I absolutely love Pandora Sykes. This is a witty, humorous and thought provoking book of essays. Written about life from a female perspective. If you are. Fab of the high low podcast you will love this

I’ve never read a book of essays before and I loved the format of this book. There were sections on everything I’ve known growing up from fashion to cancel culture to binge watching TV. It actually felt quite nostalgic at times especially when Pandora referred to specific events that I’d been to over the years including the Selfie to Self Expression exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery.

There are also deeper topics covered such as traditional male and female roles & the pursuit of your authentic self.

This title is a brilliant collaboration and exploration of the old and new (think Carol Ann Duffy vs mobile phones) There’s mentions of that Dolly Parton meme, WhatsApp exhaustion and how you don’t escape bad media by avoiding Twitter.

Loved the essays but I have to say the acknowledgements for me just made the book complete!

There is nothing new to this information but it is presented in a thought provoking way. As the author states all the things we are told are aimed at educated, middle class women. Despite us being in control of our happiness, women tend to doubt and judge themselves harshly. You will either love or hate this book.
