This biography of Andy Warhol is a nice starting location. It doesn’t get into the craziness of his life, but it gives a nice solid ground to look into more things about the artist. There’s a note in a page about him being confined to bed for a leg weakness, but they never mention why, which I think would’ve been interesting. And once again, I think the pictures in the end should be full color.

Like other books in this series, it is a fun little introduction to inspiring people. Definitely a great way to introduce kids to biographies and a nice read for adults too. I would recommend all the books in this series.

In the latest Little People Big Dreams series by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara, we are introduced to the life of Andy Warhol, who is remembered as the artist who found beauty in every day objects.

This biography, geared toward children, teaches about the life of Warhol through a series of highlights about his life. He was a shy child who grew up to be a famous and influential pop artist.

I think young children will enjoy this book. It's full of colorful illustrations and shows that shy children can grow up to be successful and admired.

“Today, he is remembered as the artist who found beauty in everyday objects.”

Born in 1928 in Pitsbugh, PA, USA, Andrew Warhola was a very shy boy who always loved to draw but wouldn’t even show his work to his family.

My Goodreads review includes an illustration with the caption:
“Little Andy was the tiniest and palest child of the Warholas, a humble couple from Slovakia.”

No matter where he went, church or sports, it was his sketchbook that he always took with him. He knew what he wanted to do. But then he became ill, and his legs began shaking, so he spent months in bed. What did he do? He cut pictures of Hollywood stars from magazines and made collages.

Later, when he was in an art club, he felt invisible. But his talent shone through.

My Goodreads review includes an illustration with the caption:
“Still, when it was time to work, he made himself noticed. By the time the rest of the students had finished just one picture, he had put together a whole pile!”

He won a prize at a college exhibition, and when he went to New York, he had an illustration published, but the fancy magazine misspelled his name, dropping off the last A. Hence, Warhol!

He became known for drawing sunglasses, shoes, and make-up for “the best magazine in town.” But what he liked best, was to draw his favourite soup cans.

My Goodreads review includes an illustration with the caption:
“Instead of creating just one painting—like most artists did—Andy decided to make 32 pictures of 32 soup cans. Each of them was a different flavor, but they all looked so much alike. It was hard to tell them apart!”

This is what most of us probably recognise, and it became the art known as

POP Art!

As with all of the books in this series, there is a page of text of biography with four black-and-white photos. These are two that you might recognise.

Art was the force that drew this extremely shy, extremely talented boy into the public eye, and I’m not sure art has ever been the same since!

This is a terrific series for children (and the grown-ups who help them read) to learn how little kids can eventually realise their dreams.

Thanks to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing’s Frances Lincoln Children’s Books for the copy from which I’ve copied a few illustrations.

As always I loved this 'little people, big dreams' book. This one was extra interesting to me because all I previously knew about Andy warhol was that he did the pop art portraits. I enjoyed learning more about his life, and I have a new appreciation for his art.

Free ARC from NetGalley.

This is a book in the Little People, Big Dreams series. In this book children gets to meet the American artist Andy Warhol, the man behind PopArt.

As all these books its nicely illustrated with lots of colors. And the life of the artist is presented in an easy and short story. I actually learned several new things about this artist, which was fun.

I hope children will find these books as good as I do!

Needless to say that I love the Little People Big Dreams collection and I am always excited when I get my hands on a new book. Each book is so different from one another, but I am still curious to know what approach they take with each person.

And I think Andy Warhol is a bit of miss for me - I felt like the art style was not really characteristic for the character and the story was fragmented and short. I did not get to know that much about Warhol from this little book and I am not exactly sure what the little ones will be left with.

'Andy Warhol' with words by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara and illustrations by Timothy Hunt is a biography in the Little People BIG DREAMS series for younger readers.

Andy Warhola was the smallest child in his family living in Pittsburgh. His childhood was filled with church, baseball and especially drawing. When he won an art award and a publisher dropped the last letter of his last name, it became the one we know him by.

The illustrations and colors pop in this one. The story was interesting and I learned a few things about this great artist.

Born to a couple from Slovakia, Andy Warhol spent most of his day drawing.
He won prizes and published his drawings in famous magazines.
Being a leading figure of pop Art, he made beautiful drawings of common objects, and was able to see beauty in everyday life.

This book is an illustrated memoir of the very famous artist

I love this series, Little People, Big Dreams. I did not know Andy Warhol had an illness that kept him bedridden as a child. This starts his love of celebrities since he reads magazines and makes collèges. When he becomes an adult he leaves for NYC, and is especially interested in art using everyday objects. His most famous was the Campbell Soup Picture. A debate started whether this was art, and he was the leader of what came to be known as Pop Art.

