Money Magic was a fun and savvy look at handling and growing your money from a witchy perspective. It felt like talking to a good friend.

As a long-time practitioner of magic and manifestation, I was excited to dive into Jessie Susannah Karnatz's book "Money Magic." With its bold promises of helping readers unlock the abundance they desire, I was eager to see what kind of wisdom and guidance Karnatz had to offer. Unfortunately, I have to admit that I was a little let down by what I found.

One of the main issues I had with the book is that it felt overly simplistic and repetitive. While there were certainly some useful tips and techniques scattered throughout the book, I found myself getting bored with the same ideas and concepts being presented again and again. Many of the chapters felt like they could have been condensed into a few pages, rather than stretching out to fill entire sections.

Another challenge I had with the book was that much of the advice and guidance felt geared towards those who are already relatively financially stable. While I certainly appreciate the importance of gratitude and abundance mindset in attracting wealth, I was disappointed by the lack of practical advice for those who are struggling to make ends meet. The book seemed to assume that readers had a certain level of financial stability and privilege, rather than acknowledging the structural barriers and inequalities that can make wealth-building difficult for many people.

That being said, there were certainly some nuggets of wisdom in "Money Magic" that I found valuable. Karnatz's emphasis on the importance of self-care and personal empowerment in building financial abundance is certainly an important one, and I appreciated her emphasis on the power of intention and visualization in manifesting our desires. I also enjoyed the sections on working with deities and spirits to attract financial blessings, as well as the practical tips for setting and achieving financial goals.

Overall, I would say that "Money Magic" is worth a read for those who are interested in exploring the intersection of magic and money. While I was personally a little let down by the simplistic and repetitive nature of much of the advice, I still found some valuable insights and inspiration within its pages. And for those who are already financially stable and looking to enhance their abundance mindset, the book may provide even more value. Ultimately, while "Money Magic" may not be the most groundbreaking or revolutionary book on the topic, it is still a useful resource for those looking to explore the magic of money.

There's a lot of information in this book, but I can't say it's new information if you've worked on healing your money mindset. I really wanted to love the book, and while I thought it was okay, I felt it wasn't organized great, and the paragraphs were long and repetitive. When she adds the astrology in it, I'm not sure if I'm supposed to just be focused on my sign, or if there is another reason it's formatted that way. But there's also a lot of great information in this book, including affirmations, journal prompts, and healing exercises. It could be the formatting of the ARC and me reading it on my phone that made it chunky and difficult, but again some repetition. Otherwise, a good book to add to your repertoire of healing your money mindset.

In “Money Magic: Practical Wisdom and Empowering Rituals to Heal Your Finances,” intuitive financial coach Jessie Susannah Karnatz, aka “The Money Witch” presents a detailed seven-step system to assess your financial situation, plan for goals, and overcome obstacles. It’s a workbook combining practical advice and a sprinkling of magical rituals to take control of your money, getting readers from where they are to where they want to be.

Much has to do with healing the emotional blocks surrounding money that prevent success, self-care actions to increase confidence, and meditations to make for a money-manifesting mindset. It’s a holistic approach that addresses techniques that go beyond traditional financial advice.

This is not a quick fix with some crystals and spell work. It’s not a law of attraction book. It requires diving deep into income, wants versus needs, expenses, what success looks like, and a reader’s relationship with each. There are journal prompts, research exercises (such as the clues your astrological midheaven gives about where to focus for financial success), affirmations, and homework dealing with core wounds that can influence or sabotage your financial life.

“I don’t sound like a banker, and I don’t sound like your dad getting mad at you for not taking his advice. I sound more like if finance maven Suze Orman took psychedelic mushrooms,” Karnatz states.

She comes at finances from logistical, spiritual, emotional, energetic, and magical angles — all aimed at healing and creating space to develop a new relationship with money. Each chapter opens with associations — allies, astrological inspiration, crystals, a tiny tarot reading, and a tea — associated with the topic, and concludes with a ritual.

It can be overwhelming, scary, and intimate, but to heal your finances requires healing everything in your life. This book appears to address everything needed to guide readers through the process.

Jessie Susannah Karnatz is a financial couch and the founder of Money Witch, a company that uses practical financial tools and empowering rituals to help clients achieve their financial goals. She is based in San Francisco, California.

The Money Witch takes you on a journey through your psyche to get to the root of your issues with money and gives you the tools to take control. And yeah, with a little bit of the mystical mixed in for good measure.

