Thanks for the review edition.

I really loved this book. I read it quite a long time ago (and forgot to share thoughts here - whoops!) and I can still remember why I loved it and even how the different characters made me feel. A 5-star isn't SUPER common for me, but this book was for sure a 5 star.

One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston has quickly become one of my favorite books. I am… completely obsessed with this novel. The romance was just perfect. Throughout each page of August and Jane's story, I was reminded that this, this is what falling in love feels like.

One thing romance novels can sometimes lack is unique, well-developed characters that jump off the page. That was never an issue here. In fact, they were fully realized characters all on their own. From the instant her narrative started, August had a very distinct perspective. And even when Jane didn’t fully know who she was, she never felt half-baked.

The supporting cast was so also eccentric and fun. Getting to read how they rifted off each other was great. The banter in this book was top-tier. I loved their little found family.

As someone who has spent many hours commuting throughout my life, I am no stranger to the ‘subway crush’. Creating stories in your mind about their potential lives outside of that small sliver of time when you get to see them. So it felt satisfying to see August actually explore all that with Jane, all the while falling even more in love with her.

Another thing that can make or break a romance for me is its plot. What makes a good novel great is a compelling storyline outside of the actual romance itself, and One Last Stop had that in spades. While I can’t go into details without spoiling, I can assuredly say that this book never felt like it dragged. Not even once.

Thank you to the publisher, Macmillan Audio, and NetGalley for providing me an e-ARC of this audiobook. All thoughts are my own.

I did not give One Last Stop a favorable review. It just wasn't one for me. I found it hard to relate or even connect with the characters. The writing was great and the storyline could be great. It just missed the mark for me.

I knew going in that this was not going to be as beloved to me as Red, White & Royal Blue given the particular timing of that storyline and the memories I now have attached to the book. With that said, I had to set the appropriate expectations for One Last Stop in order to enjoy it, especially since time travel is a trope that I find hard to do right. This was a fun story that I enjoyed spending time reading, but won’t be one that I’ll be revisiting.

Narration: Natalie Naudus gave a great performance.

Thanks to Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for the chance to review.

I enjoyed the narration and felt that the narrator truly gave life to the characters. I do feel that it could have been significantly edited down. It felt way too long and repetitive in spots. Multiple mystery storylines usually don’t work, but I did like how the author tied it all together.

I really liked this one. I enjoyed the time travel aspect and thought it was super fun and different. I enjoyed the characters and learning about them through different characters or other ways. I also really liked the narration

I picked up this book because I really enjoyed another book by this author. When I heard she was writing a Sapphic romance I knew I had to pick this one up and it didn't let me down. I loved the aspect of the found family and I wished I lived somewhere as cool as the apartment. This book was great and I will recommend it to anyone looking for a good book to read.

I would highly highly recommend listening to this audiobook to anyone and everyone. This audiobook is in stores for A$30.99 (AUD).

This timey wimey romance is a must if your looking for something new or in a romance rut and need something just a little bit different to shake things up!
Or a lot bit different as it turns out…
Life for August has been bumpy, existential 20-something drama, family drama, new roommates she finds hard to categorize and she works at a 24hr pancake joint in New York; the antithesis of dull. Life is seemingly a rut she will trudge through without consequence for the indeterminate future.
Until one fabulous day for one fabulous moment she see an exceedingly hot chick Jane on the subway - perfect hair, leather jacket, a smirk and of course the eyes. August is jolted back to feeling something, she starts acting more like a feeling human in all aspects of her life too.
August sees Jane on her commute regularly and a flirtation begins. Then August starts to notice some things and realizes the reason Jane never misses the train (a near impossibility given New York’s Transit system) is because Jane never leaves it.
Jane is stuck on the train. Weird right? Well buckle up because Jane boarded the train in 1970.
A fun time travel rom com that still finds time to sizzle.

One Last Stop follows the story of August, a 23-year-old a bit lost in life when she moves to NYC, who uncovers a mysterious girl she is crushing on from the subway is lost in time from the 1970s.

This book was so freakin' cute! I loved the entire cast of characters (August stumbled into the best roommates ever!) and the time-traveling aspect grew on me. I really enjoyed all the coincidences that played out, the NYC setting, and the LGBTQIA+ and diverse representation.

One thing worth calling out is before it got back steamy, it felt a little YA to me.

One Last Stop was written by Casey McQuiston and Narrated by Natalie Naudus. First off, this was an excellent novel to listen to because the narration made the characters come alive. I found myself laughing out loud, tearing up, and thinking about the book for days after I was finished. What else can you ask for? This LGBTQ, paranormal rom-com has memorable, quirky characters and unusual scenes on public transportation throughout most of the book.

Thank you NetGalley, Macmillan Audio, and Casey McQuiston for allowing to listen to this book for an honest book. I highly recommend this to anyone that wants a different kind of story.

5/5⭐ to One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston. Huge thank you to St. Martin's Griffin and MacMillan Audio for an audio egalley to review. I have since re-read this book twice, and it definitely holds its spot in my 10 favorite books of all time. It is romantic, adventurous and whimsical with another diverse, loveable cast of characters that McQuiston is known for. As a Canadian girl from the prairies, I can only dream of what New York City is like - the pace of life, the density, people, and noise. Because of this, I loved the setting, and specifically how August and Jane's relationship starts and is mainly grounded on the Q line of the NYC metro system. I can't say enough how much I loved their relationship (major swooning on my part), and their scenes together were the highlights of the book, but I love how it was in the greater context of New York and the time travel element brought up conversations about queer experiences in history and its evolution. Finally...the Su Special!!! Drool. I know most everyone who is going to read it has already read it, but if not...go do it!!

I think I FINALLY found a romance book that I like!

The main character, August, moves to NYC to try to ~find~ herself while she finishes up college. She moves into an apartment room that is filled with other young 20 year olds, who are all very interesting characters. She quickly starts to enjoy NYC, and even finds this gorgeous girl (Jane) on the subway. Quickly, she realizes that this girl cannot leave the train, and seems to have been stuck in the past. August takes it upon herself to set this girl free, and let her leave the train.

I think I really liked this romance since it did not focus just on the relationship. I found myself caring for Jane, wondering how she ended up in this situation, and if she would get out. There is a hint of a sci-fi element to this book, which I loved. I was completely enthralled by this book, and I even finished it all within one day, so it is definitely a quick read. Even if you're not a romance person, I highly recommend picking this one up!

I love love love loved this book.
Casey can do no wrong in writing laugh out loud characters and dialogue.
Jane and August are my OTP.
The story felt so unique with the stuck in time aspect and it was not what I would expect from a romance book, but I mean that in the best way possible.
As always the queer representation is spot on and does not feel fired at all. I can’t wait to see what they do next!

DNF at 49%. While I loved the narration, the story just was pretty boring. I felt like it could have been significantly shorter and more compact.
