I received a copy of The Springtime of My Life Began with You, volume 1, by Nikki Asada from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

This is the start of another manga that I will be adding to my list of manga to read and follow. I really like these charming and funny shoujo manga and I thought that this was a good start. There are a lot of mystery to the character of Takasago that I’m curious about - as of right now, I’m not sure I understand his intentions with Suehiro but I am definitely intrigued by his backstory and what may happen for the two main characters from here.

I liked this one! I liked the art style and found their relationship super cute even though at some points the guy(I'll never remember manga/anime character names) seemed a bit weird like he had an obsession with the protagonist but it wasn't THAT weird to make me dislike the manga

Okay, at first I reeeeaally didn't like Takasago hahah. He was SO pushy and forceful, BUT!! by the end you can tell he truly cares for Suehiro and that he's definitely got some past events that he still needs to talk through with somebody, and *hopefully* that somebody will be the adorable Suehiro (I love her, she's so heckin cute).

It also seems there may be a bit of a love triangle emerging? Which I'm always a bit hesitant about since I don't fancy the trope much, but maybe the author will do it really well? Who knows *shrugs*.
(also, Michiru Kotobuki, YOU DONT WRITE IN BOOKS SIR hahah, I FELT my eye twitch when I saw that scene, HOWEVER *theory time* I wonder if he's actually the author to Suehiro's favourite book? Would explain a lot!
Okay ramblings aside I'm really keen to continue reading this series.

Such a cute manga!!!! I can't wait for the next volume to find out what's going to happen!!! Just pick it up it's amazing!

I can’t resist a cute rom-com read <3 And I’m so happy I got to read this one! This definitely gave me my fix. And I can now happily add this in my favourites list.
This book was sooo addicting! I just couldn’t put it down.

This book had great character development.
For me, my heart goes out to the main character. I love the main character so much. I adore Suehiro (the main character) so much! She is just so relatable. She is a shy and quiet girl. And prefers the company “of her books to the real-life anxieties of friends”. And in this first volume, I enjoyed seeing her grow as an individual and fighting for what she loves...and I just thought it was so cute that Takasago was right there for her. Takasago is the “ultra-popular guy”. Him and Suehiro are the complete opposites! But seeing them interact and connect made me fangirl and squeal! I can see that there is a deeper side to Takasago and I’m happy Suehiro is bringing it out of him. I can tell there is so much more to come and I’m all for it.

The cliffhanger ending has me excited for the second! (which I WILL DEFINITELY BE CHECKING OUT)

I feel I'm about 10 years to old to be in the demographic for this manga. As I've been out of High School for a long time now.
This made my heart swoon as a person who hid behind books, and did my best to be invisible in High School. Reading this is super sweet.

Takasago is slightly overbearing but it seems to be coming from a good place.

"If 100 people read the same book, each of them will have a different impression of it"

If you don't mind / enjoy sickeningly sweet love stories, this is for you.

Suehiro is a an extreme shy girl, a wallflower who prefers to hide behind her favorite books than to socialize with her classmates unlike the popular Takasago who is the coolest guy of her class and for a Batsu Game, a kind of a penality game, he asks her to go out with him in front of all their classmates, poor Suehiro is completely embarrassed and lost about how to deal with such a situation and so much attention but as much as she tries to get rid of Takasago, he keeps following her and he seems serious about his demand. Is he?!

I liked it and I want to know what will happen to this two characters in the coming volumes. It was cute and funny and the story looks interesting with books and a mysterious author.

The Springtime of My Life Began With You, Volume 1 is an adorable high school romantic comedy. The main character Suehiro is a shy girl who is overlooked and bullied by her classmates. One day, Takasago, one of the most popular guys in school, accepts a dare and asks her to go on a date with her. She's mortified because she knows that he only did it on a dare, and she knows he's not serious. But is Takasago actually serious about going on a date with her? Why would a popular guy like him choose a quiet bookworm like her?

