A relatively chaste "boys love" romance told in a single volume. Focuses on two boys with similar names who quickly realize they have a lot in common. Good introduction to the genre.

Nakata and Tanaka were always so similar to each other, but the reason for that was the one of them was always looking at other and starting to have feelings fo him. They are best friends and when Tanaka gets a girlfriend, Nakata starts to feel the pain of unrequited love while also having to pretend that everything is fine, fortunately he gets a an amazing friend like Futaba who is always there to comfort him when things get hard...but what Nakata didn't know is that Tanaka was also looking at him.
It was a beautiful, ligh hearted warm story about first loves and the pain and joy that comes with it. Both characters althought constantly being said that are similar, are so different. I loved how the manga comes in full circle at the end <3

This is a really fun little story to read in between. The characters are well developed and it's easy to fall into and follow the plot. I had a really good time reading it and I can definitely recommend it to anyone who wants some good and soft BL.

First of all, I thank netgalley for providing me with this manga, my review will be 100% honest. The story centers on Tanaka and Nakata, who mistakenly write their names backwards on an exam, generating their first interaction and where they realize that they share many things in common, including people's taste or at least they think so. However, one day one of them begins a relationship with a classmate, generating a distancing ... but not everything is perfect in the relationship since the girl refuses to be with him at school, causing him to return to his friend, however One day they argue because he feels that he only uses it when the girlfriend does not want it. Little by little he begins to realize his feelings but he will not dare to tell him. Ok, the story itself is good and the drawing 10/10, however it generates conflict in the relationship since it felt a bit toxic, since it was not 100% honest and they hurt a lot, it is fine because relationships are not rosy, but I would not like to have such a manipulative relationship. I actually had a good time reading this manga but I'm not sure if I'll ever read it again. for me it deserves a 3.5 out of 5 stars

A really cute and sweet story without bullying nor queerphobia which was a nice change. Only thing that made me take away half a star was that there was cheating involved. That wasn't okay at all.
Besides that ugly detail, a trope I see many times in mangas, the story was really sweet and I loved the little details, the smiles and heartaches and all the seasons and feelings changing.
It was a fast and adorable read!

I loved the concept of this manga and thought it was just the cutest! Such lovesickness and heartwarmth. Tanaka and Nakata were such a great pair and their similarities added a fun element to the story. The side characters were also lots of fun and I loved how Futaba was a bookworm because obviously bookworms are the greatest 😂 Tanigaki was also very sweet and I think she handled the situation with grace considering what happened. The festival scene was also one of my favourites and the ending was so satisfying. There was one scene that just set my heart aflutter and omg the authour even used the word “twitterpated” from Bambi! Overall this is such a cute manga and y’all should check it out.

"In the beginning we weren't all that similar. It was only because I was watching Tanaka so much that the "similarities" started to increase."

This is cute read to start with for the Pride month. Like two peas in a pod started with two boys, Tanaka Sou and Nakata Shioya, who exchanges test papers with each other. They have a lot of similarities like in the things they owned and some physical attributes. It is a friends turned to lovers story which is one of my favorite troupe.

The plot overall was all right. Both boys didn't realized the feelings they had for each other until it was a little to late. Honestly I felt bad for Tanigaki, but I like her reaction at the ending. It was awesome how accepting she is. And I really wish I get to see more of Futaba. She is the kind of friend I would need if I want some book recommendations.

Anyways, it was a hilarious love triangle. Not quite a five star read but still. I wish it was longer. I really want to see more of them because it was insta love at its finest and it ended quite so soon. Also I want to point out about the art style on this one. I totally love it!! The art style is the main reason I picked out this book.

I highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for an insta love and easy read manga. And also if you are interested into those "I fell in love with my bestfriend" kind of things.

Special thanks to Netgalley and Tokyopop for giving me an advance copy in exchange for a honest review.

A gay romance set in high school between two friends who are incredibly similar! I liked the art and plot, it was a very sweet read but pretty basic in premise and execution. I felt bad for the girlfriend in the end, I always hate when it’s a cheating scenario, but I’m glad they found out how they felt for each other. If you’re a fan of BL you’ll probably enjoy it, but for me it was a little plain! I believe it’s a one-shot though, so that definitely puts some constraints on character development or anything. Overall, cute!

Thank you to NetGalley and Independent Publishers Group for the ARC!

This was a very sweet and fun manga. I loved the art style, and all the silly coincidences between the two main characters. I did like this one, but I still felt like it was lacking just that little something more.

This story follows two boys with many similarities and their friendship.

I loved the art style of this manga. I've just recently gotten into reading graphic novels with this kind of art style and story telling and I really enjoy it.

I do have to say, I felt like I missed something at the very beginning. I thought it jumped into the story a little too quickly and it could've used a little more lead in just to set the narrative up better. Also as someone who scrambles names and letters occasionally, I got their names confused a lot while reading and just had to focus on the N or T until I got used to it.

Nakata's story in this broke my dang heart though. This is where the visual component of this genre really stands out.

