A nice, clean, and wholesome love story. While this was cute and the first in a series, I'm not sure I'd personally pick up the rest. Its a cute little book don't get me wrong, it's just a bit too wholesome for my tastes. I need a little more realistic romance myself. However, for the right reader this is perfect! If you enjoy a sweet and clean love story, this is for you!

I received an advanced copy for free and am leaving this review voluntarily. Thank you to NetGalley, Jennifer Snow, and Entangled Publishing. ❤️

I've read a few books of a similar vein, where the main character inherits a guest house or a B&B and this time Sarah has temporarily moved from LA to a small coastal town run a B&B left to her by her grandmother. She's not looking for love and she's not looking for a new career but maybe she'll find both. I beautifully written story, that'll warm your heart.

Wow this book was just so good and so easy to get lost in. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and I just didn't want the story to end. I just couldn't get enough of these wonderful characters and I just loved getting to see their journey. I will most definitely be reading more stories from this wonderful author.

Funny. I started reading a different book by Jennifer Snow and realized I had skipped over A LOT LIKE LOVE. Both books center around a wondrous coast town Blue Moon Bay and obviously had several characters in common as well. Rather than start somewhat in the middle I did something that I confess doing quite often. Going backwards which brought me to A LOT LIKE LOVE. I have had the great honor of reviewing a great many books by the talented Jennifer Snow. As soon as I began this one, I knew it was going to capture my heart.

A LOT LIKE LOVE is about renewing friendships, starting new relationships and honoring the wishes of a loved one. Sarah’s grandmother Dove recently passed and Sarah inherited the bed and breakfast in, Dove’s Nest, she had run forever. Everyone considered that was the strangest choice of all the grandchildren since Sarah had an amazing career in technology and software. There was a lot of family history at Doves inn and in Blue Moon Bay for Sarah. Being back meant she could reconnect with some best friends from her high school days. And then of course there was Wes.

Many girls have an unresolved high school crush and for Sarah it was Wes. He was the football star, and she was the nerd. Wes married the love of his life Kelly, and they had a daughter Marissa now nine. Unfortunately Kelly died after a somewhat lengthy illness and Wes was back home taking advantage of having a community to help with his adorable, smart as a whip, daughter.

Enter, or should I say reenter, Sarah. Sarah needs someone to renovate the inn so that she can sell it and get back to the city. The inn needs some significant work and Wes’s construction company gave Sarah a very reasonable quote. Wes was happy that the old inn was going to be saved. It was a grand part of his community.

Working together with Sarah had somehow brightened up his life. He had been keeping busy bringing up his daughter and growing a business. Didn’t leave time for a personal life. And candidly Wes didn’t think he was ready for that. In addition he had Marissa to think about. They were both still in a vulnerable position.

Sarah was a good influence on Marissa. Provided direction to Interests they both shared. But for Sarah this was all bittersweet. She was beginning to realize that her interest in Wes had not really disappeared after all these years. And Marissa was claiming a part of her heart as well. Not at all what Sarah had planned. But that’s the thing about plans, made to be broken.

A LOT LIKE LOVE is about the possibilities that present themselves if you are willing to make changes. There is a comfort in routine, and some prefer that to altering their lives to make those changes. Taking a risk when it seems as if life is just fine thank you. Well in A LOT LIKE LOVE Jennifer Snow takes on the challenge of risk taking – risk of losing your heart. Risk of taking a leap of faith in love and career. There is a huge difference between attraction and love. In A LOT LIKE LOVE Jennifer Snow through her creative dialog and wondrous characters leads us through the necessary steps to realize what opportunities are right in front of our eyes. The author also deftly illustrates that there is a certain amount of bravery in following our heart.

Sarah as well as the rest of the family is surprised when she inherits her grandmother's B&B. Hopefully, she can sell it and get back to her tech job in the city without seeing Wes. When Sarah gets wedged in the splintered landing of the spiral staircase, Wes is the one that rescues her. Wes convinces Sarah to let him renovate the B&B before she sells it. Before long, sparks are flying between the two of them. When Wes brings his brilliant nine year old daughter Marissa to work, Sarah and Marissa connect immediately. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. This is the first book that I have read by Jennifer Snow and I will look for more of her books to read. I enjoyed the humorous moments in the book, especially with Lia in town for a family reunion. I love how widower Wes really loved his wife and is trying to understand his daughter. I also love how both Sarah and Wes struggle with starting a relationship. I also love how Sarah is so sharp and really relates to Marissa. Even though this is a sweet romance, it does have a few steamy scenes. I really enjoyed this book.

