I've become addicted to another author writing stories around alpha males and their equally worthy women, crossover characters from another of my favorite authors......so many to read and so less time!!!!!

Nicole Flockton is a fairly new author for me that I'm enjoying. Who would have thought a routine run to a grocery store would bring Knox Porter and Penni Stewart together in the middle of a hostage situation, But then, stranger things have known to happen, and thus starts their journey of friendship, sparks, love and add in the danger that is the extension of the hostage incident, you get a great read. And if you get to hear from Tex, that is icing on the cake!

A great read, and a great series so far.

Penni is in the wrong place at the wrong time, and Knox/Fort steps in to save her. She slips away, and it takes him a minute to find her and talk her into a relationship. The danger follows her and Knox is there again to save her. Lots of drama, action and sexy times. There are more team members to get HEAs.

I adore Susan Stoker - and I picked this up as a spin off one of her many series. It is a really good book - but not amazing. It has a lot of the same qualities of those books - strong alpha hero, strong team and family bonds, and some insta-love between the hero and heroine. That being said, I didn't feel the connection between Penni and Knox the way I maybe wanted to.

Penni and Knox meet when the convenience store they are in is robbed at gunpoint. Both Penni and Knox play a big role in stopping the robbery - and feel a strong connection to each other. They are definitely cute together, but a couple of things that threw me with this book - Knox tracks Penni down via his friend Tex. It is kind of creepy and stalkery - when I feel like maybe he could have just texted her after getting that same information? I also felt like the plot against Penni didn't work especially well.

Ultimately - I am having a hard time trying to distinguish why this book did not work for me as well as others in this genre - but it is a quick read - with a lot of good old fashioned alpha male romance!

I received this as an ARC from NetGalley, but these opinions are all my own.

Exciting from the start. Penni is held hostage by a mad man in the local convivence store (picking my cream for her coffee). She is ready to attempt to rescue herself due to having had self defense classes in the past. She sees a man moving closer while accessing the situation - could he be a military person? is he going to try to rescue her? ... these are some of the questions circling in her heard - just before she is saved from her attacker.

She is grateful to the navy seal for rescuing her from the crazy man....little does she know that he will be the love of her life and that he will need to rescue several times from a drug cartel boss.

Very enjoyable book - I will look for more titles by this author.

I was not expecting this one to be part of Susan Stoker’s World! I love her stories so I am very happy I stumbled onto this author’s story. Now I need to go back and read book one in this series (this one read fine as a standalone).

These two meet at what appears to be a hostage situation at a gas station. One thing leads to another and Fort is asking TEX for her contact information. Eek!!! Love Tex!
I really enjoyed this one. And yes, it’s ends with a happily ever after.

Penni is a public relations expert to the stars. While going home, she stops at a convenience store and is taken hostage. Knox is a Navy SEAL and is in the convenience store when it’s being robbed. He helps rescue Penni and he becomes very protective of her. He lets the cops take her home and regrets it. One night he is waiting by her car when she leaves work. The attraction is still very powerful between them and they go out to dinner. Then Penni’s apartment building burns down and they believe that hold up was not all it seems. When Penni is taken, Knox and his team rush to the rescue.

If you are a fan of Susan Stokers military men, then you’ll love this one. Nicole writes using some of Susan’s characters and you might recognize a couple of people. Action and sex. Suspense will keep you on your toes.

SAVING PENNI is the second instalment in Nicole Flockton’s contemporary, adult SEAL Team Tango erotic, military romantic suspense series focusing on the secondary characters introduced by author Susan Stoker in her numerous series and story lines. This is US Navy SEAL Knox ‘Fort’ Porter, and PR agent Penni Stewart’s story line. SAVING PENNI can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Penni and Knox) SAVING PENNI follows in the aftermath of holdup at a local convenience store. Penni Stewart found herself in the middle of a potential holdup expecting her life to end any moment but for the rescue and take down by a complete stranger. Enter US Navy SEAL Knox ‘Fort’ Porter, the man with whom Penni would fall in love. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Penni and Knox, and the potential fall-out as the repercussions of that fateful day are about to place Penni in the direct line of fire.

Knox Porter knew something was different about the ‘holdup’ and possible ‘robbery’ at the local store but all evidence pointed to something different until Penni found herself the target of the local cartel. Hoping to protect the woman with whom he was falling in love, Knox pulled Penni into the world of the SEALs but Knox’s latest mission out of the country left Penni vulnerable to attack. As Knox struggled to in the face of losing the woman that called to his heart, all bets are off when it comes to professing his love and a happily ever after.

