This was a good contemporary mystery/thriller about a woman that joined a dating app, met a boy, fell in love, trusted the boy, was ghosted by the boy, then discovered the boy's dark secrets.

Wren had a troubled childhood but came out stronger. She anonymously writes an advice column for people with serious problems, and also has a companion podcast where she discusses the letters she answers. She has a safe and comfortable life.

Wren hasn't had a serious relationship in a long time and her best friend convinces her to try a dating app. After a couple of meaningless nights with dates, she matches with Adam. He is serious and intense and Wren's connection with him is instantaneous. The pair see each other almost every night and Wren sees a future with him. One night Wren shares her dark past with Adam and she feels even closer to him. The next day, however, Adam tells her that something has happened and he has to leave. Now. Before she knows what's happened, Adam disappears from her life as quickly as he dropped into it.

As Wren tries to reconnect with Adam, she is approached by a private investigator who is also looking for Adam, but for very different reasons. Other girls are missing that were connected to him. Wren is determined to get to the bottom of the mystery surrounding Adam - or whatever his name is - and find out what happened to the missing girls. But will she end up missing herself?

The book started out really well and had me hooked. Once the book changed to a cat and mouse game between Wren, the private investigator and Adam, however, I think it lost a bit of focus. The book deals with some heavy subjects, including physical and mental abuse. There were times when the book was down right creepy, and that is a good thing. It's also set at the very beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, so that added to the scary atmosphere of the book.

Overall, I enjoyed this book and recommend you read it. I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley and Park Row. All opinions are my own.

Lots of people are going to love Lisa Unger’s new book!

The beginning grabbed me but as it went on there was much eye rolling. For an advice columnist Wren isn’t very good at taking her own. The middle dragged on. It did pick up at towards the end and I wanted to find out what in the world was going on. Loose ends are tied up but the end was still a bit disappointing. The writing was good enough that I will try another by this author.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this book.

This book was intriguing from very early on. I had a feeling from the title that it would be about online dating and that was an accurate guess. I was really on board for how the story was unfolding, including the flashbacks to Wren's childhood intermixed with the rest of the story. A lot of the story was told in a way that was reminiscent of the You novels by Caroline Kepnes. The end went a little off the rails for me though. I love a twisty and convoluted story as much as anyone, but I felt weird about this ending. I enjoyed the wild ride, though, and I really got to enjoy most of the characters. I'd recommend this one to people who have considered online dating and aren't afraid of reading about the absolute worst case scenario.

This was my first book from Lisa Unger, though I've frequently seen her books. After I finished Last Girl Ghosted, I wonder why I waited so long to give her a try!

This story has so many different elements working at once. I really liked Wren's character--she had a lot of mystery surrounding her background, but that is what kept things interesting. The use of an app to meet someone with the intentions of being casual, but ending up entranced was great.

There were a few things I didn't like--mainly I wonder about connections between some of the characters and their intentions, but I still enjoyed the story.

Overall, this book was really good. 4.5 stars rounded to 5. Thank you NetGalley and Park Row for my e-arc in exchange for an honest review.

I'm really growing fond of Lisa Unger. I was rooting for this protagonist (and Bailey Kirk!) from the beginning. I couldn't stand Adam (or whatever name he was using at any given time), and couldn't wait for his day of reckoning.... and couldn't have been more thrilled with how that turned out. I really loved the ending, which let you know that happy new beginnings were on the way.... Well written and just so dang good. I absolutely see this being a best seller.

Thank you to Harper Collins Canada for the digital review copy in exchange for an honest review. Last Girl Ghosted came out on October 5, 2021 - available now!

Wren and Adam meet on a dating app and everything is going well until out of nowhere Adam ghosts her after a cryptic goodbye text. Wren is not going to stand for this mystery disappearance and starts the search to figure out what happened to him.

I had a lot of questions about why Wren would trust Adam, so much of what he did just felt off, and as her history was revealed I would have expected her to be smarter than she was.

