The second book I have read of these new inspired genius series is literally gaining wings and soaring to new heights.

Well Amelia Earhart will have that influence for all young people reading or listening to this brief history of her short life. A bright intelligent young women who followed initially more conventional paths open to her; nursing during the First World War.

One of the wonders of early flight was the progress seen during the war years. Post 1918 airplanes, aeroplanes were the great crowd puller; air stunt-flying shows and exhibitions demonstrated the thrills and manoeuvrability of these early flying machines. As a young man I remember (1965) the film “Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines”. Set in the early 1900s about air races between England and France.

Now this is where this book is such a wonderful piece of early flying history. Women, like Amelia Earhart, bucked the trend and showed that women had as many dreams and determination to succeed in aviation. The path was certainly difficult, gender roles were very fixed at this time and young Amelia achieved so much against all the odds.

What a wonderful role model; what an inspiring individual who lived fearlessly and died doing something she loved.

This book ticks so many boxes; it has a grown up biography at the end of the book and a helpful educational dictionary - explaining difficult / new words perhaps, for younger kids.

I also liked the ‘muse’ gallery of book covers where this growing series will be recorded. What I thought was missing was a reference page with books for further reading about the history of flight and Amelia Earhart.

A vast improvement on the first book I read, and bodes well for future titles released and planned to come.

I really enjoy children's books biographies. I think they are a great way to introduce my daughter to famous people and events. We have another kid-sized biography for Amelia Earhart and I was pleasantly surprised that many facts covered in this book were new and not covered in the other. This would make an interesting companions book or stand alone to introduce your child to a strong, bold, brave female.

I see these books crop up often on Goodreads and various blogs and the like so I was curious about them. I love the idea of these story books for children, basically taking famous pioneers in their field, and reminding us that they too had to start somewhere. This one gives us an overview of the life of Amelia Earhart, delivered in a way that should appeal to children. Nice to see.

*Many thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for a review copy in exchange for an honest opinion.*

A bright colourful book filled with interesting facts about one of the most celebrated women in history.

This would serve as good subject matter and reading practice for my 6.5yo and for children who prefer non-fiction over fiction.

A well-presented and researched book. 5/5 stars

Thanks for the chance to read this book in exchange for honest feedback. I thought that this book was an excellent combination of informative and visually appealing. That works very well for young readers! I have seen books like these for young readers (those about popular figures in history). I think this one offers great information, illustrations, and a proper info-picture ratio. Good for young readers.

I would hazard a guess that books for the very young about Amelia Earhart, even when they have to leap the hurdle of the fact she vanished trying to succeed where nobody else had done so, are not exceedingly rare. This is a fine entrant to that market, however – bright, simple but vivid and dynamic artwork adds to the feel of her achievements, and the fact she was such a pioneer is brought to us nicely by the text. In fact, the only thing stopping this book from being the success it deserves is that most school libraries would probably already have a similar volume from someone else.

I love stories about strong, smart and powerful people, especially women, to read to my growing daughters. I think this story is done perfectly to introduce them to Amelia Earhart and plant a seed now that they can do ANYTHING in the future!

I’ve always loved stories about Amelia Earhart! This is the perfect short book to introduce her to children so they can see how cool she really was too. The illustrations are cute and the pages are short chunks to make it easier for younger children to read.

I have always been curious about Amelia Earhart. But I never got to know about her much. This book is beautiful. The colorful illustrations will surely catch a kid's eye and the language is easy to read. The book is a short read, ideal for kidss.

Perfect for young kids. When I was a kid, I also loved these kind of colorful books with valuable stories and lessons inside. I'm sure kids now will love this too.

I absolutely love biographies written for children. This book was engaging and informative and the full color illustrations were vivid. I also loved the short biography and black and white picture of Amelia Earhart at the end of the book. I can't wait to share this book with my 3 and 5 year olds!

This is a beautiful, well written book, and it's very important for all children to read stories as inspiring as this. Given that female protagonists of a lot of children's literature are usually relegated to roles of
Being providers and not doers, in a sense, Amelia Earhart is a great role model. It's particularly good for girls, from a young age , to know what equal marriages look like, and that it doesn't mean one has to give up on ones dreams, or identity. Highly recommended, and I would recommend for even very small children- it's never too early to teach the right ideas.

Note: I received an ARC of this book via netgalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

A great book that should be part of any public and school library. Perfect for kids interested in flying, explorers and pioneers, and famous women. The text is concise enough for young readers and the illustrations focus on the most relevant and avoid distractions. The book is most suitable as a first introduction to Amelia Earhart and contains a summary of information at the end.

The children for whom this title is intended, have grown up in a world in which airplanes are common place and flights to the moon occur. Help them to travel back to when flight was new and women were not in the spotlight. Within that context, the story of Amelia Earhart and her achievements is such an exciting one. This book tells her story matter of factly but well. The illustrations are cartoon like and add to the narrative. This title also includes some additional information and photos at the end. It is a good title for a school or home library.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions are my own.

Another very compact, but enjoyable children's book on an important historical figure. The illustrations are fair-to-middling, but communicate the story well.. It may not be an outstanding adaptation of the Earhart story, but it's fine and will entertain lots of young readers.

This book was an amazing history on Amelia Earhart. I even, as an adult, learned new facts about her I never knew before! The book follows Amelias journey to becoming a pilot and the journeys she went on during her career. I really appreciate how the author went through her history so smoothly so younger kids can understand and appreciate Amelias life story!
