This book was just an ok read for me! It had a decent storyline, it had light suspense, action, drama. But it didn't pull me in?! It kind of dragged on a bit for me. But I'm sure there will be plenty who will enjoy reading this book! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!

This is an interesting mystery about a woman who has all the hallmarks of success, yet underneath has a hidden life that erupts in the course of this book. Lily Atwood has everything, why does she live her life in terror? What is she afraid of? Why does she want her adored daughter kept hidden?

The author skillfully weaves the backstory into this novel to give the reader a glimpse into the secrets and darkness in Lily’s life. There is simply too much that is inauthentic for me to have become involved in the book.

This book has such good reviews and I was really excited to get an ARC of this book, but I struggled to get through this book and I would have DNF'ed if it wasn't for the purpose of a review.
I've never read anything from this author before so I wasn't sure what to expect. I did like the writing style and the initial plot sounded like something I'd really enjoy but I can't quite put my finger on what I didn't like.
I think this is a very character-driven mystery and whilst I usually love this, I found myself not connecting or rooting for any of the characters in this book. I also thought I would love this book because of the celebrity aspect but it felt overdone and something I had read before.
I also think although the book was set out to build suspense, the reveals didn't shock me and I wasn't blown away as everyone else seems to be.
I also expected more from the ending and I think this downplayed my enjoyment of the book too.
I feel bad rating this two stars because there wasn't anything overly wrong about this book, it just didn't work for me and I expected more than I received.

My favorite Hank Phillipi Ryan book EVER! She really turned up the heat and deception in this one! Beautifully designed story with multiple POVs. Multifaceted yet easy to follow. So many twists, turns and dark undercurrents. I read this book in one day. Highly recommend this one.

WOW. This was one of the first thrillers in 2021 that I’ve read that I absolutely could not put down. Hank Phillipi Ryan is a powerhouse author and storyteller. This book is full of wonderfully messy twists and turns, and kept me guessing the entire time. The characters are relatable, and the reader feels brought into the story by Ryan’s ability to craftfully develop characters who experience emotions that we have all felt (betrayal, confusion, envy, security).