This manga was super sweet and reminded me of other first-love manga stories. All of the typical shojo romance tropes are here: the popular, handsome boy and the quiet, blushing girl. In addition, after the first chapter, a new subplot develops: the two main characters decide to start a literary club to discuss literature, and they face challenges along the way. Overall, The Springtime of My Life Began With You is a wonderfully sweet love story, and I highly recommend it for all readers who enjoy romantic comedies. If you're intrigued by the description above, you won't regret checking out this manga when it comes out next week!

How do you ask a girl out? Just keep bullying her until she has no choice, but to say yes.

Then just boss her around, make her the focus of school gossip, and not respect her decisions.

Sorry, this guy is a walking red flag for me. Everything about his personality just irritated me, and although our main character is a reserved bookworm, that doesn’t give you the right to force her out of her comfort zone. She’s an introvert. That doesn’t mean she needs someone to force her out of her shell. He just kept annoying me with how he forced her to go with his flow. Maybe I related to the main character too much, I’m an introvert bookworm too, and I would not appreciate a guy doing this to me, and for it to be romantic. Just don’t.

I also smell a love triangle coming, and I’m hoping the main character dumps the main guy for him. They had more chemistry in those two scenes together than she had with the actual love interest.

Suehiro is the class loner. She's shy and introverted, and she spends all of her time in class hiding behind her favorite book, three-quarters hoping not to be noticed, and a quarter wishing someone would. The someone who does, much to her horror, is popular boy Takasago, and even worse, he seems to be doing so because of a punishment game requiring him to ask someone out. It's terrifying and humiliating, and...wait, is he maybe using that as an excuse and actually does want to date her?

Nikki Asada has had a remarkable streak of titles released in English and each one of them is just different enough to make it worth trying. <i>The Springtime of My Life Began with You</i> is the most serious thus far. Suehiro and Takasago both have very real scars and issues that they're not entirely comfortable about and they both also seem to be finding out that they may truly enjoy being with each other, no matter what the rest of the class (or school) thinks about it. There's talk of bullying (that none of the students understand), Takasago definitely gets too possessive of Suehiro, and a very real sense that maybe this book remembers what it was like to be in high school in a way that's a little more grounded than most. Even if you have a patchy history with Asada, I think this is worth giving a chance.

Probably more of a 3.5, but large swathes of this book hit me where I lived back in school.

The Springtime of My Life began with you is a cute romance high school manga and follows the introverted Suehiro, who is always hiding behind a book, and popular guy of the school Takasago. This manga does have the typical theme of popular guy/ shy not popular girl however I love reading this troupe and always enjoy it. Their relationship in this volume is still pretty new however you can already see their cute reactions to each other and feelings for each other beginning to blossom. I really like that although Takasago started going out with her for a dare, and ended up staying because he felt bad, he is genuinely getting to know her and to help her come out of her shell.

Overall this was a sweet wholesome read and I’ll be excited to read the next volume. Thank you to Netgalley and Kodansha Comics for the E-ARC.

I love reading mangas./graphic novels.. and this was such a fun read !!!! Shiro is a total bookworm and she is shy but takasago approaches her and then they date , it was so cute . I can relate with shiro with the love for books and takasago with his behaviour . They r such a cute match and takasago treats her so well and he is so sweet , just swoon-worthy !!I loved reading this , cant wait for the second volume . I would totally recommend it and it was definitely a 5 star read !

The Springtime of My Life Began with You is a lighthearted romantic manga in a high school setup. I was looking for a fast and cute read, and this one was fit like a glove.

The story followed Suehiro, an introverted girl who loved to read, and Takasago, the most popular guy in class. When Takasago lost in a game, he was dared to ask Suehiro to go out with him, but to everyone's surprised, she declined. For some reason, Takasago insisted on asking Suehiro out by showing how sincere he was. Because of this, they started to get close to each other, and eventually, their relationship bloomed.

The story itself was not very original, since the trope popular guy x introverted girl was common in shojo mangas. Nevertheless, I still enjoyed this kind of trope. The storyline was adorable, and I liked the chemistry and dynamic of the two main protagonist. What I really liked about this story was how it showed the characters helping each other to grow. Suehiro was a timid girl and did not have any friends, and through Takasago's effort, she slowly came out of her shell. On the otherhand, Suehiro gave calm and comfort to Takasago.

