A little too on point to read about a pandemic during a pandemic but a new Bujold is always cause for celebration, especially when it continues the story of Penric. In this volume you really start to see Penric as a confident leader, making plans both for the crisis at hand and for improving society's lot (and the lot of sorcerers and demons) for decades down the road. I'm very happy that Bujold continues to write and that she's found a very interesting story about maturity, service, and friendship to tell.
