Sarah is back in her hometown because her grandmother passed on and made Sarah the beneficiary of the family inn. Sarah's life is in LA and she has every intention of returning to it. Wes, her high school crush, is a contractor who does the repairs and upgrades on the inn Sarah feels are needed to sell. Wes is a widower with a daughter who is nine years old. For me, the daughter, Marissa, is where I had the most trouble with this story. She behaved beyond her years..IMO. The ocean scene in current day was childish on Sarah's behalf. Overall, though, I liked the book.

A wonderful feel good romance, will a combined project give Sarah and Wes a chance at love? When Sarah inherits her grandmother’s B&B, she’s upset to think that if she sells, it will be demolished. Wes is contracted to help with restorations, Sarah had a crush on him in high school, will she move onto the next level romantically? A brilliant storyline of hope, love and lots of passion, this book is well written and I found that a wonderful feeling of connection to the main characters lingered after the story ended.
My first Jennifer Snow, it won’t be my last!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This story was absolutely incredible. I found this to be an easy, comfortable romantic story, that I could curl up with and lose myself in for hours at a time. I had a hard time putting this book down, and thought about Sarah's story often. It touched my heart, and made my story-loving soul incredibly. I love the inclusion of Sarah's grandma's story, it accompanied Sarah's story perfectly. What an absolute delight of a read!

I am almost embarrassed to give a review on this book because of how graphic it is in nature. I was not expecting a lot of the graphic details that this story presents. I became hooked on the storyline and the characters and about 3/4 of the way through it, the graphic stuff came in. I literally turned the pages and didn’t even look at it because it was just too much. I figured I might warn you all I had of time! You will definitely fall in love with the characters and will want to know how the story turns out so if you read it and do not like all of the graphic content, prepare to turn the pages quickly like I did. There are probably two or three places where you will want to do this. I’m not really certain that the story needed all of that to be a great story because overall it was great, just a little too much for me in my opinion!

Sarah inherits a falling down B&B, her old friend and one time crush from high school, Wes, convinces her to fix up the place before selling it or opening it for business. It just so happens that Wes is a contractor and she hires him. Sarah left town after high school with hard feelings toward Wes and now that he's a widower, maybe it's time to make things right. Two romances in one book, it was so heart-warming and cry worthy. This is a sweet romance, a nice and easy read with likable characters that anyone would root for. This is my first book by Jennifer Snow but I know I will be checking out her other books. Great book for a fun read in the sun. I'm not big on romance books anymore but this book, OMG, I loved it so much and there will be another book coming in Sept. I can't wait, I just hope Entangled Publishing, LLC and NetGalley will let me read it early too. But seriously this book is one of the best, so if you like romance get out here and buy it.

I was given this book by Entangled Publishing, LLC and NetGalley for an honest review. Thank You.

A straightforward, sweet romance, as the heroine inherits her grandmother's B&B and her old flame, a contractor with a cute kid, helps furbish it up. Love happens along the way.

There are no surprises here, which is exactly what a lot of readers will enjoy, especially this very weird year. It had just enough heart to keep this side of feeling like paint-by-numbers. The characters are fun small town folk, the kid is adorable without being unbelievable, and the romance sweet.

I know we’ve all read/watched the Hallmark movies of the busy city girl inheriting a quaint business in a small town and having to make the decision to go back to their real life or stay with the new life. This is that plot line but with a little of its own spin. I can’t wait for the next book in this new series to come out. Also, as a side note, I would love to see this as a Hallmark series.

Such a sweet, fun second chance at love story. Sarah Lewis inherits her grandmother’s inn in Blue Moon Bay. Her goal is to get in, put up a for sale sign and get out as quickly as she can and return home to LA. She discovers it is in pretty poor condition and that any interested buyers want to raze it and start anew. She just can’t let that happen as she adored her beloved grandmother and knew it would break her heart. And so she hires the best contractor, who she really didn’t want to see again, her high school crush. Wes is just trying to get through every day taking care of his little girl, trying to keep his struggling contracting business afloat and not fall apart from the loss of his wife. Every day it gets harder and harder. During the renovation they do the slow dance of falling in love, but both are so cautious that they do all they can to fight it. Will they, won’t they? Are they willing to take a chance on each other, love and their own happily ever after? of course they will, but it is a wonderful path to their HEA. Loved the read.

