A Time to Swill by Sherry Harris was a great read. Thank you Netgalley for the advance reader copy in exchange for an honest review. While running on the beach Chloe Jackson hears a cry from a sailboat. The fog is very thick so she goes out to the boat and climbs in. It turns out to be a cat on board, not a baby. A fire starts on the boat and she runs off with the cat, leaving a skeleton in one of the cabins. She is rescued, what an exciting morning.
This was a story that gripped the reader from the beginning and held on. I really enjoyed it.

Chloe Jackson Sea Glass Saloon Mystery
Is the second book in the series. Chloe is adjusting to her life in Florida. She is a fun, intelligent and nosy character. She is swept away at sea and then when she is rescued the real mystery begins.

Chloe Jackson is returning to the Florida panhandle, to the home she inherited. As she's running on the beach, the fog envelops her, and she hears what she thinks is a baby crying.
She discovers a boat washed up on the sand, and the crying is getting louder.
When Chloe boards the boat, she finds the source of the crying, thankful it's a cat, and not a baby.
The cat isn't the only thing Chloe finds, and before she knows it, she's wrapped up in a murder investigation, while fighting for her inheritance when an unexpected visitor shows up.
While I enjoyed the story, I found a few parts dragging a bit, but I still thoroughly enjoyed A Time to Swill.
Thank you for selecting me to read an advanced digital copy of this book.

Through NetGalley, I received a free copy of A TIME TO SWILL (Book 2 of the Chloe Jackson, Sea Glass Saloon Mysteries) by Sherry Harris in exchange for an honest review. After losing both her job and her apartment in Chicago, Chloe decided to take up a new life in Emerald Cove, Florida, where she has both a house and a business. Chloe has barely unpacked anything when a morning run swirls her life into a tempest. Chloe finds a ghost ship washed up on a sandbar and ends up boarding the vessel when she hears crying from within. Once aboard, Chloe finds more than the source of the crying, she also finds a skeleton. The investigation into the ship reveals a link to the disappearance of four people presumed lost at sea twelve years before. Old suspicions return, and Chloe’s determination to exonerate two of her new friends lands her in rough waters.

I liked this book. At the time I read it, I hadn’t read to previous book, but I had no trouble keeping the characters or story straight. I liked it enough that I have now read the first book in the series. I recommend this book to fans of cozy mysteries featuring murder, ghost ships, disappearances at sea, and new beginnings.

I had really liked the first in this series. I also love the other series by this author. That said, I felt like parts of this book were a mess; in particular the ending. There were so many threads and working parts that some never connects or were fully explained. It was an attempt at something too complex that didn't get pulled off. In the book, a big deal is made about the use of y'all. I have lived all my life in Georgia or Alabama and y'all is NEVER singular. It is a contraction of you all. Plural. All. I do enjoy the main character and even the supporting characters and I am glad to see a better relationship between Vivi and Chloe. I will give the next one a try though.

The second book in the Chloe Jackson Sea Glass Saloon Mystery series by Sherry Harris is here!! As a lover of all things Sarah Winston Garage Sale Mysteries, there was no way I was missing out on this new series by Sherry Harris. I was not disappointed at all. Chloe Jackson is everything I need in a cozy mystery heroine. She is likable (always important), realistic, imperfect - but the perfect person for this series, a little clueless, fiercely protective, and someone I would love to be my best friend. The story is not, however, all grins and giggles as Chloe is swept out to sea in a washed-up sailboat, she soon learns is tied back to long ago mysterious disappearance. Her dramatic rescue is only the beginning as events unfold, history is dredged up, wounds reopen, and murder accusations fly.

Chloe is starting to settle in at her new home, new place of employment, and with her new friends. She and Vivi have reached an understanding and while they aren't besties, they are getting along. Chloe has just returned to Florida after packing up her life in Chicago. Chloe's discovery on the beach leads to some harsh realities for some of the townsfolk and a reopening of almost healed wounds. For some, closure. For others, the reappearance of old accusations. For a few, both.

