This was a fascinating story. We think we know the story because we see it on TV, but I love how the Vuolo’s just opened their heart and shared the truth. That was brave and inspirational.

I received a complimentary copy of this book and was not required to write a favorable review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Jinger and Jeremy are very sweet individuals that deal with being in the public eye quietly and awkwardly. I honestly think that they would be much happier doing Christ's work in humble anonymity. However, Jinger is a public figure and they are doing the best that they can to work within the confines of the life that Jinger'e parents created.

The book is a quick read. It is open and honest about their relationship and the struggles that they had coming together. Each of them has insecurities and demons. Together they work to fight them as a united front.

Being on the launch team was a great experience. The weekly book club discussions were enjoyable. Thank you for the opportunity to get to know you better.

This book is such a fantastic and uplifting read! I loved it! While I don't keep up with media or celebrities very well, there are a few that are just so edifying and use their platform for good, that I enjoy keeping up with their lives. Previously, I had mainly kept up with Jessa. She is only like a month younger than me and also has four kiddos (almost for her!) and dealt with a miscarriage after the third baby. She has always seemed to have a sweet personality and I could relate to her a lot. Jinger didn't hold as much of a main role in Counting On, but I always liked her. I enjoyed seeing her and Jeremy's relationship progression on the show and her being married as well. I only watched the show up until around when they were married though, so had seen less of her.

Nevertheless, I was really excited about this book! It definitely did not disappoint! Both Jinger and Jeremy are such wonderful people who have really used the platform that God has given them to be a force for good and to teach and bless others. The book gave us a look at both of their lives from childhood. Jeremy's was all new to me, but even Jinger's was new and informative, despite her family being in the limelight for most of her life. I'm not sure if it was addressed on different shows her family has done, I have not watched near all of them, but there were many, many facts that I didn't know about it. I loved hearing about her parents from her perspective and how, despite so many children, they really guided their home with peace, love, kindness, and patience.

Jeremy really impressed with me with the accounts he gave from when he was younger. He made some mistakes while in college, but rather than blaming circumstances or another source, he identified himself and his pride as the root cause and when it had hit its peak, he immediately changed his ways and did everything he could to right his wrongs and turn to God. Most people are so hesitant to accept responsibility, that I was a bit taken back by the fact that he did not blame a single person besides himself. He also started a Christian athlete group at his college, and despite the insecurities that he wasn't qualified to lead it and worrying that the members would feel their was a discrepancy between his previous actions and his identity as a Christian, he swallowed his pride and did it anyways to glorify God. I found his behavior to be both brave and refreshing.

Hearing about their relationship and the lengths that Jeremy went through to date her was seriously amazing. That guy stuck around for like 6 months, answering who knows how many hours of questions, to get her father's approval. He did not give up when she was confused and listening to the doubts of others, and he stuck by even when her father said no, because of a theological difference. Despite being frustrated that her father took so long to give his permission, I love that he conversed with others he trusted and realized that the difference they had did not mean he was not a worthy suitor and both came to their own conclusions through the Bible.

I also didn't know how critical Ben and Jessa were to Jinger meeting Jeremy. I loved their gentle prodding to help Jeremy and Jinger realize that they were perfect for each other. I also loved seeing the way that God worked certain events in their lives to move them where they are now.

This book was very moving, but the ending, especially, really hit home for me. 2019 was a rough year for their family. Grandma Duggar passed and they miscarried a baby towards the end of that year, right after they had announced the pregnancy to their family. Despite the tragedy, Jinger talks about the peace that she felt from God, despite the trying circumstances. I was shocked because I also lost a baby that year and felt exactly what she described. Pain, so much pain, but also peace from God. I could not have handled the load on my own, but the Lord helped carry my burdens, and I loved that she found the same relief from her burdens.