The relationship between Penni and Knox begins in the wake of Penni’s momentary fear of being held hostage but something about that day didn’t sit well with our story line hero, and in this he knows that to protect Penni he is going to have to move her into his house, and into his life. Penni Stewart’s life is spiralling out of control: from a client’s diva attitude to the Mexican drug cartel aiming its’ sights on our story line heroine, Penni struggles with issues of trust, including the man with whom she is falling in love. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

We are introduced to Penni’s roommate and best friend Angela, and reality star Symove Whittaker, as well as the reintroduction of Knox’s team of Navy SEALs: Leighton ‘Bird’ Nelder and his wife Imogene; Holden ‘Silver’ Murchison; IT specialist Tex; Robert ‘Hank’ Zadock; Rocket Cricket, Bird and former Delta Ops Ox. The camaraderie between teammates is friendly yet professional, fun yet powerful. Silver and Angela’s story is next.

SAVING PENNI is a fast paced story of friendships and relationships, power and betrayal, love and understanding. The character driven premise is exciting and entertaining; the romance is edgy and spicy; the characters are inspiring, colorful and real. SAVING PENNI is my first Nicole Flockton story but it won’t be my last.

Saving Penni is the second book in the Seal Team Tango series but was fine reading as a stand-alone. This was a new-to-me author and I found it to be interesting and full of intrigue. The characters were likable and had dimensions.
Fort “Knox” Porter, a Navy SEAL, never expected he would need to save someone from a gunman in a convenience store or become intrigued on the reason behind the holdup. He knew that asking her to dinner afterward was not a good idea, but he could not get Penni out of his mind. His team is looking into the holdup and discover a plot that puts Penni’s life at risk. Penni Stewart never expected to have a gun shoved into her side in a convenience store while picking up half-and-half. After that terrible night, she just wanted to forget all about it but unfortunately, she has come to the attention of the conspirators.
This a great book but I do wish it were longer and we could have seen more of Knox and Penni’s interactions. It was fast-paced with lots of action, twists and turns, and hot alpha-ness. I enjoyed meeting all of Knox’s team members and cannot wait to see them in future books. I especially loved how intriguing Tex was and would love to see his story.
I received an ARC and am willingly leaving a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

It may have been chance that brought Penni and Knox into the same store at the same time but there must have been a bigger plan as he was there when she needed someone the most. After the excitement of the experience they went their separate ways but she is about to find out that it is their beginning and not the end.

Knox never thought he would have to put his Navy SEAL training to use to get Penni out of a dangerous situation but the one thing he does know is that he wants to see her again. As they spend time together the feelings between them escalate however they are about to find out that the danger of that day is far from over and there is nothing that Knox won’t do to keep her safe.

Knox and Penni take us on quite the adventure as although they may have brought together under the most unlikely of circumstances there is no denying they are meant to be together.

Saving Penni is my first read from Nicole Flockton and it was go go go from the start.

To say Knox and Penni's initial meeting was intense is an understatement. It was dangerous and nearly deadly. Though shy, Penni's bravery and backbone showed during that encounter and Knox couldn't get her out of his head.

I loved how the big bad SEAL showed his softer side where she was concerned. How he showed her he cared with his words and actions. Especially as they realized that even though the day at the convenience store was over, the threat to Penni wasn't.

Knox and Penni's whirlwind romance was pulse pounding but also laced with tender moments. They fell hard and fast despite all the chaos that was surrounding them. And the set up for the next book in the series...oh yes! I am ready!

This was the first book I have read by this author, and honestly, I had a difficult time getting though it. First, the editing was sloppy at best. I found many errors throughout--which is disappointing. But errors and typos aside, I just could not accept the stilted dialogue and the plot in general. There were many instances where I rolled my eyes or had to try extra hard to imagine someone reacting or saying what was said.

And, I really did try to get into the plot and characters; I mean who doesn't like a sexy, protective Navy SEAL? But unfortunately, from the start, I couldn't buy into the idea that Fort would suspect something beyond a simple robbery.

I will try this author again, as so many others seem to enjoy her books. I will just say that this book was not for me.

This is book 2 in the SEAL Team Tango series and it can absolutely be read as a stand alone. Knox “Fort” Porter never thought a trip to a convenience store would change his life, but that is what happens when he saves the life of a woman being held by a robber. Usually this would all be in a day's work for him, but something about this woman gets to him. He knows he can't just hit on a woman who was being held at gunpoint, but he regrets it when he lets her walk away. Penni Stewart is a PR expert whose life seems like a blur. But she never expected to have a gun jammed into her side or to be saved by a SEAL. She doesn't expect to see him again. Until he shows up outside her apartment waiting for her. Their attraction to each other is intense. But danger is still out there for Penni. Now Fort and his team have to keep her safe or he will lose everything.

