A young woman supposedly jumps off a cliff at a self help retreat while two other people die in a sweat lodge. Her sister and mother seek answers. Meanwhile, the self help guru and his partner have a complicated relationship. The sister goes undercover to another retreat held by the troubled couple. Other characters are introduced but not fleshed out very well. The back storyboard the first retreat is good. The story starts with a bang that carries it through until close to the end when it runs out of steam and the unlikely occurs.

A clever use of two time sequences, unreliable narrators and intriguing characters kept me glued to this novel. The story flowed, nice short chapters and easy to get to know who was who!
Fran is such an intriguing character. Really loved this book!

I don’t quite know how to describe this book. Fran’s sister, Jenna, died after attending a wellness retreat. There are many questions surrounding her death, and Fran just has to find out what happened. So she decides to attend the retreat and figure out what is going on. This story had some surprises, but for some reason, just failed to keep my attention. It was a good story, though.

What a fun read!

I'll have to admit that I never really get people who go gaga over those charismatic self help types, but I found myself definitely interested in our characters and our plot.

The then/now format worked wonderfully and there were things I definitely didn't see coming!

Very entertaining read - and I loved having a main character who was crusty and middle aged for a change!

Thanks to NetGalley and Harper Collins Publishing for this ARC. It was quite an interesting take to mesh investigation and processing loss and trying to unravel what happened in the background of a self help retreat. I appreciated Fran, one of our main characters, and the journey she goes on through the story. Taylor does a good job of weaving multiple narratives and viewpoints together across time. I would have appreciated a little more drawn out at the ending because I still had some questions but it was an enjoyable ride!

I am usually 100 percent engaged throughout CL Taylor's books. This one wasn't as engaging or thrilling for me. Fran loses her sister two years ago after attending a wellness retreat. So Fran goes undercover to attend the same retreat to discover what happens to Jenna. The story is full if mystery and told by mtipke viewpoints but just didn't hold my attention like I wanted it to and I was glad to finish the novel.

Hmmmm I'm just not sure how to talk about this book?! Lol while it was a very interesting story and really intriguing, I'm kind of at a loss on words?! I really did like the book , its definitely different than anything I've ever read! It was kind of an out there story but like I said very interesting! I wasn't sure where the storyline was going at times and I guess the best thing I can say is read it for yourself? Its definitely well worth reading! Just a little different lol thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!