Connecting the title of the book to their experiences, they show how they have had hope throughout their lives and how it is hope in Christ, not our circumstances, that will bring us happiness and fulfillment. We know we will be given undesirable circumstances in the world and that tragedies and hardships happen, but we have the ability to look to Christ and his promises and live without fear because we know who at the helm in control. Relying on Him can break us joy and relieve anxieties we have, no matter what the circumstances in our life.

In a world full of uncertainty and doubt, this book is so inspiring and needed. I'm so glad that Jeremy and Jinger have decided to share the truths that they have learned and use their platform encourage others and teach faith and goodness, both through their actions and words. This is a must read!!!

This book was a good look into Jinger and Jeremy's story. I loved that it was well organized and clearly labeled which author was writing each section.

This was a great read, regardless of whether or not you've ever watched the Duggars/Vuolos on TV. I loved the format of the book, which toggled back and forth between Jeremy's perspective and Jinger's. The most compelling part of the book was the section where Jeremy recounts how hard he had to work to win over Jim Bob's approval to court Jinger, and Jinger's struggles with trying to please her family while also following her heart. I've watched Jinger grow up on TV, but this book delves into so much more that fans did not see behind the scenes. It's been wonderful to see Jinger come into her own over these past several years, and this book explains how that progression happened, how she started to ask more questions about the Bible, and sought a closer, more personal relationship with Jesus. She was raised to believe certain things, and as she's gotten older, she started to ask questions and read the Bible more thoroughly, searching her own heart for the interpretation that felt right and true. As a minister, Jeremy encouraged her every step of the way. I would love to have been a fly on the wall to hear the theological conversations with Ben, Jessa, and Jeremy--it sounds like all have a great relationship and while they may disagree on certain things, they respect one another's right to hold a different perspective.

We loved this book! My husband and I read it together on a road trip. I loved how they were able to go through so many different stories of childhood and growing up and show how the hope of Christ was in everything. I could see that ‘hope’ giving them perseverance in situations it would have been easy to give up on. Even our kids enjoyed listening as we read in the car.

I wasn't quite sure what to expect when going into this book - an autobiography or a (preachy and superficial?) self-help book? It turns out it was mostly autobiographical and about decisive moments in their faith. I enjoyed it - it was an easy and fast read and I learnt some interesting things about them, especially about Jeremy.

People who follow the shows more closely might not learn that many new things, but I enjoyed learning more about Jeremy's theological views and about his and Jinger's courtship. I loved how they came to peace about their move to LA and seeing God orchestrate things with their new church. The passage about Jinger evaluating her modesty convictions was also great.

I found the writing style to be a bit lacking and not very engaging or emotional. If this book had been much longer, it would have really impacted the quality, but thanks to it being a short read I didn't mind as much.

I would have loved for Jinger and Jeremy to get a bit deeper into theology and the views they grew up with because I really enjoyed these passages.

I liked getting to know them a bit more and I loved the inclusion of Scripture not as overbearing or preachy, but quoted at appropriate points and illustrating their story when fit.

The book in itself is very inoffensive, both to the Duggar family and other Christian denominations, so that it can be read and enjoyed by many, but at some points, I would have loved a more personal or critical view.

The molestation scandal is glossed over and not called such, Josh isn't even mentioned by name and in light of recent events, it would have been an occasion to open up about what could have been done better and how they feel about him, but I also understand that this is not the focus of the book.

Overall, it's a good book for fans of the shows or if you want an overview of Jinger & Jeremy's lives up to this point and get to know them a bit more, but if you expect a deep and honest, raw account, you might be disappointed. Not that they owe us. But to enjoy the book, you should be looking for more of an overview than indepth biography.

Jinger & Jeremy do a wonderful job of showing the hope of the Lord in this book. I enjoyed reading about their backgrounds, their relationship and the experiences that made them who they are today. I felt that the ending was a bit rushed, but the rest of the book was very enjoyable! I recommend reading this book.

I appreciated the honesty Jeremy and Jinger shared in their book. It encouragedme when they shared about finding our hope only in Jesus and not the things of the world.
My only small no big deal problem is their use of the ESV Bible. I'm a King James person myself but that's my personal choice.