This is another example for children of a child he was born shy, sick, and different who goes on to live an extraordinary life. This book belongs in all schools and libraries, so that children are aware of all the differences amoung people and that can lead to a wonderful life.

Thank you NetGalley, Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara, and Frances Lincoln Children’s Books for an ARC of this book. As always, I loved this book from the series and highly recommend it.

I did not know much about Andy Warhol besides that fact that he was a well-known and famous artist and to be honest, I don't know much more after finishing this book. I really enjoy this series, especially as I usually always learn something about the person being featured, as well, I usually want to do my own research and learn more, but this one did not pull at me the same way. I learned that Andy was a very small child and was extremely shy. He has a serious illness that had him bedridden for quite some time where he developed the interest in magazines and fashion. He used his art to make ordinary things become art, which is not my idea of art, but that is okay. Otherwise, I found this one a bit dry and simple. Timothy Hunt illustrated this one and I enjoyed his quirky illustrations. I know they always entertain my grandson when I read these books to them. There is a timeline at the back with a bit more information.

Andy Warhol by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara is another addition to the Little People, Big Dreams series by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara. I enjoyed this story but not quite as much as some of the others as I didn't like Andy's true lifestyle that much. It was interesting to learn that his name was actually Andy Worhola. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my ARC.

This edition of Little People Big Dreams focused on pop art icon Andy Warhol. It was overall a colourful and interesting book for young readers about Warhol's life. The illustrations were very fitting for the pop art vibe with bright colours.

I feel like the message was lacking. From what I gathered, Warhol was a sickly child growing up who dreamed of becoming charming, rich and famous and it seems he thought that he would only be seen and heard as an individual when he accomplished that.

Not my favourite book in this children's series so I would only recommend this book if someone was a huge Andy Warhol fan. Thank you to NetGalley for the digital ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Why do I keep reading these. I find them off-putting. They either enrage me with omissions or bore me with lack of depth. This one bored me. It felt too breezy and rapidly told.

Andy Warhol by @mariaisabelsanchezvegara

Now we all know the famous Andy Warhol, the king of Pop-art. How a shy boy turned a man like these. The author beautifully explained illustrated work spoke louder than 200-300 pages book.

Art is for all of us. Never doubt in your creativity. Just like Andy turned explicit art out of ordinary thing... The can tomato soup and what.

It's a children book but we adults can also gain knowledge reading this so try this out. I loved it. I hope people out there also going to love it and those into pop culture or pop art or artsy.

This little extraordinary fun read made my night. Glad I requested and thankful they accepted.

Andy Warhola was not born as an active child, he preferred drawing instead of playing with his siblings. He had health problem, which gave him the opportunity to create more from his sickbed. Then he didn't stop creating arts.

Always a good book to read from the series, with a motivational ideas for kids of all talents and all colors, active or not, strong or not, that these people were little before, but kept pursuing their dreams and they become big names.

This picture book gives a quick and informative bio of Andy Warhol, giving tidbits of his childhood and impact on the art world. I wish there was a bit more about the art movement he inspired, by maybe including copies of his artwork for children to see. The illustrations encompassed the pop style of Warhol and were very eye-catching!

Time for another marvellous book in the Little People, BIG DREAMS series.

I do love a little extra learning in my picture books. This series is fabulous for teaching readers about famous people in about 32 pages. Colourful pictures, cartoons and illustrations help tell their tales.

This book's art is very simplistic. It's basic shapes and colours to tell Andy Warhol's story. I didn't know much about this creative soul, but I'm glad this book helped tell me a little bit more about this famous man. The story is empowering and eye opening. It's a great tale to tell.

I do think the illustration style for this one makes the quality feel cheap. I like when the pictures are more engaging. I'm assuming this was done on purpose for Andy Warhol's style - but I felt that it made the book feel very cheap. The art style really ruins this book for me.

Overall, good read for some educational vibes.

Two out of five stars.

We use there books loads for our home educating and it was brilliant to be able to delve more into the mind of Andy Warhol.
The girls and I were really inspired and spent the day researching him and his art more.
Fabulous.

As always with books in the Little People, Big Dreams children's series, I loved the illustrations and colors used throughout the biographical story. They're so rich and vibrant, and I feel like they really tried to capture the pop art essence that Andy Warhol, or Andy Warhola, was so well-known for. Although the story flew by, it only encouraged me to do my own digging and research bits and pieces of Andy's life and impact as an artist. I think this would be a great book for children, especially those who have an eye for creativity. I wish this series existed when I was a youngster!