I really liked this story. Fort is definitely the alpha, protective military man that we all love. But he also comes across as a little creepy at one point-which is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. I wasn't really a fan of that part of the story. It was just..weird and creepy. Penni cracked me up with some of the things she said. She definitely wasn't afraid to speak her mind, but she also didn't seem to have a filter. And I liked that about her. I was slightly iffy about Fort's teammates. Well one in particular. I didn't like the comments he made, although I am hoping that is just something to lead into his own story. On a whole, it was a good read. I would say a solid 4 stars and I will definitely be reading more by this author!

This book was non-stop action and a fun ride!! The characters were well developed and it was well written. I thought the author did an excellent job of creating great sexual tension between Penni and Knox. I read this book straight through unable to stop! I’m a big Nicole Flockton fan and can’t wait for more! Thanks to Netgalley for allowing me to read and review this book.

Saving Penni was fast moving read from start to finish. Fort and Penni are caught in a convenience store robbery gone wrong. As a Navy SEAL, Fort is able to save Penni from the gun wielding madman. All is well for a little while, but then Penni's life is in danger. Can Fort and his team save Penni in time? Read this book to find out!

I loved Penni and Fort's story. As the second book in the series, it gave me just enough of a glimpse of Bird and Imogene to be happy. I also loved the fact that we visit with Tex and some other favorites from Susan Stoker's books.

Penni Stewart never dreamt that her visit to a convenience store would involve being held at gunpoint, but today it did. When Navy SEAL Fort “aka Knox” Porter sees her being held at gunpoint, he knows he must act fast. As she was ready to try to escape her captors’ grasp, a man suddenly disarms him. Knox witnessed Penni’s determination to try to save herself and knows that he must see her again. Wondering if there was more to this hold up at the store, they had no idea how this one event would take over their lives. As the attraction between Knox and Penni flares out of control, they and his team will delve into what was really behind the attempted robbery. When Knox realizes that Penni is in danger, he moves her into his home, but will she be safe when he and his team leave the country on their mission? Adventure, suspense and of course hot romance made this a truly enjoyable read. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)

Saving Penni is the second book in Nicole Flockton's SEAL Team Tango series, and although I've not yet read the first book in the series, the author had me at SEAL, and I certainly never felt lost for having not read the previous novel. Saving Penni was a good, quick and easy read, but it did have flaws, which I'll get to, and which are the reason for my 3-star rating.

The heroine, Penni Stewart, works as the PR person for a television reality show, attached to its spoiled and troublesome star, and while she loves her job, it's exhausting. One day, on her way home, she stops at a convenience store, gets an erotic thrill when she accidently touches the hand of a handsome navy SEAL, and in a matter of seconds, she becomes an at-gunpoint hostage in what at first appears to be a robbery, but when the cashier offers the felon money, he doesn't want it, which strikes the SEAL, Fort "Knox," as odd. He manages to subdue the man and save Penni, but questions remain. He gives her his cell phone number but doesn't ask for hers, and when he doesn't hear from her after a week, uses "Tex," a familiar computer whiz/hacker who is a regular character in Sharon Hamilton's excellent SEAL series, to find her. He felt the same spark when he touched Penni, that she felt when he touched her, and he's concerned about her well-being after such a traumatic event.

Although his behavior is a tad stalker-ish, he really just wants to see that Penni is all right, and so he waits outside her apartment building until she gets home. Clearly the two are attracted to one another--what woman wouldn't be attracted to the handsome SEAL who saved her life? What I found troublesome is his persistence, and the insta-lust, insta-love between these two total strangers--it's a pet peeve of mine in romance novels. Another was the fact that Knox almost immediately refers to her as Penni Lane, kind of cute, but after that he never simply refers to her by her given name. Penni, while often using his SEAL nickname, Knox, also refers to him as Aquaman and Jason Momoa, but still also manages to call him Fort, his given name, and Knox. The whole Penni Lane thing seemed just too contrived for this reader, and will probably stump younger readers who didn't grow up loving The Beatles.

As things turn out, Knox was right about the hostage situation being somehow off. He soon learns that the 20-something perp was found dead in his cell of an apparent heart attack, and the convenience store clerk's dead body soon washes ashore at a nearby beach. At the same time, Penni discovers an odd thumb drive in her purse, has no idea where she got it, freaks out when she finally watches it, and immediately races to show it to Knox. At this point the danger and suspense really ratchet up, just as Knox and his SEAL team are about to be deployed, and the tension doesn't let up until the end of the novel.

