Twice as Hard is both a valuable business handbook and a really eye-opening account of multiple Black experiences in the workplace. I found it to be a fitting length to keep on hand as a reference, and the section on how to be an ally was particularly helpful.

The book reviews many known topics such as microaggressions, but also introduces and explains topics that were newer to me, and I came away feeling better educated about how I can make my own behavior in work and personal contexts more welcoming and understanding.

Note: I received a free ebook copy of Twice as Hard from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This book for me was an interesting exploration of Black identity in the professional world. Through interviews and advice from over 40 Black business leaders, creatives and entrepreneurs we learn how they navigated adversary and prejudice, and how they used it to forge their successful endeavors and careers.
This book does a great job of inspiring and educating through the stories of others. Great read.

I have read only some preview pages, and this is my impression based on those pages. I think this book does a good job of explaining the pressure Black people feel while in the workplace to "Work Twice As Hard" in an effort to be equal to their Non-Black peers. I enjoyed the insight from the different persons interviewed about the different types of workplaces to discover some commonalities across fields. I have to be honest the statistics and normalcy of this pressure is very sobering and alarming that the numbers haven't changed at all. I really enjoyed the reflection questions that were added at the end of the chapters to help the reader personalize and considered their own journey. I think this is a really good read for anyone who is pursuing entrepreneurship or a recent college graduate.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
