This was a decent read but I found myself annoyed with Allison often, and she put so much pressure on herself that it stressed me out. I didn't like that this was enemies to lovers but they didn't even start to be nice to each other until 60% in. This kind of put a damper on it for me, considering how long the book is. I wasn't really invested and didn't connect with any of the characters, but I did like Allisons sister. Too bad Allison was kind of mean to her throughout the story. Thank you to NetGalley and the authors for a complimentary copy of the audiobook in exchange for my honest opinion. I will check some other books out by the authors, maybe they'll sit better with me!

I am not going to lie, in the beginning of the book I wasn't expecting to like the book as much as I did towards the end. Its almost like the main characters when from insufferable to then a little annoying but understandable to then I found myself rooting for them. Enemies to loves is by far one of my favorite tropes ... so the fact that I loved this one so much took me a bit by surprise. I think that this was just so fun. I adored the relationship they had towards the end with each other and themselves. I also appreciated the take on the sort of type A perfectionist students (coming from a type A perfectionist student haha) Overall, I just found that I really enjoyed this book and I appreciate the fact that you allowed me the chance to read this. It was the perfect easy, entertaining, listen.

I think this might be my new favorite Wibbroka book!

I loved all of the banter between Alison and Ethan. I did think they were too intense and absolutely nuts at times. Even amidst all of the craziness, I still liked their chemistry. The amount of sexual tension these two had was obvious to everyone but them.

My main problems with this story were Alison’s best friend and the pacing of the story.

Alison’s friend Dylan was terrible, and I hated the toxic relationship she was in. She also was pretty terrible to Ethan.

I also felt that this book was longer than it needed to be.

Overall, I enjoyed this book and would probably read it again.

Super fun, flirty, snarky first love kinda story! Sometimes competition is the spark that a couple needs to realize how awesome the other person truly is and how much fun you have with the back and forth, this is a perfect example of just that! As an ex-nerdy high school girl that loves HEA, this was a great read especially during my vacay to the beach!! The dialogue was amazing, the characters were well developed, and I felt like I was back in high school with the world-building! Great read!!

honestly, i really like enemies to lovers, and it probably is one of my favorite tropes. so, this book was honestly so disappointing. and i think the authors really tried so hard with the enemies part, but didn't actually do too well on the whole lovers part. like, i feel like they hated each other to much, and they didn't really actually love each other. like, for one, they both had zero chemistry and even when they got together they both still really hated each other and just bickered so much throughout this book.

and i also feel like this books romance was also kind of a toxic romance. like, all they did was just fight and bicker and i mean, i do feel like a lot of the books romance was just pure lust and i just didn't work out at all. and i think it was also very toxic because there was the whole rivalry, and there was so many insults in this book and also they were just so cruel and mean to each other. i couldn't get behind this book.

but, allison is just so rude, obnoxious and entitled character. like, she was just so rude to everyone and mainly her family and younger sister for literally no reason, besides the fact that they were siblings. and she treated everyone that she meet like literal trash and she was just such a bitch. and yeah, the plot is all about her being competitive. but, she was still a bitch to all of these people. and also, i feel like they tried to make us feel bad for her and to see that she isn't so privilaged by giving her shitty driving. like, i think it was like five chapters about how she could not drive and to see her try to pass this test. and i also feel like they would explain everything about her like fifteen times, like about how high school works in america and like how to drive a car and all this other stuff that is kind of basic knowledge.

What’s Not to Love is an enemies-to-lovers story that takes between two high school academic rivals. I’m a sucker for pretty much anything enemies to lovers and throw in academics and I’m sold. I recently read one of the author duo’s previous works and I really enjoyed it so I thought that I would like this one as well, and I did!

Alison and Ethan are constantly competing for anything and everything, who can hand in a test first, who can get the higher grade, you name it, they’re competing for it. They’re both planning on attending Harvard after high school and are competing to be valedictorians for their class. The two end up being paired to put on the school’s alumni reunion, which forces them to compromise and spend more time with one another than they ever intended.

I loved the buildup and the angst between these two. Seeing them go from competing to being frustrated that they were feeling this way for the other. We are experiencing the entire story from Alison’s POV, which was really nice to read. Usually, we have one of the characters pining for the other, which I love to read about, but that wasn’t the case here and I’m glad that it wasn’t. I think it would have ruined the story. Though I did find their academic competition to be a bit obsessive and unhealthy, I did really enjoy the rivals aspect and watching us see Alison fall in love with Ethan. I do wish that we were able to see Ethan’s POV as well, I would have loved it. Overall, I enjoyed it, loved the characters, and it’s a great summer/spring read!