I like that the story is messy though. These kids aren't right about things. They make mistakes. They say and do the wrong things and go about things the wrong way but I had to hope they would figure out what was staring them in the face the whole time.

When two people are so similar, what can it mean? For Tanaka and Nakata they're not sure. While yes, they do have similar names, and use similar Kanji to represent those names. But they can't be that similar can they? But they soon discover that they are.. from fashion to cell phone cases to interests to lap times. Tanaka and Nakata are two peas in a pod.

Clearly they're meant to be friends. But are they meant to be something more.

This is a cute one shot Manga that tells the story of high schoolers Tanaka and Nakata throughout the course of the school year. It's a slow burn shonen-ai romance that is both sweet and frustrating in the best of ways. There's a lot of journey of discovery in this manga and one of the revelations near the end actually surprised me. Which doesn't happen a lot but it was so well done that it heightened my enjoyment of this book. This is a very slow burn romance that features some heterosexual dating and mutual pining.

Tanaka and Nakata are well done as protagonists. They are similar enough that you can see how they'd be two peas in a pod, but they are different enough to be unique. Tanaka is the outgoing sporty one. While Nakata is the quieter more introspective one. A lot of the story is seen through Nakata's eyes, and honestly that was a good choice. There's also a really quite awesome side character of Futaba who I'd love to see get a story of her own.

The artwork is very pretty, but also minimalist. But it works to help heighten the story.

Honestly I really enjoyed this manga.

Five Stars

I really enjoyed this sweet but slightly messy story. Two boys, Tanaka and Nakata, accidentally get their papers mixed up due to their similar names. As they grow closer, they realize they have even more in common, from their heights to their meter dash times to their fashion and music tastes. But when Tanaka begins dating one of their classmates, Tanagaki, Nakata realizes that they may be more similar than he thought.

I was a little unsure about this story at first. I liked the silly coincidences and I adored Tanaka and Nakata's friendship, but I was worried there was going to be some messiness with Nakata and Tanagaki. However, the story went in a lovely direction, and I loved all of the friendships in this story. There is a bit of cheating in this book, and though it's my least favorite trope, I think it was handled very well given all of the character's motivations and reactions, and the ending was satisfying for all of them. I'm really looking forward to reading more of Gorou Kanbe's work!

Two boys are very similar in name and other attributes, and when one starts dating their female classmate, the other begins to realize that his feelings for his friend are more than friendship. His friend, however, seems very insensitive to his feelings, even in friendship. A story about relationships and friendships.

I quite enjoyed this story. It is not very original but it does the trick and made me happy. Indeed, this is a romance between Tanaka and Nakata where one of them doesn’t realise he is in love with the other until the end. The story was quite sweet and I like the idea of them getting to know each other just because their names are very similar. It is lively and I enjoyed seeing the girl characters.
Moreover, the art is very pretty and adds a lot of sweetness to this light-hearted romance.
I recommend to people who want a sweet yaoi.

I could not really read this manga because of the size it downloaded. It was hard to read because it was very small. I could not focus on the story.

"Like Two Peas in a Pod" perfectly captures what it's like to be in high school and in love with someone for the first time. I was pleasantly surprised by this story. Tanaka and Nakata are a pair of strangely similar classmates who become best friends. Although everything goes awry when one of them gets a girlfriend. This is a pretty simple story. If you read it, you will absolutely predict all the story beats. However, that doesn't take away from the enjoyment of it. I was reminded so much of my high school days while reading. This manga depicts how confusing love is at that age and how high the stakes feel all the time when your whole world is basically a classroom.

This was so cute! I really hope this isn't a one-off and will continue as a series. I enjoyed it. Always like a good shounen-ai manga. Keep in mind, it follows a typical character development of two ridiculously dense high schoolers, Tanaka and Nataka. They have similar personalities, similar tastes in things, and identical names. They become close friends, and then one of them gets a girlfriend. What happens then? I couldn't give it a full five stars because I did feel it the story rushed a bit in-between. Still, this was a great read to destress.

This was a really nice slice of life BL manga!

I love Gorou Kanbe from their previous works bec of the nuances they brought into seemingly plain and simple storylines and this time they did it again!

I really liked the premise of two boys finding themselves in sync with one another, AND THEN something happens that makes their differences even more pronounced. Here, Tanaka is presented honestly as someone who seemed so sure of himself, he didn't notice right away that he was questioning. And agh, Nakata's one-sided longing?? So Sad, yet So Delicious! Haha!

The latter parts seemed a little rushed when compared to the slow, even pacing of the first two or three chapters, and that's why I'm withholding one star.in this review, but if i was gonna be super honest, I wouldn't have lasted if Tanaka and Nakata dragged on.

Still, 4 stars bec I wanted more of their HEA on the page. There were scenes explaining how their similarities were not really intentional, but also not coincidental, and I thought that was really clever and I wanted more of that! I also want more kissing! haha!

I highly recommend this and I can't wait for more of Gorou Kanbe's work!
