Alexis Daria’s words never disappoint. Equal parts heat and heart as she does best. Michelle and Gabe are overflowing with chemistry and charm. I loved it!

I read this one right when it came out and then apparently have been dragging my feet on writing this review. The fact was it was just okay. It was a second chance romance which I typically love and while they definitely had chemistry and the spice was good I just didn’t love all the fabricated drama.

It felt odd that he was afraid of being discovered by his parents and they were legit hiding right next door from them? Also she was so close to her family and the two families were close. I just didn’t buy all the family strife that didn’t seem possible.

The more I read this series I realize I like it, I just don’t love it. Some series are just not for you. I’m not sure if I’ll continue unless I get really excited about the next synopsis? To be determined.

3.5/5

Really loved this second entry in the series. I was a little nervous, because I loved the first just so much. But I think Gabe and Michelle are even more relatable and lovely. The book has wonderful depictions of burnout, healing family divides, and bisexuality. I also absolutely loved the fanfiction - such a cute way to show their longtime feelings for each other and how knowledge of those feelings evolved.

I said it when I read the first book in the series, but this one only solidified it, I HAVE TO READ more Alexis Daria. She has a perfect way of making you connect with her characters. I mean, I just can't get enough of her storytelling. I feel like these are my friends and family and these are real life stories. I feel like not too many authors can really pull that off. I love Michelle and Gabriel so so much. I love the support of their friends and family and that both are very much present. I have really been enjoying the childhood almost-together reunited years later to reignite old feelings trope lately. This one really just nailed it. And there's a cat too. And as always, wonderfully written spicy scenes! Excited for what I assume is Ava's book :)

Lucky for me, I was able to voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book. Mich and Gabe's spicy love story is just the right about of cheesy, hot and fun you need to end off a wonderful summer. Following in her cousin's footsteps (You Had Me at Hola), Mich gambles her heart in a love story of her own. Great writing and inclusivity!- posted in Chapters-Indigo

Another lovable romance from Alexis Daria following former friends who find the flame is still very much alive when they're reunited for work. A bit steamier than I remember You Had Me at Hola being, but still so feisty and fun without too, too much drama. And both of the leads are bi! We love to see it.

“A Lot Like Adiós” from Alexis Daria surpassed my expectations! I enjoyed her first book, but liked this storyline better. This one read as more authentic to me. I loved the main characters. This one was easy to read, enjoyable and Daria’s writing is clear with a story that is fun to follow along with. Also: I loved that the Primas of Power we’re back in action for this one! That family dynamic is amazing and well worth exploring! Plus, with some forced proximity and some steamy scenes, this one should please a lot of romance readers! Thank you to the publisher for the gifted copy of this one!

I loved You Had Me at Hola this year so I was SO excited to get a copy of A Lot Like Adios! This one centers on Michelle and Gabe, childhood friends who have fallen out of touch. Hello second chance romance?! One of my favorite tropes!! This one was steamy from the start and I really enjoyed it! Gabe and Michelle grow individually in their careers, overcome some family issues, and in turn grow together as a couple. Overall this was a great romance and I definitely recommend it.

What I loved about this book:
- Workplace project
- Forced Proximity
- Former BFFs now lovers
= Family
- Multiple sex scenes as this book was high heat.

A Lot Like Adios by Alexis Daria
Is it too early to start calling out our favorite books of 2021? Because I want to shout those words from the rooftop!

I am completely and unabashedly in love with A Lot Like Adios by Alexis Daria and I don’t know what to do with all these feelings. Hopefully I can express them in this review.

First and foremost I would like to point out that although we have met this character in You Had Me at Hola, the previous book, this is a COMPLETE stand alone and you don’t have to feel guilty about starting here. Yay! But ultimately yes, this is the second cousin… or shall I say prima, in the Primas of Power that we were first introduced in book one.

Michelle, (swoon, I love her, she just jumbles and ignites all my swoon genes just thinking of her) is our leading lady in this book, she is a Marketing guru, slash graphic designer, slash website designer, multi media genius aficionado. One day she gets an email from a gym company called Agility based in California in need of her services, as they want to expand to New York (where Michelle resides.)

But get this, the company is owned by two men, ONE of these men is Michelle’s childhood best friend, Gabe. Enter new wave of swoon. (But actually don’t swoon yet, we we are mad at Gabe in the beginning.)

About a decade ago before this email, Gabe and Michelle were graduating high school, Michelle planning to take over the world with her bestie by her side. They shared an intoxicating kiss one day in which they kinda ignored, and all of a sudden, Gabe tells Michelle he is leaving for University in California.

*Insert loud harsh sounding car break noise*

Gabe throws that information out there with no warning and hardly any explanation, leaving his family, the family business, and most importantly his best friend (that he’d been secretly pinning for) behind. Michelle is heartbroken on how he just dips out of the picture without any intent to keep in touch.