A huge thank you to Net Galley and the Publisher for providing me a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this book! I’m not always an enemies to lovers fan, but this was a great one. I got through it very fast and enjoyed almost all of it.

I like how I saw myself in the main character, Alison. I am very competitive and take a lot of hard classes, but I’m definitely not as intense as her. It helped me relate to what was happening and made me enjoy the book so much more. I also liked how there were other side stories with her sister and her best friend. It helped balance everything out.

The only thing I did not enjoy about this book was just the fact that both characters toed the line on insults and revenge. It made me think that they weren’t good for each other or just made me dislike the character at that time.

I definitely recommend this book to young adult and contemporary lovers. If you like enemies to lovers than this is for you.

This was a short and sweet story. I really enjoyed it! It was a very good audio book too. I would listen to these narrators again.

I have read all of Emily and Austin's books and will pick up all their Shakespeare retellings. However What's Not to Love has been my least favorite so far. I was considered the top student in high school and sometimes the honor for valedictorian can become very cut throat, but I didn't want in on that so I graduated early giving up my possibility of being valedictorian while being the number one class rank. Something that really bothered me in with this book was how the teachers and administration were portrayed, because being a pre-service teacher it really aggravated me because not all teachers are that way and just because you have one bad teacher doesn't mean the rest of us are. I did like that the audiobook had two different narrators for the two main characters.

This is the kind of book I usually love, but it didn't work for me. I never cared about Allison or Ethan, and their relationship was more toxic than romantic. I didn't buy their evolution from enemy to lover that felt rushed. Plus, the narrative voice felt more like an SAT prep course than a real teen narrator. I know some people will enjoy this book, but I am not one of them.

I LOVED What’s Not to Love! This book was a day read for me and will stick with me for a long time. The high school academia rivalry, character growth and everything was perfect! This is my new favorite by the phenomenal writing duo

After not really enjoying Time of Our Lives by this duo, I was a bit hesitant going into this one. But it was such a pleasant surprise! Allison was a great character and was extremely competitive and driven. I love this about her, and it was great to read from her perspective. I also really enjoy the enemies to lovers trope, especially if it is well done, which I thought it was in this book. Allison’s and Ethan’s feud was so great and I cannot wait to read more from this author duo!

What’s not to love? This book, for me…

I thought going into this I would get another cute Today Tonight Tomorrow style YA. I write all the time about how much I love enemies to lovers, but this just felt like enemies to mediocre, flat romance.

The premise of this book is how high school rivals Allison and Elliot spend their last couple of months in their senior year. They compete over every single thing in school: AP classes, Valedictorian, the newspaper, clubs, Driver’s Ed, etc. When they’re unwillingly paired together to plan the school’s high school reunion, their tension hits a new level.

I think my biggest problem with this book is the characters. The story is told through Allison’s perspective, and man, she’s so unlikeable. Her entire personality is based on being “mature” and the “best” but everything she did in the story showed how truly immature she is. She’s entirely focused on herself and is rude to people who truly do not deserve it—namely, her sister and best friend. Even by the end of the story, I didn’t see any true character development.

I wish this story included Elliot’s POV because I think he would have been more bearable. After 300+ pages, I feel like I still don’t know really know anything about him. Instead, I had to read page after page of Allison saying the same things about her hatred of Elliot. It didn’t go anywhere.

Looking at reviews, it looks like this is an ✨unpopular opinion✨ so check it out for yourself and let me know what you think!

What’s Not To Love
By - Emily Wibberly and Austin Seigemund-Broka
Narrator - Elizabeth Cottle
Genre - YA/Romance
Book Rating - 4 out of 5 Stars
Narration - 5 out of 5 stars

Let me just say right out that is is a book I would only recommend for girls or boys that are just starting to date or show interest in romance books. This book is definitely aimed at a much younger audience than I am used too.

This is a coming of age story about Alison and Ethan. They are both seniors and compete in everything from grades to getting into a specific college. They are at each other’s throats through most of the book.