When I picked I was looking forward to a quick, twisty thriller and unfortunately found this to be too slow of a burn for me. The beginning hooked me, but the middle felt like it was going on and on and on. It did get exciting again near the end, but then it ended and I didn't love the ending of it either.

I haven't read any of Lisa Unger's other books, but I'll give another one a try for sure, this one probably just wasn't for me.

2.5 rounded to 3 stars.

A stellar thriller. A unique concept that kept me intrigued instantly. I thought this was a clever, well done suspense novel. Would recommend!

As someone that has been ghosted, I found the premise of Last Girl Ghosted to be very intriguing. If I was still doing online dating it would definitely make me think more about my interactions.

I enjoyed the first half of this book because the plot was suspenseful and fast-paced. I couldn't wait to figure out what was happening and I wish that I had gotten there a little faster than I did. I don't want to give anything away but I did enjoy the dive into Wren's past and her journey looking for Adam.

The writing drew me in and the characters felt fully realized. This thriller kept me interested and it was an enjoyable read.

Thank you to loveARCtually, Park Row Books, and Netgalley for the advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

A thank you to Netgalley for sharing the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Hmm...What to say about this one? If at first you don't succeed try, try again. If second time you'd rather not succeed, well you decide to persever or quit while you're ahead. Had I not received the ARC for review, I would have done the latter rather than the former. I am, however, at least partly culpable. I requested the ARC based on author alone since I have really enjoyed most of her books. Went into it blind and there was an immediate disconnect. I have no interest in the perils of online dating, found my attention flagging and Wren really didn't interest me at all. I actually found her insta love to be on the ridiculous side although I'm sure such things occassionally happen. Not the book for me, but I will continue to read Lisa Unger - I'll just be sure to read the description first.

Thank you Netgalley, Harlequin-Park Row and Lisa Unger.
Let me start by saying I’m a Lisa Unger Fan. I love how she weaves her stories.
This is the story of Wren, past and present. Wren friend Jax convinces her to put her profile on a dating app.
Wren meets Adam which appears to be a wonderful guy, they hit it off.
Then, all of a sudden Wren is ghosted. This is the adventure of Wren trying to find Adam and how the past meets the present.
Fast paced, page turner. Lisa Unger did not disappoint in this novel.
Highly recommend

First Lisa Unger book - won't be my last!
Psychological thriller with so many twists - keeps you reading to be sure Wren is safe! Love the nod to the way the world is now - mixed with the then chapters! Great character development - I almost felt sorry for the killers!

Thank you Netgalley and Harlequin for letting me read Unger’s next release before publication.

Wren met Adam online and fell hard for him. The night after she revealed her deepest darkest secret to him, he disappears. No more profiles, no phone and his apartment has turned into a vacation rental for a family.

When a detective knocks on Wren’s door and reveals he’s looking for Adam because of another matter, she agrees to help him in the chase.

This title started with a bang and hooked me into the storyline right away. Will Wren find him? Why did he ghost her?

I was a little taken aback when Wren agrees to meet him after finding out all the bad things he had done. She wasn’t supposed to be as stupid as those other girls.

Other than that, I enjoyed every minute of the book. I can always rely on Unger to keep me turning the pages. She’s one of the best thriller writers around. I highly recommend this title.

This starts with Wren, a young woman who meets Adam on a dating app, becomes emotionally attached and then he ghosts her. But this goes well beyond that story to something much deeper and darker. Lisa Unger is a master, I always find her books compulsive reads and this is no different. Make time, you won't want to put it down,

Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for an ecopy of The Last a girl Ghosted

✔️ I love online dating thrillers - I actually wished the “now” was more of the book 😆
✔️ the “then” deals with PTSD, abuse, guns and violence - which adds more complexity and layer to the story
✔️ I just loved some of the secondary characters in this book - and especially Ajax ! Everyone needs a friend like that !

This was my first Lisa Unger book - but won’t be my last ! I actually have one sitting on my shelf already !

