too. If you're an experienced knitter of socks, try this technique and check out the many fun variations. If you're a beginner, give it a try - you will be glad you did when your feet are warm and toasty in your handknitted socks!!! Thanks so much to Net Galley for the chance to review an ARC.

Safyyah Talley has produced a fun and inspiring book of knitting information and projects. Knit 2 Socks in 1 is easy to read and understand. Talley has offered beginning knitters lots of basic information guaranteed to insure early knitting success She offers the challenge of a new grouping of techniques and lovely patterns to more seasoned knitters. Talley writes as if she were sitting alongside the reader offering suggestions and options over a knitting project and a cup of tea. The project pictures are delightful. I hope to see Talley’s book in yarn shops. She presents sock knitting as the fun project it was always meant to be.

Knit 2 Socks in 1. What??? Yes please! And could we make it user friendly? Do you know what I mean? Have you tried to find a knitting book that could speak your language? Like super beginner? I’ve been knitting awhile but only simple stuff. So when I found this book I got really excited!
First of all she explains everything one on one. It didn’t feel like a super hard homework assignment I barely understood. The author did a great job explaining……
*yarn fibers.
*dpn and circular needles.
*stitch gauge and blocking.
*lifeline stitches and there uses.
I guess people use to take classes back in the day in knitting, at school? So this felt like a class friendly education. I love that I can just knit the entire socks at once! What a great idea. This book is for the person who wants to knit socks in the simplest terms. Nothing super difficult but you can’t tell from all the beautiful patterns she put in this. 7 patterns to make it any size.
I highly recommend it if you want to learn a new method. Thanks Storey Publishing via Netgalley.

This book offers such a great way to knit socks to avoid the dreaded second sock syndrome. I look forward to trying this method. And I love too the choose you own adventure idea behind picking what socks to make.

I have been knitting for over a decade and only recently attempted sock knitting. Some say it's very hard, but the difficulties often lie in the minutiae - choosing the right yarn weight and type (something sturdy but comfortable, generally thin like fingering or DK), measuring your feet carefully to make the sock fit, working with double pointed needles (a pleasure for me, but awkward initially), avoiding second sock syndrome, and picking the best options for you (best cast on/cast off, best method for knitting a heel, and so on and so forth).
This is a book solely (get it?) dedicated to knitting socks and shares some techniques I hadn't known previously. The book focuses on knitting socks simultaneously so it effectively circumvents the second sock syndrome. There are notes about good ways to knit a heel for people with sensitive heels and it goes through some patterns, but really focuses on technique and flexibility. It could be for beginners, but it has enough information to give something new to someone who has knit for years as well.
I am a BIG fan of knitting books with pictures as well - it just makes things more clear and helps display the patterns cleanly and effectively. A lot of crafting books now have pictures but I have some older ones in my house that rely on illustrations and the difference is enormous.
All of this to say I was very satisfied with this crafting book and I would recommend it to people that are interested in sock knitting.

This is the first time I have seen this method of knitting socks and it seems to be pretty easy. I love the idea of knitting both in a long tube and only having the cuff/toe to finish. This helps a lot in the motivation for completing the project and decreases the likelihood of "one-sock syndrome." I'm so glad I had a chance to try this method and look forward to suggesting it to my fellow knitters.

Knit 2 Socks in 1
Discover the Easy Magic of Turning One Long Sock into a Pair! Choose from 21 Original Designs, in All Sizes
by Safiyyah Talley

I received an e-arc of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I have been knitting for about 15 years but have never found the courage to attempt socks. This looks like the perfect book to start with. There are so many pictures, diagrams, visual labels and thorough explanations. In many knitting books you just get a picture of the finished project and the instructions for the pattern. Here we get a thorough explanation of a variety of elements relevant to the knitting process. For example differences between yarns and what they’re called and what they mean.

This looks like an absolutely fantastic book to set me on a new journey to knit socks. 5/5

Great method for knitting socks! This makes sock knitting the perfect take along project when you don't want to have to pay too much attention, just adding lifelines where heels will go later and to separate for the second sock! I've knit my socks 2 at a time for awhile, but this method doesn't require an extra set of needles or dealing with 2 balls of yarn (or working from the inside and outside of the same ball and trying to prevent tangling. It also keeps self-striping yarns going in the same direction (vs using the inside and outside of the same ball where it reverses). The author also discusses different yarn fibers and weights and how this impacts the wear of socks, as well as offering the reader a general idea of the yardage needed for the various sizes of feet and weights of yarn as an easy reference. There's a nice selection of sock patterns to choose from as well.

Thank you Storey Publishing and NetGalley for the eARC in exchange for my honest review.