A Lot Like Love is the story of Sarah and her return to Blue Moon Bay when she inherits her grandmother's B&B. Needing to get back to the city and her very demanding job, Sarah wants to make a quick sale, but with the B&B in such bad shape, she needs Wes Sharrun to work his magic and bring it up to scratch; except he's her childhood crush that never went away.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It's a feel good read with all the essentials of a small town romance. Parts of it were a bit emotional but on the whole it was very enjoyable with a beautiful setting of a small coastal town and great characters.

A Lot Like Love by Jennifer Snow is the perfect beach read, the author's last name notwithstanding! Sarah Lewis inherits her grandmother's old, run down B&B and she is at a loss to understand why. She has a busy life in LA and not time for the renovations the inn needs, nor time to run an inn. She decides to renovate the inn so she can sell it. Her old crush, Wes Sharrun is now a contractor with an adorable 9 year old and a heart broken by the death of his wife a few years before from cancer. He offers to help with the renovations and in the process renovates Sarah's entire life. But is she willing to give up the career she's worked so hard at for a life at the beach, running a B&B to be with him?

Thank you to the author, Entangled Publishing, LLC and NetGalley for an ARC of this novel in exchange for my honest review.

A Lot Like Love by Jennifer Snow is that kind of dreamy romance that makes my romance addicted heart blissfully happy. Set in a beautiful small town, this second chance romance delivers swoon and heartaching feels perfectly.

Sarah Lewis has a demanding career in a digital company in LA and she has no idea why her grandmother has left her dilapidated B&B in Blue Moon Bay to someone introvert and klutzy like her. She has to make some renovations before she can put it up for sale and Wes, her childhood crush is the contractor. Will their meeting go beyond repairing the house and proceed to mending hearts? Wes has responsibilities like being single dad to smart nerdy nine year old Marissa and trying to run his business while Sarah's life is in LA.

I have read so many stories in similar plot line and still I never get tired of it. A girl from city coming back to her hometown and falling in love while taking care of some sentimental property..I don't know why this makes my heart sing every single time. May be it's about taking risk, going on adventure and building something fresh from the scratch. And the eye candy man making me swoon doesn't hurt either. Wes has lost his wife five years back and he is super protective of Marissa. He doesn't understand her fascination with technology and coding because he is old fashioned and more about athletic. He is a great dad and Sarah just helped him to connect to Marissa in a deeper way. Marissa is just awesome! I love this kid so much. And Sarah is an amazing woman. She finally realised that she is no longer happy working in a job that sucked out her passion with technology. She took a risk and it paid off. They have a beautiful happily ever after that couldn't come in a better way.

In today's complex world, simple love stories like A Lot Like Love by Jennifer Snow give the perfect escape. I lose myself in the pages and end up with a happy heart.

