All Bets Are Off...
The second in a new series of mysteries from Frances Evesham (author of the Exham-On-Sea mystery series). Imogen Bishop has made a return to the seemingly sleepy Somerset village of Lower Hembrow following the death of her father. Murder, however, was most definitely not on her agenda. She soon partners with local hostelry owner, retired Police Officer Adam Hennessey, to make an unlikely but effective amateur sleuthing duo. This time all action is on the horses and all bets are off when a body is discovered and the sleuths delve into the world of racing, rivals and general murkiness. Will they uncover a killer in time to prevent more dirty dealings? Engaging from the off with a good pace, likeable protagonists, a colourful cast of supporting characters and an enjoyable, entertaining plot making for a relaxing read and providing some much needed escapism.

When I got A Racing Murder by Frances Evesham, I saw that it was the second book in the series and found out that the first was available on Kindle Unlimited and got it. I read it in order and found that I have a new favorite author! Thank you NetGalley for the advance reader copy in exchange for an honest review. Imogen Bishop runs the Streamside Hotel and Adam Hennessy owns the Plough Inn, a pub, and is a retired DCI. There is a race coming this weekend and Streamside Hotel is full. One of the jockeys is murdered at the race track. This is a fantastic story. Having grown up with horses I had the pleasure to clean the stalls, ride daily races and jump in the shows. Ms. Frances Evesham is a great writer. I didn't know what would happen next. I know I want to read more of her books though!

Miss Marple meets Midsomer murders with a bit of Dick Francis thrown in! Not a criticism, I found it an enjoyable read. Interesting well-rounded characters and clues found by gossiping in the village shop. The addition of Harley, a canine character and a couple of donkeys adds to the enjoyment. I am hoping to read the previous novel in this series and any further ones.

A day at the races. Such fun. But not for all, when what should've been a maiden victory results in a Stewards' Enquiry, and a dead body....

With the police thinking it was an accident, the prime suspect's mother wants Adam Hennessy and Imogen Bishop to clear her daughter's name

A brilliant second instalment in the Ham Hill Mysteries