So fast forward to now times, Agility Gym needs Michelle’s finesse for this expansion. Michelle accepts the job on several conditions. She tells Gabe he MUST stay with her during his visit to NY, while he does business. Michelle is set on understanding why he left so suddenly and in such a cold manner. Gabe after years of running from his past, still holds a flame for her but isn’t sure if he could face his past in this visit.

Despite all the hesitation A Lot Like Adios will give you CHEMISTRY, MUTUAL ATTRACTION, STEAM, and all the gooey yumminess that Alexis Daria excels in with Contemporary Romance.

A Lot Like Adios give us such wonderful, healthy relationship moments. From Gabe and Michelle opening up about sex and their sexuality. Each new chapter that they spend together is another layer of intimacy both Michelle and Gabe reach. Each hesitation to be truthful is so human and understandable, and each revelation they both reach is so inspiring to read.

Alexis Daria has created a beautiful story of two people that are aware of the mistakes made during their upbringing, and small traumas from life and dating. But these two characters truly show us the reader that with effort, we can bear the truths of our partners, love them through the flaws, and still strive to be better for the sake of each other. All these delicate yet gorgeous aspects of a couple wrapped up in a Contemporary Romance.

As usual with Daria all the Latinx culture is showcased so beautifully. From the nosey Abuelas and Tias, to the drama of family gatherings. My heart felt so full to see these details portrayed with a lovely lens that Latinx culture deserves.

FIVE STARS for A Lot Like Adios by Alexis Daria, I know it’s early but I cannot help it, it’s my favorite of this year.

Can’t tell if this is underwhelming or if I’m just burned out on contemporaries. I wasn’t into the ship or gym marketing storyline at all. Like, the writing is good but I was ambivalent for most of the book (which is a shame because I loved the first installment in the series). YMMV.

Alexis Daria is back again with another fun and steamy romance. Daria is one of the most fun authors in romance today, penning two novels that prove her place among the best of the best. A lot Like Adios is a must read this year as one of the best romance books of 2021.

I really enjoyed You Had me at Hola, But dang did I LOVE A lot like Adíos. Seeing latinx representation in romance fiction is so inspiring. I didn't realize how desperately I needed it until I had it in my hands. Alexis is a master of her craft bringing life not only to these characters, but to their cultures. I can't get enough!

A steamy, second-chance romance that makes you believe in the power of your first love. I adored the friendship at the heart of this love story and the journey toward reconciliation with each other, their families, and themselves.

Terrific story! Really enjoyed reading about the complicated path that Mich and Gabe took to work things out. I thought Ms. Daria did a great job including their professional interactions and family issues as important parts of their story. I read this novel as an ebook (ARC) and I admit this is not my favorite way to read. Things felt a bit “choppy” to me, but I blame this mostly on the small pages that turn so slowly on my e-reader. I plan to make time to listen to the audiobook; I imagine that will provide the continuity my ebook didn’t.

Alexis Daria's You Had Me at Hola was one of my favorite reads of 2020, and I've been eagerly looking forward to diving into A Lot Like Adiós ever since this glorious cover was revealed.

Adiós is a second chance romance between former best friends Michelle Amato and Gabriel Aguilar. Gabe is opening a branch of the gym he co-owns in New York and is shocked to learn his partner reached out to Mich (who he hasn't spoken to in 13 years) to handle the marketing. Working together makes it impossible for the two to ignore the chemistry that's always existed between them, and the baggage they both still carry over how and why Gabe left the way he did.

In many ways, this is Gabe's story. His relationship with his parents is strained and wrapped up in feeling as though he could never meet his fathers' expectations. His journey towards reconciling with them and building a more honest and open relationship was handled really well. And as always, I really love the way that Daria writes about intimacy with such a focus on communication between her characters.

Something I loved about Hola was the way that Daria incorporated scenes from the show the characters were filming into the narrative. Here, she does something similar through flashbacks of when Gabe and Mich were teens writing fanfiction together. The plotlines they wrote for their characters mirrored their own lives in such great ways and made it so I was excited every time I reached a flashback chapter. I'm also a fanfic nerd so these were some of my favorite parts of the book.

Dang. This book is sexy. If you need a little bounce in your step or heat on a cold Minnesota day then pick up any book from Alexis Daria! The chemistry between Michelle & Gabriel is so well written. I literally could not put this book down.

Oh how I enjoyed this book! So much more than You Had Me at Hola. Mich and Gabe gave the perfect sexy, fun, cute and believable vibe that I look for in friends to lovers, faking dating stories. They were both incredibly flawed and vulnerable but also self aware! I love how that piece felt so real and relatable. The steam in this book is perfection! The family scenes, LQBTQIA and Latinx rep was magical. I was completely immersed in the family scenes with the food, the music, the laughter, the banters, the growth among the characters. Just read this book if you haven't already!

I have no words to describe how I’m feeling after this. I am depressed. Goodbye. Np words. Nada.