Perfectly sweet summer romance!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
this story of rebuilding the family home, surrounded by good friends, your high school crush that has only gotten better with age, in a small town atmosphere, makes for the perfect read on a lazy summer afternoon.
Snow writes an awesome story loaded with the heart pounding push and pulls as a second chance with Sarah's secret crush from years past might have a chance to develop. We are touched as real struggles with work and the balance of life situations make it tough to navigate. Wes is struggling too and Snow keeps us on our toes as to how it all will work out.
A Lot Like Love is a super sweet summer romance that will sweep you away with a lovely backdrop, an engaging thoughtful plot, and characters that are just right for each other. Building families and stealing hearts!
An altogether sweet, cute read, albeit with a few missing pieces for me, I enjoyed reading A Lot Like Love a whole lot. Jennifer Snow sketched a story that had banter, friendship, a cute kid (always a winner, IMHO), and two lead characters that were easily to root for. I was invested in Sarah and Wes's love story right from the start, and their present-day meet-cute was definitely memorable, but there was some information that was left out of their shared past that kept pulling me from the story as I wondered about it—and whether it would be addressed—as well as a missing piece in their future that I believe should have been resolved. Beyond those complaints, however, is a romance that is sure to bring a smile to your face and a small town that I would definitely like to revisit going forward, as Sarah's friends find their own HEA.
I love Jennifer Snow's books and was so excited to see she'd be kicking off a new series with A Lot Like Love!
Sarah returns to her hometown when her grandmother passes away and she inherits a bed and breakfast. She hires her high school crush, Wes, to work on renovations for the B&B and it isn't long before the attraction between them starts to grow. Things are complicated as she only plans on being in town a short time, he's falling for someone for the first time since losing his wife, and his daughter Marissa has grown close to her too.
The story moves at a nice pace and I really liked both Sarah and Wes. Their hesitations to start a relationship and the conflict felt realistic. It was sweet, too, seeing how Sarah connected with Marissa and reconnected with her best friends. I am looking forward to more from this sweet and fun small town romance series!
What a super sweet story without being super cheesy. I’m a fan of Jennifer Snow’s other series, and now I’m a fan of this one too :)
Sarah works hard for her career in the tech field, and climbing her way up the corporate ladder until her grandmother passes away and leaves her the B&B that she ran in her hometown, but when Sarah gets there she finds it needs a lot of TLC and updating if she’s going to be able to sell it. While she stays in town for the funeral, her high school crush comes to see her and their old flame sparks.
Wes and his daughter Marissa are coping with the loss of their wife and mother 5 years ago, and Wes is struggling to keep his construction business afloat. When Sarah hires Wes to do the renovation to the B&B, it could make all the difference to his business and his life. As they spend more and more time together, they realize that their spark is growing into a full blown flame but they don’t know how to handle it-her career is her life, and he has to protect his daughter. However, his daughter quickly bonds with Sarah over their love for technology and wanting to help Wes’s business get back on track after having to take time off to care for his wife while she was sick and then for his daughter by himself.
During the renovation, Sarah finds her grandmother’s journals and learns some things she never knew, which was a really cool side story, and helped Sarah see her life in a new way.
It was nice to see them find their way back to each other and create a new family with Marissa. There’s a little bit of steam, but there’s more sweetness than anything.
Thanks to Entangled and Netgalley for this Arc in exchange for my review.
I enjoyed Sarah & Wes’s story. It’s a great second chance, small town romance. Sarah & Wes knew each other in high school. Sarah helped tutor Wes the last couple of years. Then there was an “incident” (which was construed totally different from Wes’s perspective) that made Sarah not want to see him again. Unfortunately a few years later, Sarah’s grandmother passes & she has to come back to her hometown. She surprisingly inherits her B&B that’s extremely run down. This is how she reconnects with Wes because he’s now a widowed local contractor with a daughter. I like the pace of this story & how the romance develops. Marissa (Wes’s daughter) is great as well. Highly recommend reading this book.
Contemporary Romance
Sarah Lewis has a great job in the city developing apps for long-distance communication and teleconferencing. Her only wish is her employer could be less restrictive and allow Sarah to show her real talents in the field, but she surmises this is what happens when you work for someone else. Maybe one day her dream of being her own boss will come true.
Imagine her surprise when she learns she inherited her grandmother's B&B in the coastal town of Blue Moon Bay, where she was raised. Taking a leave of absence, she heads home to spread her beloved grandmother's ashes, settle the estate, and sell the property. When she arrives, she is shocked to see how the inn has deteriorated over the years, and she is still wondering why she became the beneficiary. As a teen, she couldn't wait to leave town. Shy and klutzy, she had been the brunt of teasing from her peers.