The only thing that wasn't clear for me was why Takasago chose to ask Suehiro out among many other girls from her class. Was it just a coincidence or by chance? Or maybe he already saw her and felt attraction to her? I guess I'll have to read the second volume to find out.

Overall, if you like opposite attract tropes, The Springtime of My Life Began with You was a perfect read. It has an adorable storyline, and the art style was absolutely beautiful.

I have typically been reserving reviews for entire manga serializations, however, in this case, this review is about the first volume of a new series. Takasago, the most popular boy in class, asks Suehiro, a timid, bookish girl, out in a dare, but feeling bad about it, he actually starts hanging out with her. The trope of popular guy + introverted girl is not new, but the execution so far is adorable. Fortunately, in spite of the dare initiating the whole story, and Takasago's friends not understanding his friendship with Suehiro, the story does not seem to be headed into a bullying direction., and instead, features one of my favorite elements - characters that help each other grow. Takasago pushes Suehiro out of her comfort zone, and Suehiro is providing Takasago a safe space to tackle his own challenges. Suehiro is particularly fond of a book by an up and coming mysterious new writer, and had her heart set on joining the literary club until the club disappeared due to lack of members, so the literary theme also appeals to me. I am curious to see where this story heads to!

Suehiro is a timid girl, one who feels more at ease with books than her classmates. However, her world changes when Takasago asks her out. Suehiro knows he is not serious about it. That is, at first.

Takasago is the most popular boy in school. He needs to ask someone out because of a punishment game. Takasago shocks all his friends and admirers by choosing Suehiro. However, the girl-in-question is not thrilled by his attention.

Sure, Takasago’s intentions were not earnest at first. Yet, that all changed once he got to know Suehiro. I like how he tries to help her overcome her acute shyness. He does not care what his relationship with her costs him with his admirers and friends. Though, to call those people friends feels like a stretch.

Suehiro is not the only one getting something out of this relationship. She introduces him to the wonder of books. Plus, she pushed past her comfort zone to stand up for him. Something that seems painfully obvious does not happen too often.

I adore these types of stories! The mismatch, opposites attract, popular boy notices the average girl tropes.
I will definitely be adding this manga to my collection.

This story was very adorable in a classic shoujo-romance way. I'm looking forward to continuing the series. There were a few things that moved really fast, but it makes sense since you want to catch the readers attention in the first volume, to make sure you can even publish the next one.

The Springtime of My Life Began with You is the perfect romance graphic novel if that's what you have been looking for.

I really wanted to read a cutesy romance graphic novel and this fit the bill. Suehiro is a shy book lover who is slightly afraid to take risks. Takasago is the most popular boy in their class. Takasago is dared to ask Suehiro out but falls for her eccentric behavior. As he tries to convince her that he actually likes her, they also start a literary club together which was always Suehiro's dreams.

But things are not always that simple, especially with Yachiyo joining the club as it's first member.

I found the novel to be just the perfect amount of cute. Suehiro and Takasago are just perfect together, their personalities blending in together. I liked that Suehiro is concerned with what others say but doesn't let it get it to her head too much.

The illustrations are so good and the full page spreads are eye-catching. I can't wait to read the second volume.

Suehiro is a shy friendless girl with anxiety that loves to read and Takasago is a popular boy who is liked by everyone. Takasago gets peer-pressured into asking Suehiro out in front of the class, her knowing this, she declines, but to everyone's surprise, he persists. That spring interaction changes their relationship completely and you get to watch their romance bloom.

This is such a cute, romantic, light-hearted and fun read! The art was really pretty and the storyline was super enjoyable, I read this in one sitting! Suehiro reminded me of myself in high school, anxious with abandonment issues and Takasago was so charming and misunderstood. I loved that even though Suehiro was an anxious bookworm, she isn't a complete push-over, she still stands up for herself the best she can and it made me just love her.

The romance had a rough start, but I quickly fell in love with Takasago, and everything he said made me swoon. There is something just so romantic about a love interest being dedicated to helping the protagonist grow and make their dreams come true! I was just obsessed, and audibly screamed at some of the things he did! I will totally be checking out the rest of the volumes and am super curious about how the rest of the characters play a bigger role in the story.