The first in a new series by Jennifer Snow, takes place in the small town of Blue Moon Bay, CA. Sarah Lewis returns for her grandmother's funeral and surprise- she inherited the run down B&B, Dove's Nest. She works in LA for a company that develops new apps and doesn't understand why her grandmother would leave B&B to her. While trying to decide what to do with it, Wes Sharrun, her high school crush and tutoring student convinces her to restore it. He never knew she had a crush on him, thinking that she was a genius and he a dumb jock. And he had a girlfriend, Kelly, who he married and had a child with. He had also been drafted by the NFL, but an injury after his third season, brought them back home and he opened his own construction business. Kelly had also succumbed to cancer 5 years before. Marissa, his daughter is a delight. She is just like Sarah, in her genius and interests and they bond instantly. While they now have a second chance, Sarah is scared of getting hurt again and Wes is scared of making a mistake as a parent. So it takes matchmaking by Marissa to get what she wants.

I very much enjoyed reading this book. The characters are engaging and the plot realistic. I read an ARC provided by NetGalley.com. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.

Finding love again is not an easy task when you are not even looking. This book is a great one sitting read that will leave you all in your feelings. It was a great book by Jennifer Snow that shows her true writing talent.

I loved this book! Small town feels, mixing the old with the new, gotta love a DILF, and some badassery of females. Our protagonist inherits the old B&B from her grandmother, and instead of selling it off as-is, like she wants, she gets talked into renovating before her sale by her high school crush. Could this be her chance to start over? Or should she get back to her real life like she planned? Only one way to find out!!!

Sarah and Wes were the couple that could be, if only they have each other a chance. Thanks to a meddling nine year old (who is brilliant!), and an inheritance that raised several eyebrows (but she sure knew what she was doing, even beyond the grave!), they may just get the chance neither is expecting.

It was my first time reading this author's work, so I didn't know what to expect, but I liked the cover and the synopsis, so I was ready for a new adventure. What I got... was that and more! It was a sweet story filled with the much adulting, heartache, and humor, and it kept my attention the whole way through. I loved Sarah's continued attempts at resisting, while focusing on all that needed doing... even when it meant trying to keep a promise to a little girl. I loved Wes in all his handy man glory, giving advice where his expertise allowed, and always looking out for the customer, sometimes to the detriment of his own pocket. His heart was broken but oh so large, and just needed the right adjustments to see all that was before him. The ending was just right, even if it looked like it was going all wrong, and it's certainly one that Contemporary Romance fans won't want to miss!

I'm already impatient for the next book in the Blue Moon Bay series. The town and minor characters are enchanting and I was wishing I could stay at the inn myself!

I love Jennifer Snow's writing and A Lot Like Love was no different. I enjoyed the story and loved Sara and Wes. This was a wonderful single dad romance and I definitely recommend it.

After inheriting a money pit inn that she doesn’t want, she ends up restoring it and finding love she wasn’t expecting. A quick and easy read for a relaxing day.

2.5 stars (rounded up)

This was my first book by this author and although I didn't hate it, I didn't love it either. I enjoyed the overall story--the small town ambiance, the characters and the slow burn romance--but I also had a hard time connecting it all together. I just think there was a lot going on and the romance, especially the connection between Wes and Sarah, got lost in it all. These two had a history from their high school days, not as lovers but not as friends either, so it was a little hard for me to become invested in their romance without more of an established connection. But ultimately, this is more of a case of "it's not you, it's me".

That little nuisance aside, I think A LOT LIKE LOVE worked well as the first book in a series since it introduced the reader to Blue Moon Bay and some of its residents. it also gave set the overall tone for the other books in the series. I've read great things about this author and enjoyed the overall feel of this story, so I will definitely be giving another chance to the series.

All in all, a good start to a series and an enjoyable small town read (if you're not as nit-picky as me!).
