This was a house favorite when we read it the other night! Such a fun and wonder read to teach child a great lesson! Plus it was just so cute! The kids giggle throughout and loved following along with the littlest yak! A great book for elementary age kids! I can definitely see this one being read in school.

Gertie is a little yak. She longs to grow up and be as big and strong as the adult yaks in her herd. She tries her hardest to grow big. But when a crisis occurs, Gertie learns to appreciate the abilities she has now.
This wonderful children’s story about having confidence in yourself and loving each stage of your life is told in rhyme. The accompanying illustrations are very colorful and eye catching! Young children would enjoy the story of this adorable little yak!
Thank you to NetGalley, Peachtree Publishing Company, author Lu Fraser and illustrator Kate Hindley for giving me the opportunity to read the ARC of this enjoyable children’s book.

Such a wonderful picture book! The illustrations were beautiful and the story was great. I love that Gertie was able to do big things even when she was small.

A delightfully heartwarming and inspiring children's story about a talented and generous yak who nonetheless wishes to be and do more, and undertakes to educate and improve herself.

Gertie is a little yak with a big heart. Eager to be big and tall like the other yaks in her herd, Gertie tries her hardest to make herself bigger and stronger but finds her negative self-perception tested when an emergency calls for someone smaller like her.
In the end, Gertie learns that it’s not the size of your horns that matter but the strength of your character, and that everyone in the herd has something amazing to offer regardless of their size or ability. Reminiscent of the story of Rudolph with his blinking red nose or Kyo Maclear’s picture book Spork, The Littlest Yak shows readers of all ages that sometimes the things we don’t like about ourselves end up becoming our greatest assets. Five stars and two thumbs way up for Gertie, who now holds a coveted spot as one of my favorite heroines in all of children’s literature.

This is a very well illustrated book that would attract the eyes of any little kiddo! I found the message very sweet.

Yes! Everything I want in a children's book. It has adorable illustrations. The story is sweet and powerful. If I had a child I would 100% buy this book.

The littlest yak in a herd of yaks worries about being too small-- it would be much better to grow up fast! But when an even teenier yak is stuck at the tip top of a steep peak, it's up to the littlest yak to come to the rescue as the only one who can fit. Great message about not growing up too fast and how being small can be a strength. And the illustrations were absolutely adorable!

I received this book for free for an honest review from netgalley #netgalley
I'm sure this book is great but I couldn't read it at all because the file that netgalley sent me was corrupted.

A lovingly written and illustrated children’s book. The message is clear and important and, most importantly, it is fun and satisfying to read out loud. This would be a standout addition to any child’s bookshelf.

Aww, such a sweet little book! Fun illustrations and a wonderful message about the beauty of loving who you are.

This book is about a little yak who wants to grow up and get big. He tries lots of things to do so, but it doesn't work. A situation arises, though, that only he as a little yak with his skills can resolve. He learns that it's perfectly fine to be small and be himself, and not to rush growing up. What a sweet message to send to our littles! The art is also super cute. I would definitely buy this for my baby.

Cute rhyming picture book that would be well suited to reading aloud (some of the vocabulary seems a bit beyond the age of reader who would most be interested in the story itself). The illustrations are particularly adorable. It would make a particularly excellent story for television shows like Reading Rainbow or CBeebies' Bedtime Stories series

This picture book follows a tiny yak named Gertie who wishes she was grown up. Gertie sees by the end of the story that little yaks also have an important role and that she shouldn't rush to grow up. I read this book to my four year old and she loved the gorgeous illustrations. The colors chosen for the book are so dynamic. The storyline was adorable and easy to read. It has such a sweet plot that resonates with me as a parent. It will be a book that my daughter reaches for again and again.
This Net Galley ARC was given to me in exchange for an honest review.

So many kids want to grow up too fast. And parents just want them to stay small. Gertie is just such a kid, or a yak. They are the smallest of small and want to be big. That is until they find out that sometimes being small is just perfect, especially when you can do tall things. This book was lovely. The cadence was spot on. It was so good it was a bit tongue twisty. Kids are going to love it and it is perfect for storytime.

The Littlest Yak was completely adorable! I just wanted to adopt Gertie and can't wait to read this amazing picture book to the kids at school. The rhythm and rhyme were superlative and brought to life by fantastic illustrations. The message was so relatable. kids are just going to fall in love with this book.

Oh, I love Gertie! This is a very sweet story about a little Yak who is tired of being little! Of course Mummy tells her that she is perfect and important just the way she is but Gertie is not so sure. She decides to do everything she can to grow up big and strong and quickly. (I love that Gertie includes reading in her growing up plan!) Not unexpectedly Gertie learns that being small has it's advantages that she shouldn't rush growing up. Great illustrations and fun, well-flowing rhyming text make this a engaging read.

The Littlest Yak is a wonderful book about tiny Gertie who wishes to be big! The illustrations and story are so engrossing. I loved the rhyming scheme and text, which makes it a really fun read-aloud book. Gertie finally realizes that being small can have its own advantages. This would be great for a child that wishes they were big or feels different in some way.
Thank you Peachtree Publishing and NetGalley for providing this ARC.

The Littlest Yak is the cute story of Gertie who wishes to be bigger. It is easy to follow story with a lesson about small ones being able to do big things and accepting yourself. Told in rhyming verse and colorfully illustrated I could easily see myself reading this book to my younger students. Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC ebook in exchange for an honest review.

This book, The Littlest Yak, was absolutely adorable! It had beautiful themes of self-acceptance, helping others, celebrating differences, and enjoying the 'now.' This is about the littlest yak in the group that wants to be big, wants to grow, and wants to do everything that small yaks can't. Finally, there is a task that requires a teeny yak and the littlest yak saves the day! I love the ending because the creature being saved wants to be able to do something that the littlest yak can do, so this affirms that everyone has different talents and they can be put to good use. I can definitely see using this book as a mentor text to teach about identifying one's talents and strengths and how to put them to good use for the class community. Thank you, NetGalley, for this book!
