The premise of the story had tremendous potential, but it was undermined by a lack of credible character rendering and depth. I don't mind lighthearted tales with an assumed "all's well that ends well" conclusion (I love them!), but each of the principals on the canvas was a uni-dimensional, somewhat exaggerated trope of every character who populates paranormal cozies--but with any potential charm undermined by their immaturity and/or lack of agency even in the most basic situations.

The plot was completely contingent on a series of irrational or immature responses to the actions of one malevolent character at the center. The reveal of that character's impetus at the end was ultimately unsatisfying. I wish this one had been workshopped a bit more. I would absolutely give other titles by this author a chance, though I didn't enjoy this one as much as I expected to.

This is a cute, entertaining, quick read! It's something light and easy to follow. The characters seem to get themselves into situations that seem a little far fetched but fun regardless if you can look past that aspect.

The story about three cousins, Gwen, Milo, and Trudy. whose family have been banned to practice magic for 150 years for causing the Dust Bowl. While things progressively seem to get more worse for these three, they do try their best to fix it. But as they try harder, unexpected elements are thrown into equation and things get more complicated. It was kind of like watched a romantic comedy unfold (but more comedy, less romance). It was silly but cutesy.

Elizabeth Bass writes a hallmark movie in the making with "A Letter to Three Witches." The pages flew by watching her characters get themselves into quite a mess and the conclusion was as satisfying as one of Trudy's enchanted cupcakes. Thanks #Netgalley for letting me read this cute tale.

A fun witchy romcom! Shame it won’t be out til January as it would be a fun read for around Halloween. Fun twists and a cute relationship make this a great romcom for those that love witchy tales!

Not what I had in mind. This was too romcom for me. I prefer more magic and less worry about couple life… or at least those ones didn’t interest me very much.

A wonderful, entertaining, witchy read. Filled with amusing events, and likable (and deliciously unikable) characters, the only reason this book isn’t rated a four, is that the start is rough. There are a lot of characters and their relationships to keep track of, and they are all introduced in the first couple chapters, and it’s hard to sort them out when you land amidst all of them, all at once. Just about the time I thought I couldn’t do it, everything fell into the place, and the book became very readable. Worth persevering.

I loved A Letter To Three Witches. Elizabeth Bass spun a tale with the perfect amount of magic and laughs. The leading characters, especially Gwen, were so fun to get to know. I loved how she related pieces of history with their family history. This book made me want to live in the little town of Zenobia. 5 stars!

I read a lot of pretty high fantasy books with intense world building and, although I love those books, this was a welcome change of pace. A Letter to Three Witches is a light, fun, romantic comedy focusing on the witches of a particular family which has been prohibited from doing magic due to a prior incident. These witches find themselves in a magical mess surrounding their love lives and as they try to untangle the web they just seem to fall further into it. I will say the plot was a bit slow and I found myself wondering in which direction the book was heading. However, it was still a lovely summer read. If you're a fan of Practical Magic and Bewitched you're likely to enjoy it too.

Thank you so much to Netgalley and Kensington Books for giving me this arc in excange for an honest review!

I love books about witches and this one was such a great one!
This is a very fast paced read, the characters are so much turn think that was my favorite thing about the book was the amazing, fun characters here in this book!
Well written, complex storyline with various moving parts. The descriptions of setting were beautifully written and the inner feelings and motivations of our main characters were explored in a way that felt authentic and believable.

Was this the best written book I’ve ever read? Absolutely not. But it was an incredible amount of fun! Chaotic and compelling with many LOL scenes it was just good plain fun!

A Letter to Three Witches was a fun and magical read. The story revolves around witch cousins who have been banned from practicing magic due to a long ago ancestor causing major destruction. After the cousins receive a letter that one of their men is going to leave and run off with one of their adopted cousins, the cousin clan starts to unleash their magical powers. I liked reading this book because of the family dynamics and love interest themes. For a short, fun story I recommend A Letter to Three Witches. I would have preferred a little more magic throughout, but I liked the characters and thought the ending was great!

So endearing! Even though I read this in the summer, it makes me want to pull out my chunky sweaters and cozy up with some hot cider. I may have considered pulling out a pumpkin candle.

A Letter to Three Witches is about a family of witches who have been forbidden to practice magic because of a whoops made in their family a couple generations ago. They caused the Dust Bowl. Oops. The Council that oversees magic use keeps an eye on them to make sure they aren’t using their powers but when stress happens, the magic just can’t be suppressed. At the heart of it, this story is about three cousins who receive a scary letter and accidentally let their magic slip. Then to solve the problems, it slips some more. Thankfully, their crotchety aunt has some secrets up her sleeve.

