This was a tough but interesting read.
Premise
Over the next ten years, 40 to 60 million people in this country will be admitted to the ICU. Most of these hospitalizations will be sudden, unexpected, and harrowing, experiences that can alter patients and their families physically and emotionally, with effects that endure for years.
As someone who has had chronic health issues for many years as well as had a parent in the ICU I was fascinated to read more into this world and it gave me such a greater respect for the front line workers and all they go through to save and protect us.
