Really fun contemporary romance, with a strong female character who has excellent friends and family. For those seeking a main character who isn't just making a string of terrible choices, but feels very real and relatable.

After building a successful personal training gym in L.A., Gabe is preparing to open a new gym in New York City, though he's a bit hesitant to return to his hometown after an awkward split from his family years earlier. Complicating matters is the fact that Gabe's business partner has hired a NYC-based marketing guru named Michelle to handle branding and marketing the new gym...and it just so happens that she's the former best friend and longtime crush that Gabe left behind when he went to California. Can Gabe and Michelle manage their past and mend bridges with Gabe's family while still getting the new gym off the ground?

There's something satisfying about a second-chance romance, and this one certainly fits the bill. It's steamy and sexy, but also very real and funny, and I love the representation of Latinx culture. Daria keeps knocking it out of the park, and I LOVE IT!

A Lot Like Adios by Alexis Daria apparently is second in the Primas Of Power series according to goodreads. However, I am here to let you know you can read this book not having read the first and have an excellent time. A Lot Like Adios is a second chance romance that is quite spicy. It follows Michelle and Gabriel. The two have a past from their childhood/teenagehood in the Bronx. However, both grew up and Gabriel left for the opposite coast. Now, Gabriel owns a small chain of gyms and is planning for a New York expansion. So, he hires Michelle to run the PR for his launch. Sparks fly between the two.

I quite enjoyed my time with A Lot Like Adios. I walked into this book really having no expectations. Admittedly, I was surprised by all the spicy scenes. Eventually I learned to only listen to this while driving alone. There is also the theme of Michelle and Gabriel having written fanfiction for a show about Hispanic people in space that was cancelled too soon. This was an excellent element and added some fun. The couple is ambitious and also thoughtful about each other. Seraphine Valentine narrates A Lot Like Adios with style. The audiobook was fun to listen to - all 9 hours and 48 minutes of the story just fly by.

It was sweet and had some great romance and character chemistry

This book was such a fun companion to You Had Me At Hola. I had already fallen in love with the family featured in both, and it was so fun to see Michelle get her shot at love. Or second chance would be more apt! This story is about two best friends falling in love all over again, and it is sexy and funny and sweet. Fun to see a Puerto Rican/Italian family at its most involved, and to meet two fresh, lively characters. You won't want to miss this one!

Reading this book made me homesick, It made me miss my Saturday reunions at my grandma's house with my mom and my tia's, drinking coffee, eating pan dulce and spilling all the chisme. I could probably write an essay on why I loved this novel, but I will give you an annotated version.

- First of all, it is set in NYC, and who doesn't love a book set in New York?
- Childhood sweethearts get a second chance at love?! One of my favorite tropes.
- There are some well executed steamy scenes.
- Big families that are all up in your business making me miss home like crazy.
- The LGBTQ+ representation, not just from both main characters, but throughout their family as well.

It's dramatic, it's fun, it's sexy as hell. You'll giggle, you'll cry, honestly what more could from a book?!

Love a second-chance romance and the Primas of Power are such a joy with their fierce loyalty and tough love.

Michelle and Gabriel had been best friends for years, but when he left to find his own path in LA, he left her (and his whole family) behind to find his true self. Now, nine years later, chance and work have found them working together again. Their attraction is undeniable but when a chance encounter forces them into a fake relationship, the pressure seems to be too much. Will they be able to rekindle their friendship? Will their friendship bloom into something more?
This was STEAAAMMYY definitely an NSFW. I loved the BIPOC representation and LGBTQ+ representation from side characters to the MCs. Unfortunately, some of the dialogue felt off, and trying too hard. For example, having both MCs realize they were bi, felt like a throw-away byline by the author to reach a representation quota. However, I did enjoy the BFFs-to-lovers trope in this situation as time gave them the space to grow into themselves. There were instances where the writing was pointing out the obvious in terms of emotional turmoil, but overall, this was a fun read within the universe of the Primas of Power. 3.5 rounded to 4.

I enjoyed this book! I loved the representation in this book. If you are looking to experience another culture, pick up this book!

Hi Mich. It’s Gabe.

After burning out in her corporate marketing career, Michelle Amato has built a thriving freelance business as a graphic designer. So what if her love life is nonexistent? She’s perfectly fine being the black sheep of her marriage-obsessed Puerto Rican-Italian family. Besides, the only guy who ever made her want happily-ever-after disappeared thirteen years ago.

