I could best describe the The Burning Girls as a highly addictive, page turner that will have you guessing the ENTIRE way. I tend to shy away from "detective like" story lines . However, I wanted to try something new and out of my element and decided to try a novel by someone I have never read before.

I was not disappointed.

Detective Ellie has been dealing with her own inner struggles but when the latest Appalachian wild fire uncovers woman’s body she jumps right in to hunt a killer. Detective Ellie is a bit baffled and doesnt know what to think until similar circumstances provides a second body of local teenager Katie Lee Curtis. Now, she realizes, she has a serial killer on her hands.

The Burning Girls is told from various points of view. I thought the writing style was smooth, well written, and thoroughly enjoyable. I am very happy that I tried something new and enjoyed it tremendously. I will now look forward to reading more novels by Rita Herron.

I have zero hesitation to recommend both this book and author, Rita Herron.

Oh my, I just love this series. The author has the talent to invent the most creepy and crazy killers and she always leaves me on the edge of my seat. If you have read the books in this series, you will know what I mean. If you don't, well, you are really missing out on something terribly good in my opinion.

Detective Ellie Reeves has her work cut out for her once again. It seems like the murderers love 'working' in this little village. You wonder why though. With Ellie and her team they never stand a chance. No matter how smart they are, jail is the place where they will end up in.

Everybody is responsible for their own deeds, but are they? Are they as guilty then or are they a victim too?
Time is slipping away, like sand through the hourglass. Ellie is left with a burning desire to put a stop to all the violence and to bring peace to the village once again.
I loved, loved this book and can't wait to read the next one. 5 big stars.

Thank you, Rita Herron and Bookouture

This author writes the kind of books that are creepy and suspenseful. You will be looking over your shoulder to see if there is someone watching you.

Some nights, when the moon was full, she thought she saw a lone man standing at the edge of the forest looking up at her house. Sometimes she thought he was a spirit.

This series is slowly revealing Ellie’s past along with a crazy whacked out serial killer. You just can’t put them down.

First off I want to say a huge thank you to the publisher Bookouture , the author Rita Herron , and to NetGalley for inviting me to join the blog tour for this book as well as letting me read and review it. Wow this one was non stop action right from the very start and the flow of the story had me hooked ,so much so that every time I wanted o put it down I could, loved the inter action between the characters and how twisted the killer's character was , and how the author kept adding twist and turns to the story line as well, another thing I loved was the excitement, and tension of the story at the same time I admiring the author’s skill in pulling all the disparate threads together so much so that I can't wait to read more of her work or even re read the series all together. As for the characters themselves I would have to say that Ellie is my favorite one , because of how strong she seemed even when she was finding out things about her family as well as her past. Plus when ever I now hear the sound of a clock its going to remind me always of this story but to find out how that plays into it , you have to pick this up and read it for yourself.

I enjoyed this book more and more as I read. It is the third book in the detective Ellie Reeves series, but you do not have to read the books in order. The story is told from multiple points of view. At first, the number of characters and points of view were overwhelming and a bit confusing, but as you read you got hooked in to the story as more and more twists hit and you figure out each characters’ role in the story. I recommend this book to anyone looking for a classic murder mystery. I will definitely be going back and reading the first two books in the series now.

Third book in the Detective Ellie Reeves series. This book takes place shortly after the first 2 and Ellie is on the hunt for another serial killer - again with possible ties to her past and family. Another solid easy read - maybe poor Ellie will be able to move forward. Hopefully there will be another in this series.

Book 3 in the Detective Ellie Reeves series and what a great story. Very descriptive, full of twists and turns and heart-stopping moments this was an exciting read.

Briefly, Ellie is investigating the murder of local women and it is clear that there is a serial killer in Crooked Creek. With wildfires breaking out all over the mountains resources are spread thinly but Ellie is determined to find the killer. However, still is still reeling from the most recent case in which she was abducted and the discovery that she was adopted as a baby. Why are all the victims found burned inside a stone circle? Is there a connection to Ellie and her adoption? Can she prevent another murder?

