The Littlest Yak is an adorable story about a little Yak who wants to be big. She eats her vegetables, reads books, and exercises as much as possible but still remains small. Finally a job comes around that only a small yak can do and she learns that there are benefits to being big and there are also benefits to being small. My daughter adored this book because she is often trying to keep up with her big brother and gets frustrated when he is able to do things that she can't do yet. But she has learned that there are also things she can do that he can't.

Love this message about being 'perfectly me.' This might make for a special read aloud for older kiddos as some kids are sprouting up and others aren't yet.

Stop what you are doing and get this book now. This is an adorable story about embracing the skin we are in because we are made this way for a reason. The rhyming was a delight, the illustrations are beautiful, and the message is one we all need to hear.

What an adorable book! The illustrations are gorgeous, and the rhyming structure was a pleasant surprise. It has a great message of self-acceptance and diversity for children. It teaches that everyone is unique and special just the way they are. This is the kind of book that makes me love picture books and want to read more of them!
I was provided with an eARC of this book by Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

thanks to Peachtree Publishing + NetGalley for the e-advance publicity review copy of THE LITTLEST YAK by Lu Fraser, illustrated by Kate Hindley; expected publication date October 5, 2021.
From the adorable illustrations, to the fun Yak characters, and the sweet story with the reminder of being small is just as important as being older, I know this is one you're going to want to read again and again with your kiddos. - especially since we did multiple times in a row already.

Thank you to NetGalley and Peachtree Publishing for providing this reviewer's copy!
This is an amazing little picture book about a small yak who does her best to grow up only to realize that GREATNESS comes in all sizes!
It's a wonderful, heartwarming read bought to life by the gorgeous illustrations.
The rhyming will appeal to countless young readers. It will make them laugh as well as care and root for the littlest yak from the first page!

What a beautiful, wonderfully illustrated children’s book! A wonderful moral - just because you’re little doesn’t mean you can’t do big things! This book gets big thumbs up from me and my six year old!

I'm on the fence about this one. I had high hopes and the artwork is beautiful but the story fell a little flat. It feels the story line of "I want to be big and then I realize that even tho I'm small I can do great things" has been told over and over again and this story didn't add anything new.

The illustrations and the story are beautiful. Very engaging and enjoyable to read! My daughter will definitely smile while reading this book together.

One little yak who learns that bigness comes in all kinds of sizes.
I loved this book. As a parent who does a lot of read-aloud this was so much fun to read. It followed wonderfully and had such a playful tempo. I also loved the story of the struggles of wanting to grow up faster than you are.
My 8 year old and 4 year old give this book a 4/5. I would have to disagree and give it a 5/5.

Gertie is the littelest Yak of all, and she wants to be big like the rest of them. She makes a plan to grow big and goes about executing it. Until one day when a tiny yak is in trouble on the cliff, and the big yaks are too big to go help. Gertie uses her skills as a little yak to rescue the yak that is in trouble. Gertie learns that she can still do big things even though she is small.
The rhythm and rhyme of this story is delightful. I love a good rhyming book, but especially one that teaches little ones that they can do big things even when they are still growing. This book is such a delight. I loved it.

It's hard being little, especially when everyone is so much bigger than you. In Lu Fraser's adorable new book The Littlest Yak, little Gertie struggles with being the smallest member of her herd. Despite her mother's assurance that she will grow bigger over time, Gertie is determined to make it happen as soon as possible. What follows is a sweet, colorful tale of finding your strength despite your size. The Littlest Yak is a lovely picture book sure to delight readers young and old,

The rhyming and style of this book is fantastic! I read this book with my kids and they thought it was a Dr. Seuss book. That is a testament to how great the words flowed in this story.
Such a great message that even if you are little, you can do big things. This is a good book to read to younger kids that are learning to "be big" and do things themselves.
The text and illustrations are wonderful in this book! This is a book to keep on the shelf and enjoy reading to kids over and over!
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for proving me a digital copy for my honest review.

Five stars, a victory for little yaks everywhere! Great illustrations, neat wordplay, and an important message.

I loved this book! I have read so many books where the authors wrote in rhymes with no sense of rhythm, so it was a wonderful surprise to come across this book. You don't have to force the words to fit the rhythm and the rhymes aren't the usual safe rhymes that so many authors stick with. I also like the way the moral of the story is woven into the story without slapping you in the face on every page. I have to say that this book reminded me of something Dr. Seuss could have written. It is really excellent. I give it five stars, which I don't do very often.

Gertie is the tiniest yak, but she has a plan to change that. She eats her veggies, exercises, and reads a lot of books, determined to grow big like all of the other yaks and do the things they do. Nothing seems to be working and Gertie is tired of waiting. Then one day there is a job that the big yaks can’t do, but Gertie is just the perfect size to save the day.
Lu Fraser’s The Littlest Yak is a lovely book about accepting oneself just the way you are and not being in a hurry to grow. Kate Hindley’s illustrations are absolutely adorable. Really, this is one of the cutest books to read with your little people.

I read an arc of this book from NetGalley with my 4 year old.
A heartwarming story for children who want to grow up to make them reflect on the value of being little and the value of where you are in your life right now. We all have different talents and skills and sometimes even though it seems like ours are too different that difference is what is needed.
We loved the illustrations there’s something about them that makes them humorous. We loved the rhyming.

A very adorable story time book that showcases the strengths in our “weaknesses” and that every unique yak has a place in the world. I know for a fact that this book is enjoyable by children and I’m sure once published that sentiment will carry over

What a perfect story! The prose is engaging, the artwork is unique and absolutely stunning, and the message is so important for so many children. As the mother of a child who is awfully small for her age, I am very excited to share this book with her. I look forward to looking up this author and illustrator's other work (and watching for what they publish next)

i loved the illustrations. they were crisp and were not too busy, which will be good for easily distracted listeners. the words had a smooth cadence.