It’s been a long time.

Gabriel Aguilar left the Bronx at eighteen to escape his parents’ demanding expectations, but it also meant saying goodbye to Michelle, his best friend and longtime crush. Now, he’s the successful co-owner of LA’s hottest celebrity gym, with an investor who insists on opening a New York City location. It’s the last place Gabe wants to go, but when Michelle is unexpectedly brought on board to spearhead the new marketing campaign, everything Gabe’s been running from catches up with him.

I’ve missed you.

Michelle is torn between holding Gabe at arm’s length or picking up right where they left off—in her bed. As they work on the campaign, old feelings resurface, and their reunion takes a sexy turn. Facing mounting pressure from their families—who think they’re dating—and growing uncertainty about their futures, can they resolve their past mistakes, or is it only a matter of time before Gabe says adiós again?

LOVED this book. Both main characters were grappling with big things in their lives, but they still found their way back to each other. I really appreciated the family relationship talk. I can’t wait for Ava’s book!

A Lot Like Adios was a pleasant, yet underwhelming read. I just never got fully invested in the story.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

An absolutely adorable and wonderful follow up book to You Had Me at Hola. Easy one of my most recommendable of 2021! It was such a success with so many romance readers in the library.

Michelle Amato has built her own graphic design business after leaving the corporate world. The last thing she needs is her ex-best friend, Gabriel Aguilar, who she hasn't seen in 18 years, coming back into her well curated life. His successful LA gym wants her to help get their new marketing campaign but the last thing he wants to do is come back to their Bronx neighborhood. When they are thrown back together, all the old feelings, plus 18 years of missed feelings, are thrown around and pressure from both of their's families on top of everything else will push Gabriel to the edge. Will they figure things out or will Gabriel leave again?

I LOVE Alexis Daria and "You had Me at Hola," so I was really excited to read this second one in the Primas of Power series. I loved Michelle and loved that she was a part of the same family as Jasmine. For me, there was a bit too much sexy times that took away from the story line, I am not one to she away from some spice but it was just a bit too much for me. But if you like that, this is perfect.

High school sweethearts who thought they were just friends come back together one more time and show each other how they really feel. And they get together again. And again. And again.

A Lot Like Adiós was absolutely delightful. Super sexy, charming and absolutely seductive, this book delivers tension, perfect dialogue, and plenty of steam.

A job Michelle Amato no longer wants and an ex-best friend who no longer wants her collide with one accidental email. Gabriel Aguilar never thought he would speak to his family in the Bronx or the best friend he left behind, but when his business partner accidentally emails her, he cannot pass up the opportunity. He needs her if he wants to open the New York City branch of their celebrity gym without a hitch. Michelle cannot say no, but she has terms. If she works with Gabriel he will stay with her and they will figure out what happened 13 years ago. Endless longing is always involved in the perfect combination of friends-to-lovers and second-chance romance.

A beautiful (not to mention hot) estranged-friends-to-lovers romance. Fans of You Had Me at Hola will not be disappointed with this successor. Alexis Daria creates such a sense of history and longing between Michelle and Gabe from the very beginning. While this is a quieter story—the conflict is primarily internal—the pacing never lags. The dialogue, the fanfic excerpts (Alexis Daria really excels at telling a story within another story), and the relationship development here are all terrific. Very much recommend.

The first book in this series was a delightful breath of fresh air! While I didn't love this one as much, I still read it very quickly (a compliment) and rooted for the characters as they stumbled (a little messily) towards their happy ending. This wasn't my favorite, but I look forward to reading more from Alexis Daria.

All hail Alexis Daria, a romance writer who brings a much needed breath of fresh air to the romance genre. YOU HAD ME AT HOLA was a favorite of mine and A LOT LIKE ADIOS does not disappoint. I love that she's continuing the stories of the Primas of Power. Michelle and Gabe's journey is sweetly sexy. Daria's characters are witty and relatable. I can't wait for the third book in this series.

This was a fun follow-up to Alexis Daria's previous telenovela-inspired romance novel, You Had Me at Hola. Featuring the second chance love trope, the heroine and hero are both extremely likable characters that the reader will root for.