This book is based upon a non-standard way to knit socks, 2 at a time. The general technique is similar to when you knit a double thick hat or scarf by knitting a long tube then manipulating that tube. I don't generally like knitting socks mostly because making 2 of the same thing is a pain, but I would definitely try this technique. Talley gives you the recipe on how to make a standard set of socks, from baby to adult sized, and you can choose some different cuffs and decorations. She also includes some patterns you can follow directly. I will definitely try out this technique, and this is from a non-sock knitter :)

I am very excited to try this sock knitting method. The instructions are clear and concise, with good descriptions of basic knitting tools and terminology. There are lots of options for adapting the basic pattern.

Really great comprehensive guide to sock making. The graphics were great and would be really helpful to knitters of all levels. Also all the patterns are really cute so that's helpful.

I've been knitting socks for years and this book is good for both beginners and seasoned sock knitters. Beginners can learn basic principles of sock knitting and experienced knitters can learn a new construction technique. Very clear explanations with great pictures to accompany the informations.

I LOVE this book!!! A revolutionary way to knit 2 socks at a time. This is not a complicated fiddley way, but a very simple technique, that will have the knitter knitting two socks at a time all the time! The book describes the process thoroughly, with wonderful pictures that leave no questions on what she’s talking about. There are enough patterns that go from baby socks, to child, womens and mens, and give you an assortment of different sock patterns. There are charts telling you how many stitches and rows for each sock type, whether you’re knitting a child’s to adult. I have a bookshelf devoted to knitting, mainly technique books. This book will be a prized “ top shelf” book, and one I would mark as a “ must have”. I am amazed at how simple this technique is, and very surprised no one has put a book out on it, before this. I hope to see more from this author….well designed, very descriptive, and as I said…a must have!

As a beginner knitter I found the concept of knitting two socks at once intriguing, but I might have been a little out of my element. The instructions were very well written and clear, but perhaps I should try it normally before jumping into what seemed to me at least an intermediate skillset.

I post my review to Goodreads closer to the publication date and any desired retailers.

This was fun to do but I am not convinced enough to continue. I am a fairly advanced knitter and have never had a problem knitting socks easily and quickly. I found this awkward and it does not appeal to me. Having said that it has been well written with very clear descriptions and pictures.

This was so fun to try! I have knit socks before but had trouble getting the gauge right and having them actually fit. These fit and the pattern was engaging enough to hold my attention until they were both done. Clear instructions and pictures.

Thank you NetGalley for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest opinion.

Aimed at relatively new knitters, this book tackles the issue of "Second Sock Syndrome" by teaching how to knit two socks at once. There are many methods of how to do this, and as the title proclaims, this is indeed the easiest way ever... which means that most experienced knitters will probably already have thought of this method themselves.

That said, as a book aimed at beginners, it works really well. It has all the necessary details you could wish for, and goes into great detail of explaining the anatomy of a sock, how to choose the right needle and yarn, as well as providing lots of photos for all the techniques needed in order to knit a 2-in-1 sock.

A very good, very helpful knitting book. Detailed and has lots of helpful tips that are worth knowing about, the author is very obviously skilled in knitting, giving lots of information on different types of needsles, different weights and types of wool, I really liked that and as someone who has knitted on and off, on needles, with arms and tried a selection of different needles, I REALLY LOVED how there was an explanation and a demonstration of these, I would have loved that if I was just taking knitting up, however, there was NO books like this one in that aspect.

I have knitted socks before, just not on needles, there are lots of tables in this book which I'm sure the average person will find helpful, it didn't aid anything for me, I did like the colours of the wool in a lot of sock demonstrations, I felt that made the knitter feel that the sky is the limit and DEFINITELY made my knitting fingers itch for certain.

I feel that this book is inclusive between advanced knitters and also beginners but it brings all knitters together as one where in other books it can feel that you are picking through for revlance, but not with Safiyyah, she knows her audience and talks to all of it. I admire that!

Many thanks to Netgalley, the publishers and Talley for my free ARC in exchange for my review here.

As a somewhat beginner knitter I have always want to knit a pair of socks. My biggest fear was when I finished the pair one would be longer then the other one. Knit 2 Socks in 1 seemed like the perfect book to keep from having two different length of socks. Since I have never attempted a pair of socks I was somewhat confused . I plan on giving a regular sock pattern a shot first, then come back again when I understand the basics a bit more and give this book another shot.

I think this would be a great pattern book for those who already knit socks and it seems like it would make knitting socks go much faster.

I am excitedly knitting away on a pair of socks so I can give this a try.

Thank you to publishers for my ARC.

Although I am a knitter and have been for many years this style is very new to me and was very fun to try. The patterns and designs are simple enough that a beginner would have no problems following along.

I kind of felt that I was following a Fighting Fantasy style knitting book.... You have an option of various stitch patterns, levels of difficulty, and sizes that range from children's to adults. Must admit I have the book on pre order for my mother in law.