This story is a fast-paced and engaging novel. The author is such a wonderful writer and I love her ability to instill true emotional reactions in her readers, and not just shock, awe, and humor. This book has a theme threaded through it a lot of people have, are, or will work through at some point in their lives. Realism - that's where it's at for me in any book.

A Time to Swill is a great sophomore book in this new series. I love the continued character development and introduction of an assortment of secondary characters. Chloe considers several of the characters to be suspects, giving the reader several viable murderers. Her process of elimination leads to a twist I didn't see coming. The story is original, and I was able to visualize the entire story as each scene played out. A fantastic story, a potential love interest, and a capable and competent main character make this 5 stars for me. The author has another hit series on her hands!

I enjoyed this book. It has a lot of tension in it. I wish the matter of Boone's will was resolved by the end of the book but it's not so there's a bit of a cliffhanging. I liked the characters and the story is interesting. #ATimetoSwill #NetGalley

Chloe Jackson has finally returned to Florida after packing up the remaining pieces of her life back in Chicago. Being back in Emerald Cove all of a few hours she heads out for her daily run on the beach and sees a boat listing just off the shoreline. When Chloe thinks she hears a baby crying on the ship, she dives in and swims out while waiting for the police to arrive.

What Chloe finds is a cat, a skeleton, a diamond ring, and the boat being dragged out further in the Gulf of Mexico. Jumping from the boat with the cat just before it explodes, Chloe is rescued and dropped off near her place of business. Trying to track down the Good Samaritan that saved her, Chloe finds there’s something strange about the ship as it’s was tied to atheism disappearance of five locals 12 years ago. And if current events has anything to say, Chloe suspects there’s still some local funny business going on that ties back to the boat. Will Chloe and friends figure it out? It’s time to sink or swim!

A great series that keeps me coming back for more. I can almost hears the surf and smell the salt as I read it!

Kindle Copy for Review from NetGalley and Kensington Books.

I received a free, advance copy of this book and this is my unbiased and voluntary review.
Chloe will once again find herself in peril as she investigates a sailboat vessel with a mewing cat and a human skeleton in the cabin.

It appears the skeleton is tied back to Chloe's friend Ralph, whose wife disappeared on a sailboat with three other people over a decade ago. Ralph in the meantime has remarried and now looks as the prime suspect in her death.

Chloe will investigate and discover nefarious dealings as she looks for answers. Things are not as it seems as she will soon find out.

It is an enjoyable cozy with the ghostly ship feel.

When her best friend died in Afghanistan, Chicago children's librarian Chloe got herself down to the
Florida panhandle to fulfill the promise she made after learning that he was not only in love with her but left his house, boat, and his share of the Sea Glass Saloon to her. After closing up in Chicago, she goes for a morning run in the fog and comes across an abandoned sailboat with a small cat trapped inside with a skeleton and a few artifacts of fairly recent vintage. Getting back to shore is a problem once the boat is adrift again and the questions keep piling up. Things get even worse when a bounder from the past threatens Chloe and her prickly business partner. Let the sleuthing begin!
I was happy to get this ARC because I really loves the first book in the series, so I can't really say this is an unbiased review.
I requested and received a free ebook copy from Kensington Books via NetGalley. Thank you!

A Time to Swill by Sherry Harris is the 3rd in the Chloe Jackson, Sea Glass Saloon Mystery series. When Chloe goes out for her morning run, she doesn’t expect to be swept out to sea on a ghost ship. Nor does she expect to find a skeleton, or a ring that belongs to a woman who has been missing for over a decade and was married to one of the heritage business owners. What else can Chloe do but investigate when it seems as though one of her friends is the prime suspect?

I always look forward to escaping to the delightful pages of this intriguing series. Chloe is a spunky protagonist, who can save herself - thank you very much! The characters are so well-written and multi-dimensional that I feel as though they have become my friends by the time that I read the last page. Just as with real people, they each have their flaws and their secrets. The author paints such a vivid picture of the coastal community that I can almost feel the breeze on my face and the warm sand between my toes. The mystery is believable yet filled with twists and turns. And I always turn the last page happy and satisfied.