Sarah is distraught upon seeing how run down the B&B is and decides if she has some renovations done, she'd have a better chance at selling; this place once was a tourist attraction, but most of all it was a place her gran loved. Can she in good conscience sell, and likely to a developer that will erect condos or even worse, a hotel? Can she ruin the sleepy town whose residents want to keep it small and quaint?
At a crossroads, she ends up hiring none other than Wes Sharrun, a former football champ, and her high school crush. Too bad it was only one-sided. She got to know Wes when she tutored him with his studies, and the more time she spent with him, the deeper her feelings grew. But he was a jock, and she would be the last person he would consider as a girlfriend, especially since he dated Kelly for years. But through the years, Sarah heard Wes married Kelly, and they had a daughter, but sadly, Kelly perished from cancer five years prior.
Sarah's first encounter of seeing Wes, is, of course, embarrassing. He shows up at the inn only to find Sarah hanging from the ceiling after part of the landing had collapsed. Groaning, but needing help, she pleads with him to get her down before she falls and breaks her neck. She wonders why every time she is around Wes, she always seems to be in embarrassing situations, especially one time before graduation where she was humiliated by an incident she'll never forget!
After Wes's football career crashed, he returned to Big Moon to start a construction company. Things have been tough from dealing with Kelly's medical bills, but he is hoping to get back on his feet. His main focus is caring for his nine-year-daughter, Marissa, though he often finds himself lonely. Seeing Sarah again stirs something in him. He's enchanted by her spunk and independence.
Marissa, somewhat of a nerd, upsets Wes for he believes she should be out playing with friends rather than staying stuck in the house on the computer; but she enjoys building websites. When she meets Sarah, she is overjoyed they have something in common. She spends the day working, with Sarah offering her help with her endeavors while Wes works.
Sarah is surprised at how attached she becomes to the young girl. Now she is having second thoughts about selling her inheritance and heading back to the city. It doesn't help that her two best friends, Jessica and Whitney, want her to stay, too.
Always lacking in confidence, she looks to her parents for support but doesn't receive the blessings she is looking for. Yet when she and Wes share a kiss, her heart tells her this is where she belongs, even if nothing could happen between them.
"And despite the pull she'd always felt toward him, it was enough to ground her in the reality of their situation. He wasn't sure if he was ready to move on, and she had no idea how she felt. Her life was far too complicated at the moment to think about a relationship, but she was starting to think she wanted one. Finding love had always taken a back seat to her career, but she'd hoped as she neared thirty, her career would be established, and she could turn her attention to other aspects of life."
Conflicting emotions abound between both Sarah and Wes. She is pulled closer to him and Marissa, but is he ready to let go of the past? And can she give up her career and return home to stay?
Some parts of this novel are steamy and sensual, adding tension to the story, and there are a few editing errors, but overall, this tale is about getting over the past and making second chances work.
A Lot Going On - And Yet It All Works. This turned out to be one of two romance novels I was reading at the same time, that release about a week apart, that both featured single dads and their only children. So that was interesting as far as my own reading went, but not overly relevant to what you, the reader of my review, want to know about. :D
Here, Snow packs quite a bit into a fairly Hallmarkie romance. Which as I've noted before, there is a *massive* market for, so I totally get why she went this particular route. (Particularly when given her other creative outlets such as her satirical Housewife Chronicles books and her *dark* alter-ego JM Winchester.) We get a female coder - more common than some might have you believe, but still accurately portrayed both in real life and in this text as a male dominated field. We get an overbearing boss - which happens at all levels of coding, from the small companies our female lead works for here to the biggest companies on the planet. (I happen to currently work for a Forbes 50 company in the tech field, though to be honest my bosses are quite awesome here. :D) We get a tween girl whose dad doesn't fully understand her, who wants to do one thing - in this case, write code - and yet whose dad is pushing her to more "typical" activities. We get the small town businessman dad whose business is struggling and who has many issues of his own, both from being a former NFL star and from having his wife die several years prior to the events here. We even get a hint of a long-ago romance and long-lost love via another side story. And we get the classic Hallmarkie former high school frenemy who shows up again... and may not be all that is remembered or presented. So like I said, a LOT going on, particularly for a 300 ish page book.
And yet, in classic Hallmarkie/ Snow style, it really does all work. It is (mostly) pretty damn realistic, despite what a few other reviewers claim, including several messy moments. It hits all the notes that any romance reader will want to see, yes, including a few sex scenes - oral (both ways) and full penetration - and the requisite-for-the-genre happy ending.
A truly excellent tale and a fine way to pass some time sitting in the shade or on a lounger whiling the summer away. Very much recommended.
