I loved everything about this book! From the characters to the story and everything in between. Emily Wibberley and Austin Siegemund-Broka have written a smart and touching novel about love, friendship, and the thin line between fiction and reality. I love how they intertwined past/present and paralleled the story within a story - brilliant!

Kat and Nathan are a dynamic duo - best friends and writing partners - they are each other's "person."
They've written two best selling books and are contracted to do a third, with one tiny little problem - they haven't spoken in three years. After completing their second book together, their friendship and working relationship came to a sudden head and resulted in an abrupt and painful ending of all contact. So much has changed over the course of their time apart both-professionally and personally - that when they reunite to fulfill their contract and complete the third and final book, things are "tense" to say the least.

While it may be awkward and uncomfortable for Nathan and Kat, it is a delicate slow burn for those of us reading their story. We're treated to a lovely dance of tension and tenderness. Push and pull. Snark and sweetness. As Nathan and Katrina work through their issues, they also work through the characters of their book. The symmetry between the two does not go unnoticed, but it's woven in so seamlessly that the recurring theme of "fiction or reality?" is felt in the main characters as much as it is in the characters they are writing. This book had major Emily Henry "Beach Read" feels to me (which is a compliment - I love that book!) There was a big emphasis on the art and skill of writing... insight into the dynamics that go into each draft of a story. Wibberley and Siegemund-Broka write a beautiful love story into a fictional book that felt incredibly real.

Thank you to Berkley Publishing Group and NetGalley for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

My heart. This was an absolute experience. I was absolutely gutted at times, my heart ripped out of my chest, and then, somehow, this beautifully written book shoved my heart back into me and filled it so full it might burst. This is a really special book. I feel like I'm floating and I finished it hours ago. Marvelous.