This is a well written story with a well thought out storyline and I can honestly say I had no idea about the killer or the reason behind the killing spree. I have read the previous books and that did help with the references to previous events but I feel that this could happily be read as a stand-alone. Recommended and I will definitely be in the lookout for book 4 in the series. 5* read.

Ellie Reeves must be beyond exhausted. The poor woman has been hunting serial killers non stop for months on end. However, she can’t slow down, because readers like me are super hungry for more of this fantastic series. Each one just gets explosively better. The crimes in this one are truly insidious and hair raising. Herron reveal some important secrets in Ellie’s past. There is a huge revelation in the book. Both Derrick and Cord are back, assisting Ellie. Will either one get closer to her? I’ll let the readers discover that for themselves. I was blown away by the action, plot intricacies. I cannot read enough of this series as I enjoy Trying to figure out who the culprit is in each new book. I get shivers reading about the depravity and heinous plots Herron keeps me fascinated with.

A thriller packed with shocking twists and revelations. Another serial killer has come to Crooked Creek who is killing women and burning them in a ritualistic circle of stones. Detective Ellie Reeves tries to find a connection, but she has no idea that its all tied to the past including her own.

In the aftermath of the wildfires that tore through Crooked Creek, Detective Ellie Reeves is called to a crime scene where a woman has been found, dead, inside a circle of stones. A casualty of the fires, or something more sinister? That question is answered when another body is found. Ellie is able to I.D. the girl through a necklace and with the help of a diary found under the dead girl’s mattress, begins to find some clues about the serial killer threatening her small town. What makes this story a standout, is the main character, a conflicted heroine with her own demons to face

I would like to thank Netgalley and Bookouture for an advance copy of The Burning Girls, the third novel to feature Detective Ellie Reeves of the Crooked Creek, Georgia PD.

Wild fires are breaking out in the Appalachians, but the latest one uncovers a woman’s body surrounded by a stone circle. Ellie doesn’t know what to think, but none of it is good and this is confirmed when a second body is found in similar circumstances. This one wasn’t so burned and is quickly identified as local teenager Katie Lee Curtis. Ellie has recently discovered that she was adopted and is trying to cope with this while hunting a serial killer.

I thoroughly enjoyed The Burning Girls, which is a high octane, engrossing read. It is told from various points of view, mostly Ellie but switches to a host of characters in short bursts. Normally I find this approach knocks my concentration off, but in this novel it is intriguing, because it offers so many potential leads and sets the mind racing down different tracks. I must admit that I had one character in mind from the moment he was introduced, but why I thought that I can’t say, maybe the dreaded gut instinct, although any potential motive eluded me until it was gradually uncovered over the course of the novel. Despite this niggling feeling I got totally immersed in the story and read it in one sitting.

This is the kind of novel that I read for entertainment value and it succeeded admirably at that. I didn’t find the plot or the solution particularly credible, but rather than questioning it I simply went with the flow and enjoyed the excitement, twists and tension while admiring the author’s skill in pulling all the disparate threads together into a cohesive whole.

The Burning Girls is good read that I have no hesitation in recommending.

Ellie is called to a river where a body has been found. She spots a lone woman’s shoe caught in a nearby tangle of vines, and a pearl necklace scattered by the water’s edge. The remains are surrounded by a circle of stones, which Ellie is certain means something. Was the victim––whoever she was––caught in the fire or is something more sinister at play?
I love The Ellie series! And Rita has became an all time favorite author of mine!
this was such a mystery read!

Girls bodies are being found, dead, burned and surrounded by a circle of stones. There is a serial killer in the area but what is his motive and are his victims random or connected in some way. I couldn’t put this one down. Action starts from the first page and doesn’t stop. A can’t miss book if you are into suspense. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.