Then the sparks between them start to fly. They find out that they are really secretly attracted to each other. There are a few twists and turns and the ending is pretty predictable.

I am sure a younger audience would love this book and although this is not the typical book I would read or listen to it was quite good. So if you have girls or boys that would like a good clean romance this would be the book for them.

Alison and Ethan, the main characters in, What's Not to Love, are constantly fighting for the top spots in their high school class. From trying to beat each other daily in their grades to who will be valedictorian to who will be accepted into Harvard- our main characters are constantly competing. Their rivalry was a bit immature and I found Alison slightly unbearable at times. However, this book had a lot of banter, enemies turning into lovers, themes related to coming of age and people trying to figure themselves out, and I loved it!

This is an enemies to lovers romance. Allison and Ethan have been rivals officially since sophomore year of High school. The teachers and students hate having the two of them in class because they challenge each other on every assignment and exam, and try to out do each other during teacher instructions. They are in every single AP class and extracurricular activity and only have breaks from each other when they go home.
It was the side characters, Allisons best friend Dylan that made this book interesting for me. I struggled with Allison and Ethan becoming a couple, when they were fighting 75% of the book.

If you like the Shakespeare reimagining of high school students, then this author duo is for you.

I have enjoyed some of this author duos books in the past, but sadly, I had a hard time finding anything I liked about this book. I thought the two main characters took hate to love to a new level of being downright nasty to each other for the first 2/3 of this book (plus all the years of high school they had been fighting before the plot started). The first moment where their relationship took a turn came out of nowhere and didn't feel romantic to me at all. I had a hard time being in the mind of the narrator, Alison, because in addition to her having this feud with Ethan, she also was mean to her sister and judging her best friend for most of the book. So it just made her seem like a mean person in general instead of having this special attraction-inducing animosity with a specific person.

Like I said, I have really liked some of their other books, like If I'm Being Honest, but this one was a complete flop for me.

What's Not to Love is an enemies-to-lovers YA romcom. It is about two overachieving high school students, Alison and Ethan. When an alumni drops the ball on planning his class reunion, the principal puts Alison and Ethan in charge, forcing them to work together. Their rivalry at times was a little annoying and over the top. It seemed a little repetitive and a chunk of the middle could have been cut out, but over all it was a cute story that will appeal to the YA audience.

I liked that they were truly rivals before realizing the energy they put into hating each other also sparked an attraction to each other. I also liked how they were able to resolve their issues and take a mature approach to life after HS. I listened to the audio version and enjoyed the narrator. #NetGalley

I received a reviewer audio review copy of What’s Not To Love by Emily Wibberley and Austin Siegemund-Broka the publisher Dreamscape Media from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

CW: Really just some nasty fighting. Like, some elements of the competition are extreme. Teenager who thinks they know best.

What It’s About: Allison Sanger and Ethan Molloy have been bitter high school rivals who have made being the best a brutal competition. For instance, if you are sick and cannot take a test you forfeit and owe the other a favor. Both Allison and Ethan are desperate to get into Harvard and therefore take all the same classes and extra curricular activities. Their rivalry is so toxic, it has made their classmates and teachers dislike them. Still, it goes on, till there is a clear winner.

What I Loved: Okay, it is a testament to how much I love the authors and how good they are that I have anything to love. The authors are brilliant at weaving a story, they turned around a story that was driving me crazy (ie: annoyed) and made me by the end say, “Aww” Seriously, this team is a must read, they nail high school and their writing works. This book with unlikable characters still made me feel butterflies when it was over, and that is seriously a feat.

What I Didn't Like So Much: Okay, this is an enemies to lover book and I know that is the trope and so a bit of my dislike can be wrapped up in that, but still this book is borderline toxic. We have two students who are desperate to top each other academically, as a nerd who was in advanced classes in high school, I recognized the game and so I thought this could be fun. Allison and Ethan’s competition is not fun, it is coming to school ill so you don’t lose, it is destroying people’s dreams, and hurting people’s future. It rubbed me the wrong way, truly there are parts in here that really seemed to be unforgivable to me. I disliked both of our leads so much that I found myself thinking why should you be together? I don’t know, I feel so weird because all these things are true but also I liked the book and how it wrapped up.

Who Should Read This: People who want to read a friends to lover book centered on ambition and academic success.

Quick Summary: An enemies to lovers romance where highest grade takes all!