While the novel was entertaining, exciting, and a tad steamy, what it really lacked was any attempt at character development. We know nothing of Penni's background other than her job title, and the same is true of Knox, nor do these two characters really learn anything about each other. As a reader, I simply wanted more--more background info on the main characters, more than two dates between them before they end up in bed, more communication between them too. This could have been a much better novel than it was, and I'm hoping the author takes that into consideration in upcoming novels in this series.

I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this novels. The opinions expressed are my own.

Edge-of-your-seat action with a beautifully tender romance

Knox is in the right place at the right time to save Penni from a convenience store robbery gone wrong. However, as he and his SEAL team learn more about the gunman, they realize that Penni is still very much in danger.

I really enjoyed the characters in this story. Knox is everything a SEAL team leader and romantic hero should be, and his slow journey to realizing his heart has been stolen by Penni was very well done. Penni is strong and independent, but when her life starts exploding around her she knows she has to rely on Knox if she wants to make it out alive.

Their romance was sweet and steamy and I enjoyed every bit of it. Their HEA is followed by hints about the next couple in this series and I'm very much looking forward to reading it. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Well I have read this book in one afternoon! It's the second book in the series, but you can read it without any problem even if you didn't read the first one. It starts with an hostage rescue situation and it continues with a lovely romance, intrigue and action - what would you expect from Navy SEALs after all?

Saving Penni (Seal Team Tango, Book 2) by Nicole Flockton
Publisher: Aces Press
Genre: General Fiction (Adult) | Romance
Publication Date: May 11, 2021

Saving Penni is the second book in the Seal Team Tango series by Nicole Flockton. I hadn't read the previous book (but I will be very soon, like probably tomorrow!) but was easily able to read this as a standalone romance novel. This book is set in the world created by Susan Stoker and included some of her characters (I have her books on my TBR list too!)

I don't even know where to start! This book was so good! I read it in under 4 hours because I couldn't stop reading it! Like, I'm not even sure I ate dinner because I was so captivated by this book!

The story was incredible, fast paced and exciting! I loved the characters and their flirtation and their off the charts steamy romance! I loved getting to meet some of the SEALS and can't wait to learn more about them! This book has it all: a story that keeps you on the edge of your seat, captivates you from page one, unexpected twists and turns, amazing chemistry, and lots of moments that make you feel things. I actually was smirking to myself and laughed out loud!

I can't wait to read the other books in the series. Book 3 should be released in 2022! In the mean time, I'll have to entertain myself with the author's other books! Highly recommend this one! Who wouldn't love reading about hot SEALS?!?

I'm so grateful to Nicole Flockton, the publisher, and NetGalley for providing me with a free copy of this ARC ebook in exchange for my honest review.

Saving Penni, by Nicole Flockton, is a fun and fast read that is perfect for devouring poolside. As I understand it from the foreword, this novel (series, actually) is a fan-fiction project based on writer Susan Stoker's prolific [Insert gerund] [Insert woman's name] series; Stoker herself wrote said foreword and a few of her characters have cameos. But the work here is all Flockton.

Penni and Knox meet at a convenience store, unfortunately during a robbery and hostage situation, Penni being the hostage. After Knox saves the day, he returns to his SEAL team and she to her PR career. Knox regrets not getting Penni's digits and uses SEAL powers to track her down, which is not stalkerish at ALL (okay, a little bit). Penni decides to give him the benefit of the doubt, and their relationship skyrockets from there.

Meanwhile, the convenience store robbery was not as simple as it seemed, and Penni's life is again threatened. Will Knox lose the woman of his dreams just as he finds her? Of course not; it's called Saving Penni. The story is more about the Knox being head over heels for Penni and her feeling the same way, if a little more cautiously.

In his pursuit of Penni (especially when he waits for her in the dark), Knox crosses the line into a little creepy a few times, and I can't help but wonder if Penni would have forgiven him if he were a normal guy and not a hunky SEAL. Penni, though, is no shrinking violet. She is as strong as she is sweet, and I found myself thinking that she does as much saving as Knox.

The story moves quickly, though I wish Flockton spent more time on the lingering threat to Penni than in their burgeoning relationship (it feels like "it's only been two dates" is oft repeated). i.e, I'd like a little more emphasis on the suspense part of "romantic suspense." When we finally get there, the issue resolves a little too neatly for my taste.

Regardless, I am definitely looking forward to more in the series. It seems like Angela (Penni's BFF) and Knox's teammate Silver's story is next up!

I received an ARC of this book from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion. Thanks!