I thought I would not be surprised by anything they wrote because I listen to their podcast & watch the show. This book I found more intimate than the podcast or show. Not only do they speak of the hope we hold, this book showed they live it. They definitely were not on tv for anything other than spreading God’s message.

I've been a longtime "19 Kids" and "Counting On" watcher over the years and just love Jinger and Jeremy. Their new book flows from their hearts and it spoke hope and joy into my life. I was so happy to see how they turned to God in each and every trial and celebration. My absolute favorite line of the book, which is something Jeremy's mother told him during a particularly difficult situation, was "Don't doubt in the darkness what God has shown you in the light." I will keep that tidbit of wisdom tucked away and undoubtedly recall it when times are tough. I was profoundly encouraged and uplifted by this book. Great job guys! Can't wait for the next one!

The Hope We Hold has reminded me of the blessings we are promised if we put Christ first and trust Him in each step.
"I didn't genuinely understand my need for a savior...I did what was expected of me" (Excerpt from Chapter 5).
As a woman who was born and raised in a Christian home, I know what it is like take for granted the truth and hope a Christian life can provide. It is refreshing to hear read the journey of two Christians who have struggled through this complacency and challenged themselves to become who Christ would have them become.
The honesty shared in this book through the eyes of a young, relatable couple is encouraging and entertaining. Each page exemplifies the hope we all can cling to both in times of uncertainty and in times of joy.

I loved this book! So sweet and genuine, it was so refreshing. I have followed the Duggar’s from the beginning so I was eager to read it and I was not disappointed. Wishing this special couple all Gods blessings, I think they have and will make a difference in the world.

“Jeremy and I aren’t special people with perfect temperaments and charmed lives. The lives we lead, the relationship we have, is only possible because of our hope in Christ. And this hope isn’t exclusive. It’s available to anyone who wants it.”

You may have heard the names Jinger (Duggar) Vuolo and Jeremy Vuolo from the TV show Counting On, where their courtship, marriage, and parts of their lives were televised. However, if you want to get more personal stories and insight about how their relationship came about, their courtship, marriage, and early years of married life, you will want to pick up their new book, The Hope We Hold. I enjoyed getting an inside look at their lives. This book starts with memories from their childhood, and goes up until Jinger is pregnant with her second child. The TV show focuses on the whole family, but this book focuses on Jinger and Jeremy. It is the story of their relationship with each other and with God.

One thing that I really like about Jinger and Jeremy is that they seem to be authentic. They admitted to struggles that they have had with their faith, finding themselves, and their relationship. They also were not afraid to talk about God, and how their faith shaped their lives, as well as helped them through the hard times. Through the uncertainty of their early relationship, losing a dear grandmother, a miscarriage, and other insecurities, Jinger and Jeremy were able to overcome because of their faith in God. It was encouraging to read how these dark times, although tough, did not define them, but instead made them draw closer to God. This made them, and their relationship, stronger.

I would recommend this book if you enjoyed watching Jinger’s story on Counting On, but also if you are looking for a book about a Godly couple sharing how they navigate life. It was refreshing to see two young people willing to share so openly about their faith.

I received a digital copy this book from the publisher, in return for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

A very heartfelt, encouraging book. Readers who are familiar with the television shows "19 Kids and Counting" and "Counting On" will enjoy reading some of the background information about Jinger and Jeremy. Both are very open about their faith journey. Recommended!

From the moment I started reading I could not put this book down. I felt like I was sitting down having coffee with Jinger and Jeremey. As I read about their journey of coming together as husband and wife to hearing about the lowest moments the one thing that stayed consistent was the shining rays of hope. Woven through the pages was a sense of connection as I read, I could relate or feel how they were feeling. I laughed and cried. It was the best reminder that hope is our anchor in the Lord. Jinger and Jeremey show us they are not perfect and only human but how we can put our faith in Him and only then we do not need to fear this life that we were given. Beautiful, honest and raw.