As a girl who’s been ghosted myself I was so intrigued by the premise of this book. In short Wren meets Adam on an online dating app, falls quickly, dates for a couple months and then is ghosted. Adam has disappeared completely; profile taken down, phone disconnected & his “apartment” was actually a vacation rental. Wren is then visited by an investigator searching for “Adam” and his connection to several women who have disappeared.

This book started strong and was all too real. I had a little bit of a hard time keeping track of everything unfolding as it went on though. Overall I loved this twisty, dark story.

This is a dark, dark story - a psychological thriller with a thread of bleakness through it. Even the end (reasonably "happily ever after") is a little grim. That being said, this is a great story and a compelling read all about the dangers of dating folks you don't know well. This is about a man who "matches" with women on a dating site who have some kind of massive trauma in their lives and his attempts to get them to be his perfect woman. The heroine of this story has a traumatic background (as do the previous women he's dated - all of them need trigger warnings....) but she's using that trauma to make her life better when she gets entangled with this guy. This is the exact opposite of a cozy mystery, but if you have patrons who like dark stories with twists and lots of drama, this book will be for them!

Unger’s thrillers always deliver! When Wren meets Adam on a dating app, she has no idea what a twisty road the relationship will take her down. After Adam disappears, Wren begins to question everything Adam has told her and she starts to question herself. Once she finds out he has done this to other women, she starts to hunt him and the missing girls down.

This proof contains odd spacing in sentences and within words that contain the letter f.

Wren Greenwood finally gives into her best friend’s Jax’s advice and begins using a dating app to find potential matches. Wren finds herself drawn to the profile of a man who isn’t conventionally handsome, but really appeals to her. Wren and Adam meet up and start seeing each other regularly. Things go great between them for three months, and Wren finds herself telling Adam things about her past that she hasn’t told anyone. Out of nowhere, he texts her saying he’s sorry, but something has happened and he has to go. Wren refuses to be ghosted by the man she thought could be her soulmate and wants answers. However, when handsome private detective Bailey Kirk shows up at Wren’s door, she begins to question whether she ever knew Adam at all.

This story is told mostly in the present from Wren’s point-of-view with some flashbacks to her childhood as well as stories from other women. These flashbacks provide some useful information about the characters, but sometimes slow the pace of the current story. Some of the current chapters are narrated in the second person as if Wren were speaking directly to Adam. That takes some time to get used to, but was fine once I did. It was interesting seeing the relationship between Wren and Adam grow and then reading about the immediate aftermath when he leaves.

Things get really intriguing when Bailey arrives on the scene with information that Wren isn’t the first girl Adam has ghosted. I like the friendship between Jax and Wren and they way the two childhood friends are there for each other. Wren also secretly writes an advice column and does a corresponding podcast and I really like that aspect of the story. Wren frequently references another friend from her childhood, Robin, and I was disappointed when the backstory to that friendship is revealed. The revelation about Robin and some of the other events that happen toward the end make the book less enjoyable than I thought it would be. It just became too much and too hard to relate to. However, this dark and sometimes strange story is a dramatic, compelling read that fans of this author should enjoy.

Wren has a date tonight. She is not a big dater. But, the guy on the Torch app quoted from one of her favorite authors. Adam is not a jock, like you usually see. He looks normal and just right for her. These two become an item…until Wren is ghosted. Then a private detective shows up. He is sure Adam is responsible for some other missing girls.

Wren is a character with a tragic past. Wren changed her name after the tragedy that took her family. She now has created a famous advice column/podcast called Dear Birdie. She also thinks she has her past well hidden. But, she is not as protected as she thought.

Bailey Kirk, the private detective, knows exactly who she is and he knows her past. He is determined to track down Adam. But, things go wrong! Very, very wrong!

This is the best book by this author…hands down! There are so many layers and twists and turns. I swear…I could not stop reading and when I could not read it for…well life…I was thinking about it.

Need a FANTASTIC thriller! RUN…DON’T WALK to get this one!

I received this novel from the publisher for a honest review.