It’s a quirky, light read that’s perfect for when you want a pick me up. I’m really hoping this becomes a series. The groundwork is there and the characters are great. Now all I need is the book!

Big thanks to the publisher and #NetGalley for the ARC.

This is a fun story of witch family who were forbidden from doing any wizardry by the Wizard council but as they say, magic happens, intentionally and sometimes unintentionally. The story begins with Gwen and her two cousins receiving a mail with vague notice of their notorious little cousin moving to New York city which triggers chain reaction of events, few dubious disappearances and magic mishaps that reveals a few family secrets, brings the cousins closer, makes them realize that magic works in mysterious ways and has always been part of them. I enjoyed this light read and I would recommend this book to readers who enjoy magical fiction.
My rating - 3.5

I got this eARC from @netgalley and @kensingtonbooks for an honest review.

First off I’d like to say if you enjoy, really light, fast, funny books with witchy things interwoven than this book is for you. There were moments I found myself laughing at some of it, but some parts I was really trying to reminding myself what the plot was.

I did enjoy it for the most part, it kinda reminded me of a romcom but with witches but it little less romance, honestly I didn’t even grasp the romance much. I just had a hard time grasping the whole of the story, that’s not to say this book isn’t for you, I just didn’t throughly enjoy it.

My favorite character and the only one I cared deeply about was grizz the poor black cat familiar who deserves to have the world and instead got a horrible witch companion.

All in all, I think you should give it a try and make an assumption for yourself.

This was a cute book with a lot of potential. I wish we had more time to get to know the characters. We're thrown headfirst into full speed shenanigans without much chance to form relationships with anybody. If you like magical fluff, you'll enjoy this story. If there's another book with these characters, I'll give it a try.

Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC :)

This book really suprised me. Thought it looked fun because of the description which kinda reminded me of Charmed which I looove.

I started reading and immediately second guessed myself picking it up, as it seemed kind of boring and lacked magic.
But boy am I glad I stayed on this train, cause the book got really fun just a few chapters in. It's a romcom with magic and clueless witches doing everything wrong and more.

Would recommend to fans of Charmed and Practical Magic.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Rating: 4.5: quirky, spontaneous, and mundanely witchy: A Letter to Three Witches was an eccentric and refreshing take on a witchy story that was just offbeat enough to be ridiculously enjoyable.

A witch really, really screwed up in the magic community, bad enough that their family was banned from practicing magic by the Grand Council of Witches. Flash forward, and we follow the shenanigans of three cousins (whose ancestor was said witch, and have been consequently banned from practicing magic) as they each receive the same letter (hence, a letter to three witches. Very literal of a title there). The trio faces magical, familial, and relationship problems while living as un-witch-like as possible (I wouldn’t say it’s strictly a magical, romance, or family-drama book… it’s sort of a comedy mixed with those aspects?).

I had no clue where the book was going half the time, but I really enjoyed that aspect. It was adult without being smutty or woe-is-middle-aged-me; the characters had jobs and relationships, but were silly with just a touch of immaturity and terrible decision-making just as all humans are (or at least feel). I never felt like the story was dragging and the plot twisted and turned enough to keep you guessing (or keep you in a state of second-hand embarrassment for the characters). Sometimes the happenings got a little far-fetched or ridiculous, but I found that mostly enjoyable.

Random things I loved: regardless of gender, everyone was called a witch. There was a Chasten Buttigieg reference. And you get a few chapters in the POV of a cat.

A Letter to Three Witches was wonderfully kooky. I highly recommend for something silly and palate cleansing.

I definitely enjoyed this tale finely woven by Elizabeth Bass. With charm, twists, trills characters you’ll enjoy A Letter to Three Witches is one most are bound to enjoy.

Gwen and her cousins, Trudy and Milo, have been forbidden from practicing magic - all thanks to an ancestor and a spell that went awry. So far they've managed lived on the straight and narrow (no one wants the Council to punish them!). Well, as much as they can. But both magic and drama are about to upend their lives, especially after Gwen's foster sister Tannith sends them all a mysterious letter.

I found this exceptionally difficult to get into and I was thinking "oh this reaaaally isn't for me". But once the rough start was over and done with, I started to enjoy the shenanigans in Zenobia. Gwen, Trudy and Milo are great characters - I feel like I know them after all that craziness. But Tannith was a Passions-grade villain (not my thing) and oooh that rough start. That said, A Letter to Three Witches is a bit of witchy fun that may just brighten your afternoon.