A completely unique approach to money management. She takes you by the hand and guides you through.

This is less the traditional “invest here” “ allocate here” and more of the self control and self change of taking financial independence. I’m not a believer in the mystic magics but I was curious how they would integrate it with finances. Besides the dream journals, was underwhelmed.

This book was ok. This is the type of book you would have to read in small portions. There was alot of information that I kept in my notes.

The author blends astrology and financial advice. This isn’t a traditional guide. Finances can be overwhelming which can make one not necessarily confident about how to handle money. Karnatz focuses on how financial circumstances can be tied up with peoples’ identity, mental health and even family history. She guides people through a system to cultivating a health relationship with their money. Resources are included such as affirmations and astrology plus more. This is a book of financial relationships with money.

I found this book to be helpful for me and think it could be helpful for others. It is a chance to look at how you feel about your money and learn how to help yourself.

This was a great book! Was it possible to obtain a page-turner about finances? I would've thought "no" until I read Money Magic. This book provides real-world advice for real people. It helped me understand myself and my personal relationship with money. I found the author's writing style to be relatable and it made for an accessible read. This is a fresh and incredible way to think about money and how it relates to us as complex people. Thanks for a great read! I will definitely buy the physical book, I can't wait to have a copy to write in and highlight.

When I started reading this book I immediately asked myself: "Why?? Why have I never thought about money magic this way before??!!" This book is not a should you read it; it's a why haven't you read it yet. This will change your way of thinking about money and the fear and shame that comes along with it from not having any money, failures in the process of trying to get some and so much more.

Thank you to NetGalley and Chronicle Books for an e-ARC of this title in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own. I really enjoyed this book, and I felt that I learned a lot from it. It's not a difficult read, and we all need to understand our finances before we can manage them.

Money Magic by Jessie Susannah Karnatz (aka The Money Witch) is the ultimate book for witches of any level. It is a perfect read for novice and advanced practitioners of the craft; I think everyone could learn something from this book! It would be a great gift paired with a deck of tarot cards, a cute teacup and some tea, or a pouch of healing crystals. I love books about the occult and witchcraft so I was very interested in this one. Thank you to NetGalley for giving me a free digital Advanced Reading Copy (ARC e-book) of this title. I really enjoyed it!

A decent reference for anyone looking for new options in their craftwork. I felt there wasn't much here to be gained that isn't already provided elsewhere (or couldn't be intuited by someone). However, the illustrations keep the content engaging, and it is nice to have everything laid out in a reference-friendly way.

[Review of uncorrected page proofs from NetGalley]
If books about personal finance always leave you feeling ashamed of yourself for not having more savings, a stock portfolio to rival Jeff Bezos, and a couple million in cash and gold bullion in a floor safe, this one's for you! From the very beginning, the author addresses those feelings of shame and keeps on going with the need to accept responsibility for your situation without accepting your past as your fate. The most difficult tasks she asks of her readers isn't the financial planning and analysis, it's the journaling and self-awareness. This was the prettiest, most positive personal finance book I've ever read. Suze Orman makes me want to drive off a cliff. Jean Chatzky makes me feel like I might be able to retire one day if I stop buying handbags & shopping at Publix. But Karnatz presents a method that speaks to my journaling-my-way-through-life, crystal-loving soul.
Librarian's Note: while some readers will be put off by the whole air of witchiness, you don't have to have a cauldron on the front lawn to apply The Money Witch's principles. She does recommend teas and crystals and tarot but, seriously, are money markets any more sound?

You definitely need to be into new age/magical types of rituals and practices to really get into this book, so it may not be for everyone. However, this book is not just about spiritual practices, but offers tons of practical advice for better money management as well. I have read money management books that have always felt a bit lacking and I feel that this spiritual element is what really makes this book feel more complete for me.

The author lays out a wonderful program for not only taking control of your financial life, but also shines a powerful light on how your emotions impact your attitudes about money. Attitudes and unresolved “trauma” around money are typically the root cause of how so many of us may, initially, lose our way.

I enjoyed this book and thought it incredibly helpful and I especially enjoyed the exercises the author included. As a practicing psychic and witch, I felt completely at home with her teachings and appreciated having her as a guide.

This book is grounded in practical advice as well as coming with a kind heart. A really important concept she talks about here is “financial gaslighting” which is all too real. Many of the concepts she shares mirror much of my own thinking, as well, which made me feel even more comfortable with the ideas she presents.

I think others will enjoy this book, as I did.