It’s so interesting to read more about Jeremy & Jinger’s relationship that wasn’t on TLC. It’s amazing to see their walk with God. They both have such strong faith. That they aren’t perfect and they are being open and honest. The title of the book is perfect. There was a lot of hope through uncertainty. Before they make decisions they take time to pray until they know the answer. Jinger and Jeremy see each other as a team, not mine, his, or hers, but it’s theirs. Jinger and Jeremy both had struggles with their walk with God, but their walk grows stronger.

Jeremy and Jinger Vuolo (nee Duggar), of course are well known in various circles for two reasons - their ties to the expansive Duggar clan as seen on TV and their strong religious beliefs. This book gives an inside look into how the couple grew up, met, and got married and how their faith has played a part of it all.

For those who are primarily interested in reading about their lives 'behind the scenes':
There are definitely some new insights to be found within these pages. Mostly the 'new' information centers around Jeremy's life prior to meeting Jinger and the intense lengths he had to go through in order to gain Jim-Bob Duggar's approval to 'date' Jinger (who was 21 years old at the time).

As for new insights into Jinger's life, she does delve a little more into her background. Specifically, her trials with body image/disordered eating, and her struggles with having a true faith in God as a child. But if you're hoping for more detailed or private looks into the Duggar 'family culture' she grew up in (as they both refer to it in the book) or just more information about her other family members, you'll mostly be disappointed as both are hardly even mentioned. In particular, as I am sure a lot of people are curious about considering the recent child pornography charges that came out this past weekend, Josh Duggar is never even directly named in the book nor what he did in the past. There was just this from Jinger: "One of my siblings had made some sinful choices, but it had all been years ago. It had been awful, but we had dealt with it as a family." There's no other details given of what happened back then, only reflections on how Jinger was feeling at the time when it was all made public. As for Josh's scandal with being on the Ashley Madison website seeking an extramarital affair, it gets only a one sentence indirect mention from Jeremy: "I tried to encourage Ben as hate continued to pour out over social media, as TLC canceled the family's TV show, and as another shocking crisis hit later that summer involving one of the siblings." That's all there is on the topic of Josh. And lastly, yes, Jinger does address her decision to wear pants and goes into her grief associated with the death of her beloved Grandmother and her miscarriage. The latter two of which brought some tears to my eyes.

For those who are primarily interested in reading about their faith/religious beliefs:
The introduction and the epilogue are the only times that particularly feel like Jinger and Jeremy are actively evangelizing. Don't get me wrong, their faith is a central part of their lives and thus is mentioned frequently. But mostly it's just a part of their life story, it's not directly discussed. However, the epilogue keeps this book from simply being a memoir and changes the focus more towards what perhaps inspired the couple to write this book in the first place: "If you close this book thinking, 'Wow, what a nice couple; too bad I can't have a life like theirs,' we've failed. It our goal that you walk away inspired by what the hope of Christ has done for us, and what it can do for you too." I'm not entirely sure they achieved this goal, but pick up this book and decide for yourself.

Thank you Netgalley for the ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I loved this book so much and read it in two days, which is surprising because I hadn’t finished reading a book in two years!

The title is exactly perfect, as HOPE is woven all through their story. Jeremy & Jinger don’t just tell their story; they tell the story of GOD’s work in their lives.

Personally, as a Baptist pastor’s wife, I greatly appreciated their grappling with the differences in their theological upbringings—specifically the issues surrounding reformed theology. I’ve seen that theology difference cause quite a stir in Baptist circles, and wish everyone could read this story and be prodded toward the direction of unity. This difference should not divide us!

I cried as they discussed death and loss, and God’s very present help in those times. I was inspired that the Word of God, (the Bible) is the means by which they have accessed God’s great hope in their lives. I feel so incredibly blessed to have been able to read “The Hope We Hold”. Thank you, Vuolos, for leading people to the Truth of God’s Word!
